QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 22, 2012 -> 08:34 PM) I'm going to make the prediction this is the last start we see from him in Sox jersey. Just have a feeling the Sox will try to unload him if they think Santiago can be a starter. Unless he can fetch something valuable, I think he is at the least very important depth. -

Just can't get yourself in a spot where you throw this many pitches in an inning. It's like doing a max rep set on bench press, you cross a threshold where you're not going to be the same the rest of the day. -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 22, 2012 -> 08:28 PM) The dude is 23. He might get "Sent down" next year, but he gets a long leash in terms of development given what he's done this year. Yeah, I was referring only to his role as MLB starter. Obviously he'll probably be in our system for a few years even if he doesn't do really well next year. -

I'm not ready to close the book on Q, but he won't get a real long leash next year. We won't know until then if this is fatigue related or not. -

What is our record in games when ADA hits a leadoff bomb? The last two that I remember, we lost. -
Why the word "apology"? I haven't seen where someone says sorry. I just see us saying that the government didn't produce a video that has incited lethal violence all over the world nor do we support its beliefs. I have a feeling he can "run the country" while making statements on the numerous things he has to make statements on.

In general, I just don't like those hypotheticals. Too many different events. "if we didn't trade so and so" "if we beat KC more" If we were in a just universe in which we beat KC as much as we should, we'd never be sweeping the Rangers and Yankees! -

Youk had that look on his face like he thought he hit a couple bombs last night. Hopefully its a sign that he's finding the barrel. -
Is he supposed to say that the government DID produce the film? That it AGREES with its sentiments? I think clarifying to a people that only know government-issued media that that American film is not indicative of the government's feelings is a good idea. The government has no religious feelings, per the Bill of Rights

I'm coming around to the idea of putting Gordon in the 2 spot and moving Youk down to 7 (DV and Alexei move down a spot each). I also understand that Gordon's wild inconsistency would reduce my faith in him staying hot down the stretch and I understand that moving him in the order again could blow his fragile mind. So I'm not sure if I care that they haven't changed things. -

QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Sep 22, 2012 -> 03:00 PM) Serious question. if the media can find Romney's grade school grades, why can nobody find out Obama's college grades or even the classes he took? Or how he managed to pay for said college? We always hear how smart he supposedly is yet never offered any proof. I wan to know what grades he supposedly earned and in what classes he took. I heard he is stupid and got F's. It's not My job to prove it, it is HIS job to prove me wrong ala Harry Reid. College grades are considered highly private, it would be disconcerting if those could just "appear" without being given out. My main question is what is the precedent for this? Do presidents/candidates normally release their college transcripts? We know he graduated from undergrad and got a JD. You can't get into law school without pretty damn good undergrad grades, and then in professional school grades change entirely (well, in graduate school they do...I confess I don't know as much about law school). At least in recent times the Ivy League schools don't give merit scholarships to undergraduates but it is possible that the President received a great deal of need based aid. There are currently a lot of sources of funding for a minority student as well, I suppose they may have been available at that time as well. Of course, you'd have to take his word about these things since those things are kept very private and I'd imagine the records of his finances wouldn't stick around for long. You can certainly get a feel about much of his education just based on his graduation and admission from the respective schools. He doesn't appear to have been a drop-out biology major.

QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Sep 22, 2012 -> 12:45 PM) Like Obama's transcripts? Or almost anythign else to do with Obama's past? yeah, good tactic to take. Serious question -- do presidents release transcripts? Also, what kind of content on the transcript would you be interested in?

QUOTE (Reddy @ Sep 22, 2012 -> 08:58 AM) i'm pretty sure Romney is the R candidate if I'm not mistaken. I think this might be evidence that they have officially disowned him

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Sep 21, 2012 -> 02:33 PM) My whos-a-whats-its? QUOTE (Reddy @ Sep 21, 2012 -> 07:25 PM) ligament (tendon?) that stretches from the outside of your knee to your hip. It will likely hurt quite a lot to foam roll it at first. Just do it in private so no one can see you cry

QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 21, 2012 -> 11:13 PM) It's funny how baseball is so much different from every other team sport. It's pretty apparent the Sox are dead, in a funk, whatever, entering the homestretch. But in no way can Robin address this with a pep talk or team meeting or speech before or after games (unlike football, basketball where coaches talk all the time). It would be seen as a sign of panic or of weakness. So he like all managers has to act the same as he does every other day during the season and just hope the bad Sox turn into the good Sox again. The marathon nature of baseball season dictates Robin saying nothing, just making out the lineup cards day after day. It's because pep talks don't do s***. This is a game in which the manager has to look and see whether bad play is happening because of something controllable or mere chance. When the best players only succeed 30% of the time (at the plate), a long streak of failures is well within the realm of possibility on a "normal" day. A slight downturn in production (like from 4 runs a game to 3 runs a game, which usually constitutes the difference between a winning run and a losing run) is bound to happen fairly often just by chance. You can't treat it like a football coach would because in football most players execute at an extremely high rate by nature of the game. You can't out-motivate chance. Having heads up asses and being in a statistically likely bad stretch look remarkably similar. Managers have to discern which is occurring and strong reactions usually wind up with a manager getting bad about things that are bound to happen, statistically. Robin can focus on the mistakes like the fielding, baserunning ones and just hope the offensive issues are going to be self-correcting. Obviously Manto is always going to be working hard to keep players going, so you can't say that he needs to suddenly change his style.

QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Sep 21, 2012 -> 12:45 PM) How the heck do you try to win 60-65% of the white vote without being divisive and or racist? I hope Mr Genius wasn't being serious with that post. It's more that certain messages appeal to that demographic. You don't say "hey white people, policy policy policy!" You just say "policy policy policy" and realize that it won't appeal to most minorities. "policy policy policy" being whatever you think is a message that appeals to whites opposed to non-whites QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ Sep 21, 2012 -> 12:53 PM) The reason minorities vote Democrat is because they are seen as more inclusive and more helpful to the working class. Latinos are more culturally conservative (family oriented, church goers) but they vote for theireconomic interests, simple as that. The GOP could nominate Rubio next time but Latinos won't vote for him if his policies don't help working class citizens. Not to mention Rubio would just be seen as a Cuban, a demographic that already votes Republican and makes up about 30% of Hispanics in the USA

We've sure been doing a lot of traveling lately. We could probably benefit from being able to prioritize getting some extra work in instead of just trying to get the guys rested.

How could such a horrible team ever have a better record than the Angels?
