Jim Thome-He's pretty strong
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 4, 2008 -> 07:16 PM) Has anyone ever seen a ball hit THAT far before? Have they given a distance on it yet? I was at a game at old Comiskey that Dick Allen hit one to the top of the bleachers...just a tad to the right center side of the scoreboard. I think it was against the Orioles...but good lord it was a shot. I don't think too many people ever reached the bleachers at old Comiskey...but his actually was to the top of them...not far from reaching the scoreboard.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 4, 2008 -> 06:36 PM) Keep pulling that sinking fastball Thome...we haven't seen enough weak grounders this season. Same with Swisher. Wondering if him hitting that dinger last night was the best thing that could have happened? I'd have been just as happy with a rope into the gap.

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jun 4, 2008 -> 06:12 PM) Stone and Farmer mentioning that AJ exchanged words with Grenke last night - anyone see that? Did Grenke throw inside at AJ? Yeah...and AJ takes him yard next at bat. All the meantime I had to hear the Royals announcers piss and moan about it half the night.

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jun 4, 2008 -> 05:56 PM) then guillen should fire him - he's a subordinate. I didn't like the idea of him talking to Reinsdorf. I know they have a relationship but he's one of Ozzie's coaches, he doesn't answer to the Jer. Agreed.

White Sox sign Esteban Loaiza/Option Wassermann
QUOTE (SleepyWhiteSox @ Jun 4, 2008 -> 05:00 PM) Anyways, after further research, I've discovered that Loaiza has been brought in to teach Quentin Spanish, according to this lengthy article... That Esteban...he's The Most Interesting Man in the World!

Walker Article
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 4, 2008 -> 04:35 PM) Greg Walker is a class act and old school. In his world you don't throw your teammates or coaches or managers under the proverbial bus. If there's something that needs to be said you say it to the individual, not to the press. A general rant is fine, but when specific names get thrown around, that doesn't fly with a lot of people, not just Greg Walker. Ya know...sometimes ya do what ya gotta do. If you recall his rant...he mentions himself first. Maybe Walker needed a wakeup call instead of thinking he's all cozy with JR and all. You gotta have some thick skin sometimes and this team's offense...and their inability to be effective situational hitters falls on him. Would you have felt better if Ozzie just said "our hitting coach"? I'm not blaming all of these offensive woes on Walker...but it starts with him...PERIOD. Again...none of us have any idea what preparation and information is being delivered to these guys in terms of plate approach...but obviously somebody's either not listening...or there's a lack of information and preparation being delivered. But when results don't happen...somebody has to be held accountable...players as well as coaches. Ozzie sent a message...from yesterday's result...that message was understood. We'll see if it carries over to today and the rest of the week. If Greg Walker has a problem with how Ozzie conducts business....move on then...Ozzie's not gonna change...nor should he.

Quit bein' a big skirt Walker. Who the hell else does it fall on besides the players? When the pitching sucks...Coop's huevos are in the sling. Hitters...IT'S YOU!

TCSN: White Sox Draft Preview
QUOTE (quickman @ Jun 4, 2008 -> 11:27 AM) As I mentioned in other threads I saw him play in the spring, he can flat out hit. He clearly stood out as a higher caliber player then his teammates. What's crazy about Wallace is I think his numbers would have been better if Pat Murphy wouldn't have dicked around with him batting him leadoff for the first 15-18 games. I think he might have gotten 100 RBIs hitting in the 3-hole all year...I think he's a tad over 80. Ike Davis was no slouch at the plate either this year hitting around .395 with 16 dingers and over 2 dozen doubles. The whole team has nine guys hitting over .333 on the year. We'll see how they fare now in the Super Regionals. Luckily they missed going against Matusz and San Diego when Fresno knocked them out. They sure put a beating on people in their regional.

White Sox sign Esteban Loaiza/Option Wassermann
QUOTE (DBAH0 @ Jun 4, 2008 -> 10:00 AM) So would Wasserman get sent down, Loaiza becomes the long - man, and Masset moves into Wasserman's role in the pen perhaps? That makes complete sense.....

6/3 - Sox vs. KC, 7:11 CT, WCIU
QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Jun 3, 2008 -> 07:08 PM) Without a doubt Vaz. I have been beating the "underrated drum" for a while now, but IMO he is the first player on the "closest thing to an ace" list. With Quentin on the roster, along with Swisher(who will rebound), it's almost a no brainier right now. Here is a question. If Quentin could play an adequate CF, who would AZ rather have right now, Young or Quentin? IF being the optimum word there...but until Young hits for better avg...I'd rather have CQ.
