  1. re: Rios play If you see it from another angle, Rios saw that Guthrie was guarding the plate with his glove right near the ground so he was trying to not slide right into the tag. He actually dodged the initial tag attempt but barely missed the plate on that same stride. Also, AJ had terrible form blocking that "wild pitch" and that's why it got away.
  2. Have to slide into home, pitchers don't know how to tag on a play like that
  3. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 20, 2012 -> 07:36 PM) I love the bunt fathom has been hacked
  4. MLB.tv says it has had "too many attempts by this email/pass combination recently"
  5. The things I hear complaints about with Hawk the most are things that don't happen that often. Even before that epic ripping of Wegner he had drastically reduced his criticisms of umpires. You go weeks/months without hearing a word about Yaz. While his superlatives about players are sometimes false, they are nonetheless reserved for a very select few. It may annoy you every time he does that incorrectly, but don't act like there's a player on every team that he thinks is the best ever. YOU think that because you think him complimenting a player means that. I feel like some Sox fans watch the game, don't listen to Hawk at all, and just wait for him to do something "wrong." When they only take note of the things they don't like, that's all they think exists. It's very similar to the way we like to say certain players are worthless in game threads.
  6. The main question with Youk is not his "loyalty" but rather whether he would give us a fair shot at signing him as a FA after we buy him out. I don't think he'll get nearly that much as a FA and I don't see any FA options coming soon. The main issue will be the years, I suppose, but I don't see anyone giving him many years either.
  7. Something to consider re: lefties John Danks RHB: .252 LHB: .269 Jose Quintana RHB: .277 LHB: .256 Hector Santiago RHB: .212 LHB: .202 Chris Sale RHB: .212 LHB: .224 Our lefties don't have LOOGY type stuff (sans Sale, but he clearly dominates both kinds of hitters) and I think that shows up in their splits. Quintana throws a cutter inside to righties (Buehrle) as his primary out pitch. Danks uses cutter and/or changeup to righties as an out pitch. Santiago uses the screwball and fastball as out pitches. All of these pitchers' best out pitches work better against the opposite hand hitter. Looking at splits for other teams doesn't necessarily account for the individual repertoire of THESE lefties, since a couple of them hardly even use a curveball, for instance.
  8. The manager is not the problem. In fact, I don't really think there are very big problems.
  9. I've converted several people at my college to become White Sox (and baseball, even) fans based a great deal on Hawk Harrelson. They love watching games when he's broadcasting and they are always disappointed when the Sox are on a national broadcast. If my girlfriend misses a game, she always wants me to play her the home run highlights so she can hear the call. He's fun, get over it.
  10. Can't we require that these people seek work?
  11. So. I have a torn labrum and infraspinatus in my right shoulder (the one I throw with). I have a torn RC in my left shoulder (perhaps from training with a torn labrum in the other shoulder). I also have a herniated disc in my low back. The amount of productive things I can do in the weight room right now is sadly low. Arms and the sissiest of leg exercises, basically.
  12. I remember when our season was over and stuff
  13. QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Sep 18, 2012 -> 04:12 PM) So why then was anything Romney said so bad? He told the truth! Oh my God, never do that! He didn't lie, he just said that he isn't interested in trying to gain their votes. This suggests that he won't be helping them, especially since he went on to broadly characterize them as basically leeches.
  14. I get irritated with the costs of preventative care like simple visits to the doctor, different tests like colonoscopy, etc. Why should my parents be paying out of pocket for things that will likely save the insurance money down the line?
  15. I imagine that sunofgold uses the best kinds of drugs
  16. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Sep 18, 2012 -> 03:02 PM) So your justifying why you're voting for the lesser of two evils. Got it. Religious people do this same exact thing. lol, but I don't find them to be evil. If evil = less than perfect, then sure. I don't perceive this to be "all candidates will hurt the country upon taking office, I have to choose the one that will hurt it least." I think the candidate I choose will make the country better.
  17. I often post on a baseball recruiting website and was speaking to a scout there. There was a discussion about social media and its effect on recruiting and he mentioned that the White Sox had fully infiltrated Courtney Hawkins' twitter, facebook, etc. and even went so far as to send people to check out the meanings of various postings. Very interesting depth of scouting, IMO
  18. I grow a blonde mustache, which is easily the creepiest color. It almost sneaks up on you.
  19. I don't think I'm voting for the lesser of two evils. I think they're both good men and fully intend to do a good job. I think one has a terrible philosophy. The other I admire, even if he doesn't or hasn't implemented it to my exact expectation.
  20. Is this where I claim that every politician sucks so that everyone knows how realistic I am?
  21. Why is it that everything either candidate does "won't change anyone's vote"? Something has to change them or there wouldn't be turnover in these elections!
  22. I can't imagine how the referees could want so much money that this is worth it to the league.
  23. My powerlifting and bodybuilding friends both swear by Inov-8s. They're in the MSRP range of the shoe you just mentioned, might be worth a look. I don't have a pair so I won't vouch for them, but you should check 'em out.
