  1. Glad to see Danks, Viciedo and Retherford...but gotta admit I'm a little disappointed with the other guys. But that's just my selfish side wanting to see Mitchell or Phegley though.
  2. Those were 3 of THE WORST curveballs I've ever seen. AJ calls for 2 of them that just rolled up there and he calls for ANOTHER ONE on an 0-2 pitch. Incredibly s***ty pitch...but also an incredibly s***ty call from AJ. After seeing those first two just roll up there with no bite whatsoever...he calls for another one. Jesus...I predicted it to my son sitting next to me (which wasn't hard to see),
  3. Step 1. I'm out....until I get home and start watching...then I'm in. Step 2. Then the Sox completely piss another one away they should have won. Then I'm out. Step 3. Then I wake up with new optimism...then I'm in. Repeat steps 1-3 daily.
  4. QUOTE (tommy @ Aug 25, 2009 -> 03:28 PM) Podsednik DH Not sure why that made me chuckle.... I mean I'm not poopin' on why....but seeing Pods as a DH...who'd a thunk it?
  5. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Aug 25, 2009 -> 11:20 AM) Yea he has and a few doubles and a couple of nicely executed hit and runs. But he's been sitting a lot. Kenny can't be very happy about that. He's got to be out there every day. You bring up an interesting point maybe. Maybe Kenny would like to have Dye back next year at a reasonbable price...but if Ozzie keeps trotting him out there Kenny may just say screw it and just let Dye walk (which I would anyway) to avoid these issues.
  6. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Aug 25, 2009 -> 10:52 AM) I know almost nothing of chewing tobacco (I think everything I know about it comes from The Sandlot). Does it contain nicotene and a lot of the other crap in cigarettes. It's actually a lot worse and in more concentrated levels.
  7. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Aug 23, 2009 -> 03:49 PM) You sign Thome for 2010. He retires at the end of that season, then you move Konerko to DH and Viciedo takes over 1B. Personally this is the most realistic thing I can see. As much as I love Dye...I think his time is done here with Rios being on board.
  8. Doesn't each person called up get a prorated portion of salary equal to $75K for a month (league minimum)? If that's the truth...I think you need to think twice about calling up 10 people and paying an extra 750K for a month. Maybe 5 or so...but sure as hell not 10.
  9. Hard to say...but I'm tired of putting so much emotion into this thing only to get kicked in the nuts every other day losing to s*** teams. Personally I think they're done....and saying that I'm hoping it's just reverse psychology. But I've seen no real spark for the last month from this club. Thank god bears football is back is all I can say right now.
  10. Note to Ozzie...glad you decided not to sit Q today! Maybe don't be afraid to sit Dye's ass once in a while.
  11. QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Aug 21, 2009 -> 11:26 AM) Uribe is one of those players who is easy to love when you're winning and easy to loathe when you're losing. When he's there for his defense and his bat is more or less irrelevant then it's great. As a bench player I'd definitely welcome him back if we don't have to give him much more than the minimum. He brings defense, versatility, and some right-handed pop from the bench, and he was apparently a favorite in the clubhouse. That's exactly how I feel. I definitely miss Juan...and I bet some people in the clubhouse do too. I guess it would boil down to who would you rather have...Juan or Nix? I kind of lean towards Juan a little. I think. But I do agree with many that said it was just time to part ways with him.
  12. On a collegiate level...I'm actually shocked and pretty thrilled Josh Spence from ASU (the Aussie lefty pitcher in the CWS) didn't sign with the Angels. He was a 3rd round pick i believe. He either feels he can do better (which I'm not sure about)...but honestly I think he just wanted another year of college. Who knows. That and Toronto didn't sign another ASU recruit, Jake Barrett (3rd round). ASU only lost 2 recruits to signing this year. They'll be stacked next year I think. Barrett's a stud.
  13. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 13, 2009 -> 05:04 PM) FWIW, the Giants said the same stuff about AJ. How'd that turn out? ^^^^^^^ that
  14. Atta boy Juan!!!! I really miss this guy on our team....
  15. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 12, 2009 -> 03:34 PM) As long as he pulls out of this slump. You'd hope at some point somebody on the bench might tell Dye to go the other way with the ball once in a while. He's trying to pull everything and it seems like words out...keep it outside on JD. Not real Rocket Science IMO...
  16. As much as most are down on Fields...at this point it really doesn't make any sense to just jettison him when our roster is going to be turned around the next year or two and infusing youth. Letting him stay down there a while and get his game back and go from there wouldn't hurt anything.
  17. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Aug 11, 2009 -> 03:59 PM) Yes it is. Where did he play SS professionally before? In Cuba he didnt, in the US he didnt. He's a rookie at the most important defensive position on the field, and hasnt even played a full season there yet. Funny how I kept hearing last year his natural position was short? Personally I wasn't thrilled with stickin' him over there but Lexi is one of those guys you could probably put about anywhere on the field. I think I'd rather have Lexi at short than Beckham. I prefer Bacon either exactly where he is or 2B.
  18. As much as I love JD (except during these friggin annual August-Sept mega-slumps)...I really can't see his future here over keeping a left-handed bat like Thomes. Hard to say...but a lot will depend on how each of them finish out the season as to who's retained IMO.
  19. QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Aug 10, 2009 -> 01:47 PM) Agreed. We've all heard enough about the gaping hole in CF for four seasons now. We can put it to bed tomorrow - oh happy day! Now we'll just have to figure out who to bat leadoff all over again now...
  20. Linebrink is really starting to get to be my LEAST liked person on this team.
