GT 7/18: Sox @ Sawx, 6:10pm
QUOTE (Baron @ Jul 18, 2012 -> 06:56 PM) Note to self: Dont let Pedro Hernandez pitch for this organization again. He will. He's not that bad guys, let's not get crazy. He may be a very valuable back of the rotation arm for us at some point.

I still like Hernandez so far. Made a bad pitch or two, but he's a rookie that just jumped two levels. It happens. I like his approach and his stuff and command are good enough. We'll see him again.

That didn't look too bad. Made a bad pitch to the first guy and from there it was all okay. Looks like he isn't afraid of the zone and had pretty good command. He can get outs at this level. Let's hope he keeps it going.

2012-2013 NBA thread
QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Jul 18, 2012 -> 04:10 PM) It's not like he was consistently a 25 PER player in Boston, that was his career high by several points. He had 7 seasons in his entire career where he cracked a 20 PER and 2 of them were on the Warriors. Injuries weren't the reason they were horrible that year. They even added Ramon Sessions and JJ Hickson played a lot more and they were still brutal. Those two and Jamison were all healthy on that 1-36 stretch (think about that a second). Williams was actually traded for Baron Davis (who was less horrible than Williams), and Varejao still played almost 60 games (plus being injury prone is one of his major issues anyways). That team wasn't suddenly playoff caliber if they all played 82 games. I feel like that whole team just quit believing when they lost LeBron. The opposite effect of what this year's Bulls team did with all of the injuries before the playoffs. Then after the ACL injury, you saw them underperform as did the LeBron-less Cavs.

MVP so far?
If Rios wants to keep his past 20+ games' pace for the next 80, he'll win more than the White Sox MVP

*Official* Work Out Thread
QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jul 17, 2012 -> 09:03 PM) Happy this thread got bumped. Since I moved to the city my diet and work out schedule has been god awful. I'm getting back at it tomorrow though so hopefully this thread being around will keep me motivated. Very frustrated at myself as I've been so obsessed with my fitness for the last 2 years, researched everything and anything and just have gone back to living my college life the last month and a half. No more f***in excuses, need to get back to where I was. I write a fitness blog called "No Excuses"

2012-2013 NBA thread
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 18, 2012 -> 10:56 AM) This Jeremy Lin backlash from the media is ridiculous. They are making it sound like the Knicks let LeBron leave for nothing. Jeremy Lin is a decent player, but doesn't fit that team at all. You don't need a point guard whose facilitating skills are iffy, shoots a lot, and turns it over a lot. You need a point guard that creates shots for Melo and Amare. Couple that with the contract and it was a no brainer.

The Pierre-Viciedo Debate
QUOTE (RZZZA @ Jul 18, 2012 -> 10:46 AM) Trading offense for pitching seems counterproductive to me...its like plugging one hole and creating another, isn't it? We cant afford to lose anybody from our line up now Someone gets it Anyways, I don't think Pierre sucks. In general, he's still a nice player. Viciedo is worth a LOT more runs than Pierre though. If ADA tore his ACL or something, I'd say sure go ahead and get Pierre. That's not what's going on though. Viciedo is a ton better and we may get to see Dayan hit 40+ HR's in a White Sox uniform. Hell, as pointed out earlier in this thread, he's another hot streak away from threatening 40 HR this year. You can see him improving already with his walk rate going up and on a related note, pitchers are afraid of him.

QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Jul 18, 2012 -> 07:48 AM) How much better would the Quentin trade look if this guy goes out and gives us 6+ innings without giving up more than a run or two? I will laugh hysterically if these guys turn out to be decent when Soxtalk was up in arms for not getting their top prospects
