  1. this is an excellent read and poses a great question in terms of "you need an elite HOF QB to win"....even mentions Trubisky at the beginning. http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/24801136/how-nfl-teams-trade-young-qb-starters-thrive-bill-barnwell-2018
  2. Good read from Fishbain...talks about the Bears stalling in the red zone. https://theathletic.com/550749/2018/09/26/how-the-bears-can-avoid-stalling-in-the-red-zone-and-score-more-touchdowns/ One thing I picked up in this...and I've been vocal about my disdain for some of the play calling...especially in the red zone but I saw this: "As efficient as the Chiefs have been on offense over the years, they were 29th in the league in the red zone last season and 30th in 2016. Alex Smith completed only 44.9 percent of his passes inside opposing teams’ 20-yard line in 2017, but he never threw a pick and tossed 13 touchdowns." Coincidence? How long has Nagy been calling plays for the Chiefs? Was it just last year? And this year...Chiefs are lighting it up in the red zone. Hope he figures this shit out...and soon.
  3. you guys can admire/root for him all ya want. Like I said...I'm not saying hasn't worked hard or his story wasn't good. But the "I'm unhappy" trade me bullshit...along with his little hollywood marky mark bromance has kinda turned me off. And if he wants to do the Jason richardson thing and bang his teammates girlfriend...well...whatever. Rumor or not...which seems like there's more fire than smoke here....just not cool.
  4. my profile name has/is Wanne on every single board I'm on...since the mid 90's.
  5. yeah...too bad he isn't a Supreme Court nominee? But I digress. I've read that quit a few places...but regardless...the Jimmy Butler star has faded in my eye. Sure he works hard...but he has turned into a prima donna jerkoff.
  6. Remember those feel good stories about Jimmy Butler when he first came into the league...and how hard he had it and scraped by for everything he had...and what a good solid citizen he was and wanted to set a good example for kids? me neither.
  7. I wish everyone had the opportunity to go back and watch the replay on gamepass. Honestly...besides missing a few throws...Trubisky really didn't play all that bad. Need to come away with TDs in the Red Zone...but I wasn't enamored with the play calling really...and a few choices he made. But honestly wasn't all the bad. He made some really nice throws too. Watching the replay...Kyle Long did Trubs no favors in the 1st qt. Nkemdiche made him look silly more than a few times. Miller's should injury is a head scratcher. He went down on it early in the game...and on a few plays he wasn't even touched and came up limp armed. Then came back and made a plays showing no effect. Strange. Bryce Callahan played a really nice game.
  8. and I'm going to venture to say Anthony Miller is done for the year. Can't see him getting better and he might as well have surgery now before he causes more damage.
  9. Comparing Trubisky this year...and Alex Smith in his 8th professional season when he started in Andy Reid's O seems a little ridiculous wouldn't you say? I'd hope to God he'd put up decent numbers....
  10. tempered enthusiasm comes to mind. he's been all in on him since Day 1. I hear what you're sayin'...but Nagy just gushes over him. Would he throw himself out there that far and have people question his evaluation skills if he didn't think it to be true...especially with his first HC gig.
  11. Saw this too...here's the number of passing attempts in college by Trubisky compared to certain QBs in the league for a little more context. Trubisky - 572 Goff - 1568 Wentz - 612* (injured) Mayfield - 1497 Darnold - 846 Mahomes - 1349 Watson - 1207 Kid needs time/reps/experience...and I don't think Nagy would be so high on him if he didn't see what he's capable of.
  12. hear ya. It's nice to FINALLY give a crap about fall Sundays again after the past 6+ years of shit shows. I'm still holding out a some hope for Illini hoops.
  13. that's swell and all...then he gives "his QB he gave up two 1st round picks for" some of THE WORST offensive lines I've ever seen....and a few years of laughable WR units. Jerry forgot there's more than a good QB. But hey...the Bears still got there with Grossman....Rex not Les. And yet you're still hinging on that powerball odds of getting a HOF QB with one of those picks lol. It's really comical you're not happy with having Mack right now. BTW....have you seen the QB class coming out next year? Which HOFer would you take out of that stellar class?
  14. actually the crux of your argument is you're pissed that the Bears gave up two 1st round picks on the astronomical chance they'd have even the remotest of possibilities of landing a HOF QB with one of those picks with a middle of the round or probably better pick. Btw...Brett Favre 2nd round. Montana was a 3rd round pick. Dan Fouts 3rd. Fran Tarkenton 3rd. Sonny Jurgenson 4th. Tom Brady 6th. Johnny Unitas 9th. Roger Staubach 10th.
  15. pretty sure he was referring to the Bears winning a Super Bowl with fairly mediocre gunslinger. You can take whatever position you want...but you're pretty much in the 1% now with that train of thought. And look at it this way...look who the Bears #1 pick this past year gets to learn from now. His work ethic....tendencies...etc. But you'd rather have those two picks in case you're in a position to draft a HOF QB. Every QB you draft is a craps role. There's no sure things....and this ain't the 80s. Hell...if the Bears didn't have Bray on the PS...I'd have snatched up Luke Falk. I think he's perfect for this O. You need a serviceable QB...controls the ball...and doesn't lose you games. I really don't get what you're argument even is anymore? Is it about you're unhappy with Trubisky?...so I hate the Mack trade? mkaaaaay.
  16. LOL....yeah...that was comical. He left the game. Hopefully he's better by next week.
  17. what the hell does Khalil Mack have to do with Trubisky? If you EVER get a chance to land one of the top...if not THE top defensive player in the league for a couple of 1st rounders (who very well may end up being pretty meh and mediocre at best)...it's pretty much a no-brainer. I can't believe anybody is unhappy with this deal still given what Mack's brought to the table already and how he's escalated the level of play on the D. Good lord....
  18. he should just have it now then. I'm honestly surprised they left him back on the field if he dislocated it earlier in the game. Our 2nd round draft pick for next year gone like a fart in the wind. I read if he has surgery it's like a 6 month rehab. If he keeps playing on it...it'll just make it worse.
  19. Not sure it was 75...I'd say 50-50...but there sure were a lot of Bear fans there. I know people want to keep Harping on Trubisky...and I don't know about most of you but some of these plays, sets and formations...what in the hell? Very high-schoolish. Sure Trubisky needs a more touch on his throws...but I just don't see these plays that are being called. What's the big head scratcher to me is the lack of throws to Burton. Good lord...the middle on intermediate route is wide open....all the time usually. Does he miss Shaheen that much? Bears carried 5 TEs out of camp...but rarely throw to them (with Sims and his skillet hands you can see why). I get it's a work in progress...but still...some of the play calls are just mind-boggling. On the QB hits too...one play in the 1st half...Trubisky hands the ball off and gets absolutely drilled by a Cardinal...well after the hand off and right in front of the referee. Was completely unnecessary...and no call.
  20. and my season has officially been validated. crappy year. some good. some bad. But kicking the shit outta the Cubs...PRICELESS!!!!
  21. I'm still literally sick to my stomach over this even happened. Can this team catch a friggin break once in a while? The only silver lining with this for me is when I look at Dylan Cease.
  22. that said...I think they kick the ever living shit out of the Cards next week. Can't wait!
  23. I'm really not a Kyle Fuller fan. Never have been. Hated when they picked him...really don't like him now. That dropped INT that would have sealed the W last week...I still can't get that shit outta my head. And he's making 12 large. Honestly wish the Bears wouldn't have matched the offer and let him walk to the puckers.
