  1. Does Dunn's .350 average with RISP lead the team?
  2. QUOTE (fathom @ May 6, 2012 -> 12:53 PM) Wait, Jon Garland posts on soxtalk under name Jake? I'm like Jon minus a few inches and 7-10mph, lol No WS Rings either
  3. Don't swing at inside sinkers, people doing that is the only reason I had a baseball career
  4. Too bad Eric Chavez is hurt, I know Kenny is still trying to get him
  5. Axelrod has had multiple chances to crumble like you'd expect from a young guy, but he's kept pitching well each time
  6. I don't see a reason to rush Molina up, though as always we have to concede that we aren't scouts and we aren't keeping tabs on him like the front office is
  7. Axelrod taking care of business with the bottom of the order, but Flowers f***s him over
  8. Has Molina lost fastball velocity or something? He was supposed to be a 92-95 guy with movement
  9. Our batters are basically walking to the plate with an 0-2 count right now
  10. Thatta boy Dayan, now I'd just like to see you hit a fastball
  11. QUOTE (fathom @ May 6, 2012 -> 12:30 PM) If he gets crushed, I think we'll see KW eager to call up Molina Thornton always wanted to be a starter you know...
  12. QUOTE (Reddy @ May 6, 2012 -> 12:22 PM) it's your fault Sucks for Axelrod to have to make this start after being out of the rotation for a couple weeks, not to mention against this lineup. I think he'll give us a chance to win, especially if he just gets this last out. Nice recovery by Dayan, reminds me of Quentin out there lol
  13. Sorry about the game thread guys, go Dunn! lost track of game start time
  14. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 5, 2012 -> 08:35 PM) http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/colum...,2247571.column Jake Peavy "redemption" story by Haugh. Show me the discount!!!
  15. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 5, 2012 -> 08:42 PM) I think Nate Jones has been pretty good, but iirc he had a lot of control issues in the minors. I would rather Reed do the job that he did all through college. Yeah it's great that Jones has been able to put things together, I wouldn't actually push him into the closer's role even if there weren't several people in front of him. His stuff is unbelievable though, it's easy to see why they let him flounder as a starter for so long.
  16. Have to wonder how much the starters played in Boise's blowouts, not to mention the fact I am sure in many of these non-competitive games they weren't being very aggressive with pass rush.
  17. QUOTE (chw42 @ May 5, 2012 -> 05:54 PM) I was yelling to take him out the entire time. How the f*** could you not tell he couldn't run? I think they were just trying not to burn a timeout once it was clear he wasn't okay.
  18. QUOTE (Cali @ May 5, 2012 -> 08:30 PM) Addison Reed should be the closer. He got tossed into the fire and came out clean. Might have only been one batter, but 97mph gas? Yes please. Nate Jones and his 98mph fastball AND superior offspeed pitches have something to say about that
  19. Hector has decent secondary pitches but by and large hasn't located them out of the bullpen. That one outing they were for s*** in the zone and it was clear that he was trying to ease them over the plate, giving them away. This is the type of thing lifetime starters deal with when going to the bullpen - short warmup, no mulligan first inning to "find" all your pitches, etc.
  20. We're set up to have a dynamite pen for a while now. I really think Hector should be starting though. He has a starter's repertoire, and good stuff for a starting pitcher. It seems like the adjustment to the bullpen has been difficult and certainly unnecessary now that Sale is our closer for the indefinite future.
  21. QUOTE (jeffro2525 @ May 5, 2012 -> 06:07 PM) Biggest hit of Dunns White Sox career right there. THAT is what team leaders do. When the team is down and out the big guys step up and put the team on their backs. HUGE WIN! It's nice to win a big game on the strength of our 3-4 hitters.
  22. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 5, 2012 -> 06:03 PM) Breaks the string of poor results in Detroit. We're now 3-11 in our last 14 at Comerica. Tigers were 77-0 last year when leading after 7 innings, this year they've ALREADY lost 5 games. Doubt they continue that pace and lose 27 for the entire season, but that's a difference most of us expected with Valverde being 49/49 last year in saves converted. And Floyd, ever since we acquired him, has been best against the Tigers of all AL teams. Tigers and Boston stick out to me as teams he pitches well against. Interesting since they are always so good offensively.
  23. Name Reed the closer? lol, Sale is the closer. But good for Reed, glad he got it done. Hector started the inning because of the lefties, they didn't want Reed's first save opp to be against LHB. I praise RV for knowing when to pull Hector though. and WTF Gordon? I can't even think of a reason he didn't cover second base. That changed everything. Anyways, very important win. THIS SEASON IS NOT OVER
  24. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ May 5, 2012 -> 05:38 PM) Evern his last success was a nail biter whe he walked two and gave up a single even though he managed to get out of it. No one really put good wood on him though. Infield single and two walks. Guys looked bad against his fastball, actually
  25. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 5, 2012 -> 05:35 PM) Santiago AND Thornton warming for Avila. Weird. Tough to even pick at this point
