It probably has narrowed the gap, but I'm sure there's still a logical spread. It wouldn't shock me if the split had gone from 8-10 to 6-8 though

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Mar 28, 2013 -> 01:21 PM) Im saying both NBA and NCAA have bad refereeing for the most part. Saying that the NBA is damn good compared to NCAA isnt really saying much, they are both bad But how do we know this is bad if no good exists?

2012-2013 NBA thread
QUOTE (kev211 @ Mar 28, 2013 -> 11:37 AM) Sorry but when I watch sports if the other team outright wins then you lost. I don't give a f*** whether it happened in regulation. The reason they do it like this is because you wouldn't feel like you deserved to lose a basketball game if it was decided by a free throw contest. QUOTE (Swingandalongonetoleft @ Mar 28, 2013 -> 12:05 PM) I bet whatever he said at the end of that exchange was funny. Wish I could have heard. Carlos Boozer, for all the whining there is about him/his contract- has been a joy to have on this team, and is under-appreciated by armchair GMs everywhere. Carlos is a good and very valuable player. Our team will be undeniably worse whenever we decide to cut him loose. His main sin is not being a good defender (though he's made huge strides in that area, he clearly just lacks the instincts of a good defender) and being paid at market value. Market value players in the NBA aren't really cost efficient. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Mar 28, 2013 -> 12:08 PM) NBA officiating is actually damn good especially in comparison to the travesty that is college basketball officiating. Agreed. And to the "tallest midget" thing, to what referent are you comparing. Older NBA officials? High school officiating?

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Mar 27, 2013 -> 09:39 AM) Well, I still had more confidence in him as a backup than um... who is the Bears backup now? I've heard murmurs from the beat guys that the Bears plan was to just go with McCown to save money. Has Grossman signed? He'd honestly be great as a backup. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Mar 27, 2013 -> 10:08 AM) Didnt they stash a kid on the practice squad that did decent in preseason last year? Really big kid, I think he was D2 QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Mar 27, 2013 -> 11:32 AM) Matt Blanchard. Blanchard is from D3 UW-Whitewater, was once my big brother's backup

Yes -- when I see headlines like the one SS posted, it simply points out the flaw in the system. It benefits people to do worse for their employees. I don't have a perfect solution, this is just going to be a growing problem in a post-industrial society.

2012-2013 NBA thread
He's created a tremendous amount of pressure for himself and every day he waits, the pressure to return and to perform even better when he returns grows. It's a tough spot for him, though it is almost entirely self-created. "He'll return soon! All-Star break probably!" "... he needs a few more days. He wants to be 110%!" "Okay... At least he'll be dominant when he comes back now!" "Okay, maybe a little longer. He wants to not only be 110%, but also find a way to impregnate his MVP trophy." "Aww s***, his return is going to be NUTS" "We're so sorry, he's been MVP-esque in practice and he just wants to be totally ready." "We're going to win the 'ship if he just comes back!" *kill self*

He's supposed to play in games as part of his rehab and I'd just assume he gets that process going sooner rather than later. You let him play whenever he says he's ready, and then Thibs/FO can decide if he's ready for the playoffs.

FWIW, PFF rated both of our new LB's in 2012 Urlacher territory last year. This isn't to say that better coaching, supporting casts, etc. can't change these things.

There should be no argument about gay marriage, though. This is who gets a fundamental right -- there's nothing to wait for. The science thing is BS just like it would have been with women or blacks, like someone else says. The fact is that we KNOW that groups are inherently unequal in myriad ways. The key is that the government and law should do as little decision-making as to who is better than who as possible. People become less unequal when we treat them like equals. Also, there's no f***ing disagreement about gay families and their damage to children, etc in the scientific community. TP's rebuttal to George Will's nonsense on the subject pretty much hits the spot. Linky
