I think the team and the team-related press benefits by the Sox having interest in free agents. We may or may not try to sign Salty, but either way you want articles like this so that fans are constantly checking for more news and thinking about the White Sox during free agency.

I think the most progressive thing we saw from Bush was his funding of AIDS-related initiatives in Africa. With little to gain politically within his own party, that seems to be a thing that simply meant a lot to him.

There are things that are dearly important and we are all willing to pay a little bit to make sure they don't pay so much that the activity is no longer economically feasible. Since the government owns the roads, it serves the democratic function of allowing people to move around without too much expense as well - not as cheaply as high speed rail, for instance, but still cheaply and independently.

In 2012, he walked 7.7% of the time at home versus 3.9% away as well. This year it was 3.3 versus 3.0, respectively. Not sure why he quit walking or why that is different based on ballpark either.

It seems the only reason to hope for Dunn to go away is out of emotional anger over his contract or because of nostalgia about PK. Otherwise, it just makes too much sense to hold him and wait

If Dunn has bopped 20-25 HR at the A-S break and has an .800 OPS or better, he may well net a king's ransom on the trade market. He is the exact type of player people go bonkers over when there is hardly any more money owed. When he's only owed a half year's salary, we'll probably be much more open to tossing in some money as well.

I will say that all along it seems that there is something we don't know. The people in the locker room seemed too surprised. Now, it could just be that Martin was really just too terrified to let on that he was having problems...even after he left the team.

It seems to me that a lot of journalists who are tired of hearing about their supposed bias are taking this chance to show that they criticize everyone.

There's a truism in psychology that basically says if you're paid to do something that you would normally do for free (well, you know, without being paid) that you will suddenly become far less inclined to do that thing just for its intrinsic rewards. I feel like that is related to this issue.
