  1. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Nov 27, 2012 -> 11:17 AM) In his TMQ column, Gregg Easterbrook pointed out a loophole in the 'red flag on a scoring play' rule that some coach could take advantage of: 1) Team A scores a touchdown on a play that is almost certain to be reversed upon review. 2) Team A's coach throws the challenge flag with the specific intent of having the review nullified. Team A gets a 15 yard penalty, but the touchdown stands. Doesn't work like that. Throwing the flag only prevents you from benefiting from the play, not preventing review. At least, this is how it was explained on TV.
  2. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 27, 2012 -> 10:17 AM) She stated the case presented to him. She didn't know it was bulls***, she was doing what CIA should have been doing - quesitoning everything. But in the end, she had to go with what they told her. She just made sure they fully staked it, which is all she could really do. Look, now you're talking about Susan Rice! Except people want her head on a platter. Colin Powell followed his marching orders and all we got was countless deaths, a lot of wasted money, an increasingly antagonistic Middle East, etc....but everybody loves Colin Powell! The real question to be asked is whether the CIA is doing nearly a competent enough job given the amount of scandal it has produced versus useful information.
  3. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 26, 2012 -> 08:45 PM) That's totally not anything resembling the proposed filibuster reforms. Everything I've read says They'll keep 60 voted but remove the filibuster on the motion to proceed, and maybe require the minority to actually hold the floor rather than the current painless filibuster, if they can even pull those off. I hope they go nuclear.
  4. I f***in love it.
  5. Appreciate all the updates ss2k5

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Nov 24, 2012 -> 11:49 PM) Galaxy Tab 2 at 179 or Nexus 7 at 200? The latter IMO. The Nexus 7 is just a fabulous value.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Nov 24, 2012 -> 12:30 PM) I apparently will have the Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 under the xmas tree, now I have to wait. Let me know what you think of the ASUS. I played with a transformer over the weekend and the screen was so-so. I hope it's alright. I haven't played too much -- I didn't notice much of a tactile difference between the screens, but as expected the Samsung looks better. I bit on the Tegra processor and I liked Asus's reputation on putting out OS updates. If the s*** don't work, I'll be tearing it a new ass everywhere I can
  10. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 24, 2012 -> 12:00 PM) Yeah, but had that option been on the ballot and statehood had won, it would have been much more interesting. You can't suggest that the non-binding vote was indicating a desire to change the current relationship when the status quo wasn't a given choice. They voted for an anti-statehood governor, so the status quo is probably what they are interested in.
  11. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 24, 2012 -> 11:41 AM) Puerto Rico didn't "Vote to become a state", FWIW: they were given 2 choices, statehood or a move away from the U.S. The Status Quo was not an option on the ballot. It was non-binding, anyway
  12. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 24, 2012 -> 10:08 AM) Not to mention that the Sox are neck-deep in cheap left-handed starting pitching. You have ensured that the events of next season will make the opposite of this true. Down years for everyone!

If you guys are wondering, I got the Asus. I'll be happy to explain my choice if anyone is still up in the air.
  14. QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Nov 23, 2012 -> 10:49 AM) Do you just ignore all the politicians, news media, imams, school texts and so on that call for the destruction of Israel? The daily death threats from Iran? You have nothing like that towards any arab country from Israel. Jews treat Palestinians in their hospitals. What treatment do you think a wounded Jew would get in a Pali hospital? So the way to fix this is to continue antagonizing them?
  15. I'd be thrilled with both of those choices.
  16. QUOTE (greg775 @ Nov 22, 2012 -> 09:49 PM) Why do you say that? In saying that, you imply it's kind of a dumb comment, showing little baseball knowledge. I think it shows a lot of baseball knowledge of our Sox. Remember when we got Wise and he was amazing for 2 weeks or so?? Then it was over. The hot streak was done and all he did was make outs and I think he made a few defensive gaffes or baserunning blunders as well. I love Wise but as a fan I'd rather see somebody else out there. Somebody new. People on here clamor for change, well I'd agree in this case. Give me another backup outfielder. We know what Dweezey can do and that is get hot for a two-week stretch or so, which is fine. His whole body of work is .230ish, however. Why is it dumb to say Robin should play him during that torrid stretch, then when he sees it's over, just bench him for good? Can you deny he gets hot, then is not? The point is that it is difficult to tell whether a player is in a legitimate slump or if he's just having one of the slower stretches that is bound to happen, statistically So saying to just bench him when his slump starts makes it sound far easier than it is to actually tell when a player needs to get benched.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Nov 22, 2012 -> 09:51 PM) Driving around town I saw a huge line in front of Target. I mean HUGE. What u think Target has that has people in this Kansas town going gaga? Cheap TVs and computers

Ugh, just can't decide between the Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 and the Asus TF300. Asus has the processor and camera, and that's about it. But the processor is a big thing to have. EDIT: After more and more research, it's gotta be the Asus at $280.
  19. It's starting to look like the team we thought we were getting when these guys were recruited.
  20. Also, Big Hurt Beer pairs well with Illini Basketball
  21. I don't care about all this other s***, but this Illini team is extremely fun to watch.

  23. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Nov 21, 2012 -> 10:32 PM) Best way to describe it is a clusterf***. The holiest site in all of Judaism (the Foundation Stone) is located in the Dome on the Rock. Hell, it IS the Rock. Jews can't go to their holiest spot because it's literally covered by a Mosque. It sounds so funny until you remember all the dying and stuff and how we gave one side of that argument nukes.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Nov 21, 2012 -> 10:33 PM) The size difference is quite drastic actually, but if that's not your concern, Nexus 7 is great. It is a concern for sure, but I'm just trying to weigh all the options.
  25. Jake replied to Jake's topic in SLaM
If I go for Nexus 7 (price concerns), what do I lose from the 10 inch models like Nexus 10, Galaxy Tab 2 10.1, ASUS, etc other than size?
