Rays @ White Sox 7:11pm CSN+ - The Passion of The Carlos
Wanne replied to WSoxMatt's topic in 2009 Season in Review
THANK YOU!!! -
QUOTE (jasonxctf @ Jul 20, 2009 -> 01:01 PM) something that no one has been talking about as an idea... Let's say that the Sox move Quentin to RF next year as its been discussed. So then, you have a hole in LF and CF. (Anderson, Pods are options) But knowing how much the Sox have stuggled to fill these positions, would it be better to do the following.... Leave Quentin in LF and Dye in RF. Make Fields the DH and then just fill one position CF (or go with an Anderson/Pods situation) So the lineup could look like... 1) Pods- CF 2) Ramirez- SS 3) Quentin- LF 4) Dye-RF 5) Konerko-1B 6) AJP-C 7) Beckham-3B 8) Fields-DH 9) Getz-2B The Sox could then use the $ they save from Thome, Contreras, Dotel and Colon ($30 million in total) to either... -upgrade CF -upgrade the Bullpen -Get a solid #4/#5 starter -lock up John Danks Fields?!?....DH?!?...good lord why?

QUOTE (chisoxfan09 @ Jul 19, 2009 -> 03:46 PM) I hear ya dude but during that tailspin that lasted almost 2 months anything thing was enough to deflate the sails and there were stretches where they just could not flat out hit and looked terrible at the plate. This is the kind of effort that drove me insane because they just could not find the energy to shake it off. I mean it was so pathetic I think I remember counting 9-10 shutouts from mostly 3rd rate pitchers who normally could not hit the side of a barn if it was in front of them. These guys threw batting practice to the rest of the AL but they shut us down. Same story today. which quite frankly I've come to expect when they take the first two of a three game set. They come out content and lazy already having won the series so these games don't mean s*** to them. I could be wrong...but that's how I see it...and it pisses me off.
-
How did the '83 team only have one guy on it...and it was the rookie Kittle. Wow.
-
I think Garland has a 10.5M mutual option next year. If he declines he gets a $1M buyout. If he excepts and team declines he gets $2.5M. I believe he makes $5M this year...maybe 5.5.
-
You don't think how well Beckham is hitting right now isn't rubbing off on the other guys? They don't want to get shown up by the rook. Pretty amazing that when Gordon starting hitting the ball the team seemed to take off.
-
I have no problems with where he's at in the order...or the fact he wasn't just rushed into the bigs. Where he's at in the order is fine...not the pressure of immediately being thrust into the 2 hole. Let him get some more ABs under his belt and build his confidence a little more. That being said...when I had a quick chat with him in the AFL I told him I was looking forward to seeing up NEXT year. He just looked at me and said "Sooner"...and nodded his head.

Why this team COULD NOT and now WILL make playoffs
Wanne replied to YonderLaroche's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Wow...can't believe the Debbie Downers here. I wouldn't count this team out...and I guarantee other teams the have to play the Sox right now aren't really looking forward to it. Let's see if the bats stay hot up and down the lineup before making the "no way" predictions. Damn...why do some of you even cheer or watch? -
QUOTE (DaGame2584 @ Jun 29, 2009 -> 09:15 PM) According to this the Blue Jays may trade Alex Rios to save money to sign Doc Holliday. Thoughts? I heard Gammons talking about this on BBT. He'd be somebody if you had a chance to get, you'd have to seriously look into it IMO. Here's his contract status: Rios gets $5.9 million in 2009, $9.7 million in 2010, $12 million each in 2011 and 2012 and $12.5 million apiece in 2013 and 2014. Toronto has a $13.5 million team option for 2015 with a $1 million buyout. He has a complete no-trade provision for 2009 and 2010, and a limited no-trade after that in which he can block trades without his consent to six teams.

Jesus...WTF!?!?

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 29, 2009 -> 06:54 PM) WHEW! Dammit, Alexei. You need to spend 1 hour per day working on soft liners hit at you, over your head and on one hop...that call reversal might end up being the play of the game, as Garko always seems to kill us. seriously....shoulda been out of the inning. Terrible effort by Lexi...
-
goddamnit Lexi! Should have had that....
-
At least we have some options and it's not like it's a gaping hole with Beckham and Lexi. I don't see why Lexi couldn't be one of those players that you plug in where needed...like a DeRosa.

Will they be selling the jerseys they wore yesterday?

Idea for comment: Obtaining another front line right handed SP

QUOTE (DBAHO @ Jun 20, 2009 -> 08:56 AM) Jon Rauch would be an interesting trade option, but he's blown his bridges here. Jon Rauch absolutely blows anymore...no thanks. -
GODDAMMIT!!!!! Friggin ump squeezed Lambson to put him in a 3-1 hole against Rupp. But the dudes did hit it.... tough loss.
-
LET'S KICK SOME LONGHORN ASS TONIGHT!!! I'm assuming that Seth Blair takes the bump and if needed Lambson and Swaggerty in relief. Hopefully Leake will get another shot on Saturday. I could be wrong and Murph goes with Leake tonight. Don't think he should though. Kole Calhoun has been a friggin' best this CWS. You can tell he can't wait to get to the plate now. Maybe it was his interview with Erin Andrews? lol...

I'd like to know why Liney, it seems, has almost completely given up on his curveball? Instead he just keeps pumping fastball after fastball up there.

Webb's been put back on the shelf and there's speculation he may not even pitch again this year at all. But here's something I found interesting in the AZ Republic and something to consider: -
QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Jun 18, 2009 -> 03:53 PM) Maybe Linebrink shouldn't pitch in close games at Wrigley anymore. how bout ANY close games. The dude is absolutely WORTHLESS right now.
-
Can Linebrink be anymore worthless lately?.... goddamn.
-
I'm still a little bitter this am. Damn. Worst I've ever seen Leake. And Kipnis could have broken the game open in the 3rd with a base hit.
-
Damn...LSU looks pretty tough.
-
If he could manage to dump Zito...Brian Sabean would be like the doctor that pawned Bob Wiley off on Dr. Leo Marvin.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 15, 2009 -> 03:45 PM) Ouch...my boys look done. Picthing collapsed in Omaha. Nailbiter at the end. Thought they were gonna pull that one out....
