Quentin & Dye
QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Jul 27, 2008 -> 11:54 AM) I see it being a tad more difficult than that. Nobody said it would be easy, but someone's got to win the games. Might as well be the better team.

WINNER
QUOTE (ScottyDo @ Jul 26, 2008 -> 10:26 PM) That stat is ludicrous if only because of the total number of times Dye has homered against them. He hasn't been with us THAT long, christ! I agree, someone should research that. It's not impossible, but not probable either.

Fields and Floyd for a SP?
QUOTE (AWhiteSoxinNJ @ Jul 26, 2008 -> 01:56 PM) My question is, say we get a SP without giving up Floyd/Danks/Javy/Buehrle, what do we do with Count? Banish him to the bullpen? He hasn't had THAT bad of a season. Just curious as to what you guys think. Yep, he goes to the pen. He's been hurt, he's been wildly inconsistent, and just isn't pitching like a starter for a world championship team. QUOTE (BaseballNick @ Jul 26, 2008 -> 02:24 PM) The worst/most inconsistent pitcher goes to the pen and becomes the long reliever. It seems like pitchers are dropping like flies of late, so the more arms the merrier. KW knows the status of the team's health and he's going to do everything in his power to field a team capable of winning it all this year. I don't doubt that for one second. Definitely do not need addition by subtraction as our pitchers drop like flies. QUOTE (WCSox @ Jul 26, 2008 -> 02:33 PM) Bingo. I would include Vazquez as part of a package for somebody like Halladay, but he obviously doesn't have nearly as much value as somebody like Floyd or Danks. I also would be willing to part with Vazquez, but seeing as he has little value for the trade market, we'll be stuck with him and wouldn't get enough in return if we did get rid of him. I would trade Contreras for a good batboy though.

Sox Interested in Duchscherer
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 25, 2008 -> 11:17 AM) Given the power the Sox possess at the other positions in the field, I could totally live with that (assuming they have the ability to trade for Figgings, which is a major if). There are wayyy too many ifs. GMs almost never manage to get all that done even when they plan it that way. See: Our past offseason.

Fields and Floyd for a SP?
My feeling is that if we acquire a starter, it needs to be an addition, not a replacement. Not nearly as much is gained if we have to take Floyd out of the rotation. I would trade anyone but the top 4 in our rotation. I want a newly acquired starter to bump Contreras out of the rotation, not to replace Floyd who has been one of our strongest starters and leave the mess that is known as Jose Contreras in to lose ballgames.

Uribe Not Going to Boston
QUOTE (rangercal @ Jul 23, 2008 -> 10:21 PM) I'd be more interested to add the count to a lowe trade contreras/Ocab for Lowe/? That would be a wonderful trade, IMO.

7/22 games
QUOTE (Jim Spencer @ Jul 23, 2008 -> 12:31 AM) For being out for a month, he still leads the International League with 72 RBIs and he's 2nd in HRs with 26 (Mike Hessman for Toledo has 30) I wondered if he was gonna get a shot with the big league club with how he was hitting.

KW not likely to make impact deals
QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jul 22, 2008 -> 09:39 PM) He picked up Mike MacDougal on July 24, 2006. He went on to be one of the best relievers in baseball from July 25th right on through to the end of the season. It's just crazy how far and how fast he fell.

Around The Horn / PTI
QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Jul 21, 2008 -> 10:36 PM) PTI has run its course IMO. It doesnt have the same zing it used to have, it seems like whenever I tune in either Kornheiser or Wilbon is gone and one of the ATH retards is filling in, and the subject matter gets completely dumbed down. ATH horn is completely atrocious, I hope it goes away never to be heard from again It would be served well to get rid of Mariotti

LOSS: Rangers 6-1 White Sox
QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jul 21, 2008 -> 09:20 PM) This bullpen's been getting progressively worse. That's not good, especially when you couple that with Vazquez, Contreras, and Floyd getting progressively worse, too. I was pleased with Javy's performance tonight, looks like he might be back on track.

Sox should trade Josh Fields
QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 20, 2008 -> 10:43 PM) The more I think about it, the more I want the Sox to trade Fields. If you can package Fields for a big time major leaguer that you'll have control over for the next few years, you have to think about it. Even if Crede doesn't return to the Sox next year, there should be a good amount of 3rd baseman available for the Sox to go after. I also feel very comfortable with using Fields to get a ML contributor, particularly a starting pitcher.

QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Jul 20, 2008 -> 03:15 PM) God no. I'd much rather have Nady or Bay. 1-0 Texas heading to the bottom of the 9th. Come on CJ Wilson! Well me too if we could have them all for the same price.
