  1. We want to give young guys playing time, but hate the young guy we give playing time.
  2. 31.5 million dollars on the DL right now for the sox.
  3. QUOTE (fathom @ May 2, 2013 -> 08:23 PM) People keep talking about his babip, but it's hard to take comfort in that when his outs are so weak. I wonder if he came into camp way out of shape due to his leg injury during the offseason. Unclear if he's even healthy right now. I would be shocked if he didn't start seeing some bench when Gordon returns.
  4. QUOTE (fathom @ May 2, 2013 -> 08:20 PM) The pitching looks promising, but holy cow are there a lot of potential holes on offense heading into next season (C, 1B, 2B, CF) Dayan can play a pretty big role in how our offense looks going forward. Have to hope he can take that mantle at 1B, or at least hit like a 1Bman while he plays LF. I'm not about to give up on ADA either.
  5. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 2, 2013 -> 08:10 PM) Way too early on Gillaspie. To not be a platoon player, he has to prove he can hit lefties or Keppinger/Greene will eventually get those AB's. Rios is a franchise player nearing his mid 30's and will be declining soon. If he's the building block for the future, other than Sale/Quintana/Santiago, we're in deep deep trouble. While he's a VERY good player, he's not a superstar and the organization would be better off spending that money on developing younger players or using that playing time for prospects who are part of the future. Alexei is what he is...great or highlight reel, but sometimes erratic/brain cramp defense, and a 675-700ish OPS. Same issue with Rios as far as age and contract going in the wrong direction. You guys are hard to please. Other than a bunch of great-looking starting pitching under contract for 3 or more years, a five-tool OFer on a fair contract for 2 more years, one of the most consistently good SS's in the MLB on the squad for 3 more years, we suck! Young 3B that is raking? Unlike those old guys that have produced too much to excite us, he hasn't produced enough. We clearly need something like a 25 year old Frank Thomas or three to show that we're going in the right direction. We don't like our old 1B is producing. We'll get 13.5 million to replace him. 9 million in savings from losing Gavin Floyd. If Danks doesn't work out, I expect there will be insurance payouts to help offset that. We're also in a major market and it is unclear whether we're even at the top of our possible expenditures. We could buy a major free agent if they hit the market -- a Pujols type of player, if we want.
  6. Casper no like big curveball
  7. No defense.
  8. Rotation looks about as good as one can look for the foreseeable future. Rios is a franchise player. Alexei is as solid as ever. Gillaspie looks like he can hold down the hot corner. We have money coming off the books this offseason to buy some quick improvements.
  9. There's all kinds of good in this organization. No need to fret. Also, Wells' slide was pure genius because it made it damn difficult to tell where the ball landed
  10. Moreland damn near ended Dunn's season there. What a f***ing idiot.
  11. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ May 2, 2013 -> 07:56 PM) Can I marry Elena Della Donne?
  12. QUOTE (Reddy @ May 2, 2013 -> 07:42 PM) you guys are ignoring that they're replacing it with a quite useful requirement. i don't agree with skipping literature, but finding somewhere to require a health/nutrition class is fine by me That should be taught in primary and secondary school. Those are not academic subjects, at least in the way they are going to be taught to these students.
  13. We could really just use any warm bodies. Also, what's with the god damn offensive foul calls against Taj?
  14. Brook Lopez would give LeBron a run for his money when it comes to b****ing at the refs
  15. QUOTE (buhbuhburrrrlz @ May 2, 2013 -> 07:26 PM) joakim playing his ass off He took those rebounding statistics to heart
  16. QUOTE (Big Hurtin @ May 2, 2013 -> 07:22 PM) Veiled shot at Rose?, or just being an a-hole? Being an asshole. Meanwhile, we can't slow down their offense at all.
  17. Barkley criticizing Deng for not playing. You have GOT to be s***ting me.
  18. http://sports.yahoo.com/news/golf--deer-an...-004821402.html Anyone remember my argument about how you shouldn't give a s*** about Ray Lewis taking Deer Antler Velvet?
  19. Hopefully this is isolated to state schools. State funding never likes literature, but it is still popular among students. English programs have just started slowing in growth for the first time in a long time in higher ed., and some of that can be explained by the grown of Film and Media Studies growing influence (my field )
  20. Hard for me to take the Royals seriously with the lack of production from Hosmer/Perez/Moustakas. I'm also not a believer in that rotation. It isn't out of the realm of possibility that they succeed, but I would need to see more to put my money on them.
  21. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 2, 2013 -> 02:26 PM) Looks to me like he danced around the topic while posting everyone else's opinion that Cutler should have played. http://sports.espn.go.com/chicago/nfl/colu...&id=6052280 And thanks for making me re-live that s***. Lord, I've never seen a player get such unfair treatment from the media. Jay Cutler is one of the toughest players I've ever seen play for the Bears. Seriously.
  22. QUOTE (iamshack @ May 2, 2013 -> 02:06 PM) Well done, Jake. Only thing you could have added was the blurb about Wilbon calling out Cutler a few years back. ha, is that true?
  23. Jake replied to Dick Allen's topic in Pale Hose Talk
We didn't push any pitchers last year. We had a 6 man rotation half the time. We never skipped a fifth starter. We handle those guys with kid gloves.
  24. I was indifferent. I loved AJ, he never wronged me. He brought us a title and a pretty good ballclub in general while he was here.
