  1. QUOTE (Capn12 @ Apr 21, 2013 -> 03:56 PM) I love how we paid a career utility player, to be an everyday starter. When Gordon returns/if Gordon had never been hurt, I'm not sure if that is true. Again, though. Have we played our 20th game? It's one thing to hate on Dunn. He's had a season like this before and the brand of bad he's been is utterly spectacular. Everyone else, though...can we show some patience?
  2. Glad to see we have no reason to play the next 140 games
  3. I like this strategy of "alternate the two left-handed CFs so that neither can get in a rhythm" Or...maybe Tekotte will start tomorrow
  4. I don't see how there are any guarantees that Derrick comes back at the beginning of next year. The threshold for feeling good enough is incomprehensible for us both.
  5. We do not have enough left handed hitting outfielders
  6. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Apr 20, 2013 -> 09:15 PM) I'd have to say his 3 most recent starts are more relevant than what he did 6 years ago. Sure, but I presented 1000 innings of statistics. Not just 2007. Gavin is a fairly well known entity. There is a lot of uncertainty with Axe, and not much that suggests he's worth giving extra starts. I've been as much of a fan of Axe as a person can be -- I think he's an MLB starter. I do not think he's better than Gavin or should be starting instead of Gavin. I also think he should be in AAA or in our bullpen (or maybe flipped for a replacement level-ish bat so he can play for a team with room for him)
  7. QUOTE (Capn12 @ Apr 20, 2013 -> 09:13 PM) Do Gavin's 2007 stats impact his next start? I'd say they are about as useful as 3 starts worth of statistics
  8. Indeed. Not much good to say. Carlos had a good offensive day. Some nice offensive possessions by Jimmy.
  9. QUOTE (Capn12 @ Apr 20, 2013 -> 08:48 PM) Pitcher #1 : 0-3, 6.32 ERA, 15.2 IP, 22 H, 11 ER, 3 HR allowed, 7 BB, 18 K's, 1.85 WHIP Pitcher #2 : 0-1, 4.70 ERA, 15.1 IP, 17 H, 8 ER, 2 HR allowed, 7 BB, 9 K's, 1.57 WHIP Who deserves the bump for one start? Pitcher #1 Pitcher #2
  10. Andray Blatche making 20 footers. What to do?
  11. is Nate Robinson dead? Kirk is playing his worst defensive game right now.
  12. Good God defense...and they can't miss when we do play half-ass decent D
  13. You can't skip Gavin because he has been a fine starter for years. You skip Axe not because he should be released, but because he's your worst starter.
  14. Just tuning in. We got this!
  15. Tough day. Here's hoping things change soon. Lots of players playing a lot differently than we expected, and not really any of them exceeding expectations short of Gillaspie (hasn't produced much) and maybe Rios, who seems to just be replicating last season.
  16. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Apr 20, 2013 -> 05:36 PM) Well, can't pinch run now..... You silly
  17. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 20, 2013 -> 05:35 PM) His bat speed looks AAA-ish. Not surprising, I never heard anyone actually think he could make it at this level. I like the shape of his swing, but he never hits anything. Ever.
  18. If Keppinger can't outplay Paul Konerko at 1B, we should revisit the logic of that signing
  19. Looks like our new GM is not looking great so far. His biggest signing is playing pretty damn poorly and his construction of the bench with these injuries is fairly puzzling. And some people thought there may have been some way to dump Dunn in the offseason... But, we've played what, 15 games? Lots of time left to forget all of this.
  20. Lots of time for things to turn around
  21. Someone fill me in on what happened, I'm FOX'd out of viewing
  22. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 20, 2013 -> 05:22 PM) I mentioned this in the Viciedo thread, but it's crazy how poorly this bench is constructed with both Danks and Tekotte on the roster now. The Sox should be able to avoid LHP/lefty hitter, RHP/righty hitter match-ups late in a game, but they can't. Yeah, I hope we're seeking somebody outside of the org. How did this team become lefty heavy?
  23. QUOTE (chw42 @ Apr 20, 2013 -> 05:19 PM) We've had one extra basehit all day and we have 6 hits on the day, 2 of them belonging to the guy we pinch ran for. So...we had some benefit in having Paul Konerko on first base? It seems like the theory here is we never were going to score a run there and we were just going to wait until Rios-PK came to bat again. You can't manage like that.
  24. QUOTE (chw42 @ Apr 20, 2013 -> 05:17 PM) There was no reason to pinch run Greene unless you planned to run with him. He only went on the last pitch of Alexei's PA. SMH. I assumed the reason was to have a guy that could score on a double/two singles.
  25. T Flow could always go deep. Alexei can handle a bat. So can Gillaspie. Who knows when ADA, Kep will remember how to hit consistently.
