Think the angles are a little different out there in the corner or what Alejandro?

Would you rather see Donnie walk the guy or attack the zone and get hurt (not physically, I mean a hit)

QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 30, 2013 -> 09:13 PM) It was cause Ozzie thought he should be a leadoff hitter. Clearly more of a 3 hitter

My knee-jerk reaction to the bad fundamentals is to want a coach to rip them a new ass over it. Then I remember how Ozzie's teams went when the wheels began to fall of the wagon. I'll wait and see how we bounce back.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 30, 2013 -> 09:11 PM) Hey, we made an opposing pitcher pay for a mistake. Career homer #31 for Wise. Perhaps the most important in his SOX career since the end of the 2008 season. 60 MPH curveball floating up there. He had some big ones last year when De Aza went down, too. I have to think his stretch with the Sox since he came back last year has been his best stretch as a major leaguer. He had a real tough time his first time here, probably because Ozzie thought he should be an MLB starter

QUOTE (JoshPR @ Apr 30, 2013 -> 09:02 PM) If so, why does Alejandro himself say he ain't comfortable in center? Probably because there is a lot less ground to cover in the corners. Or he's an idiot. Who knows. Our team is far better off with him in CF with the possible exception of when Danks plays there...but in that case, why would you want to rearrange the defense for the few times he plays?

Jesus, I'm not about the jump the gun and try to get rid of the guy. He's allowed to only have a .690 OPS over a 24 game span. His K rate and BABIP stink of "blip on the radar"

QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 30, 2013 -> 08:53 PM) Why, he's mediocre out there also and has no confidence in CF. He's played >200 games out there and rates 2.3 UZR/150. He's a fine CF. When he b****es and moans and plays LF, not only does he unnecessarily screw up our continuity plus move a bad CF'er to CF (Wise), he becomes a rookie again in stadiums like this where he normally would never have to think about how the ball bounces off the walls. He has so much less value as a LF in general if he thinks that's where his future is.

That, Alejandro, is why you should be playing CF

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Apr 30, 2013 -> 01:12 PM) No it isnt. You dont get to say stupid s*** and say "Oh its my religion" Do you think it would be okay for Chris Berman to ask Ryan Braun "What do you think about the Jews killing Christ?" Hes not being discriminated against, its not because hes a Christian, its because hes an idiot who did something stupid. Religion is not a blanket get out of jail free card. Yes it is. That's what Jesus came for

QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Apr 30, 2013 -> 12:32 PM) Anyone see the video of Bryan Bullington throwing at a player in Japan or Korea who called timeout? He was awarded timeout, and Bullington fired the pitch right at him. LOL.

Wizards' Jason Collins
QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Apr 30, 2013 -> 11:52 AM) Oh f*** that. This is a perfect example of the double standard that exists with people that cry out about discrimination and tolerance. Broussard says that Collins being gay doesn't compute with his version of Christianity and people are saying he should be fired. God, how dare he have a personal belief and some conviction to tell people about it! That's so progressive and tolerant to be understanding of other people that way. So accepting! I'm not thrilled about Broussard's comments, but if ESPN wanted a Christian POV on the air, then Broussard delivered one of the more sober ones I could ask for.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Apr 30, 2013 -> 10:14 AM) It's not meaningless and I said this story is significant. I just don't think the ZOMG! FINALLY, A PROFESSIONAL SPORTS PLAYER HAS COME OUT, QUEUE THE PARADE! response was really justified. That's all. Part of it was less about what he did but also making as obvious a display as possible that he and everyone like him is welcome. Making as positive of a reaction as possible is important to making the atmosphere hospitable for others to come out and be happy with their lives. A hushed response or (of course) a negative response would just leave Jason out there hanging. The one gay guy. There are people out there watching and seeing if Jason made a mistake and the media and public are making sure that everyone else knows it isn't a mistake to live your life in the open.

White Sox acquire Casper Wells.
QUOTE (Soxfest @ Apr 30, 2013 -> 11:44 AM) If Wells contributes at all Wise or Danks will be gone. I agree. Once Dayan comes back we should have one lefty, one righty on the bench.

career .830 OPS vs. lefties, that's when he'll be playing

Wizards' Jason Collins
FWIW, the comment was made in context of Collins supposedly being a devout Christian. I'm still happy for him to lose his job, but I don't see him as the worst guy ever. Pretty s***ty analyst in general, though.

Perfect, though I hope this doesn't mean Dayan is further from returning. He probably has inside track to stay in place of one of Danks/Wise when all are healthy.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 29, 2013 -> 05:57 PM) If Broussard wants to call people out for living in sin, can't he call out about 95% of the NBA? I don't understand why someone has to hide or be ashamed of being gay. It is what they are. Some guys like big boobs, some guys like blondes, some guys like guys. Collins isn't a very significant player, and Broussard would never really have to talk to him. If it were a really big name, he would have said nothing today. He did do that. Except most NBA players don't announce that they are having premarital sex. But he did say that those who have premarital sex are similarly living in sin.
