  1. I think many people on here underestimate the change from corner OF to CF. Balls hit to center field seem routine because they hardly move. Balls hit to left and right slice and hook hard towards the foul line as a general rule, and are thus much more difficult to read. However, in CF you need to have better reads because you are responsible for a great deal of ground compared to the corners. One could certainly argue that someone with speed that struggled with the slice would do better and cover more ground in center. I have, as a matter of fact witnessed this. I've played on a team with two centerfielders, one of whom was a great CF the other was an above average CF and neither could play left or right at an acceptable level because the break on the ball was so much greater.
  2. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 31, 2008 -> 10:22 PM) Kudos to Sox fans for the following....I didn't hear one person suggest that the Sox should play PK at 3rd base. Catcher.
  3. Horrible 2 strike hack there.
  4. Buehrle definitely balks in that commercial.
  5. People just need to step up. Our bullpen wasn't as good as they were pitching at the beginning of the season, and they aren't as bad as they are pitching now.
  6. QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ Jul 31, 2008 -> 10:15 PM) IIRC Griffey has done pretty well against the Twins over his career. I may be crazy but perhaps someone who hasn't sat through the bulls*** we play at the metrodome might bring a new outlook to the team, maybe revitalize us a bit. If anyone can, I'd say we got him. He is probably the most respected hitter in the game.
  7. I hope Griff can bring a new attitude to this club. I hope next time we play at the metrodome the guys dont convince Ken that winning there is impossible.
  8. As the all-knowing Hawk says, you make your own luck. We made our own luck here. We think we have bad luck, we're gonna have it here. We've been a defeated team for 4 days.
  9. QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Jul 31, 2008 -> 10:09 PM) Ha, it's not even that I'm making unlikely predictions. It just seems like certain things are inevitable, and that's why I believe if the fans feel a certain way -- so do the players. They all have it in their heads that everything and anything can go wrong at the Metrodome. I'm with you here. A team leader or coach needs to get up and say that its bulls*** that we use some alibi for losing to the twinkies just because bad s*** always happens at the metrodome.
  10. Screw you Swisher and your falling over on all short-hops.
  11. He f***ing falls over on all short-hops. Why the hell does he do that?
  12. Dare I say it: I think Paulie would have picked it.
  13. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Jul 31, 2008 -> 09:56 PM) Twins with two strikes = their hitters shorten up, think other way and up the middle. Why they lead the league in BA with RISP and 2 outs. Sox with two strikes = swing as f***ing hard as possible. This is why we have a lot of strikeouts nearly falling over with 2 strikes. Well you see, that is what they call good baseball. We play corpseball.
  14. QUOTE (WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Jul 31, 2008 -> 09:55 PM) Swisher has been a disapointment this year. Not as advertised.
  15. Swisher sucks with 2 strikes.
  16. I'd like a hit by Swish here.
  17. And there you have it. Guerrier comfortable again.
  18. Big AB by Thome here. Sets the tone for the end of the game.
  19. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 31, 2008 -> 09:49 PM) Sure, if it was 2001 Well that's the 2-3-4 of our best hitters, and very good hitters. AND YES DYE!
  20. How would you feel knowing you had Dye-Thome-Griffey coming up here? At least the one run would seem to be a certainty.
  21. That's a good way to start. If we must go down, let's go down hard.
