  1. This is actually a good deal for both sides. The Cubs get some addition by subtraction in the clubhouse and get to free up money for a Magglio run if they choose. The Orioles quiet a frustrated fansbase with a guy who may draw tickets. Let's face it, he's overrated and a world-class jerk none of us like but I can see some value in adding him if I am Baltimore. It's not like he's hitting .220 with no power. He should still hit 40 if he can make 150 games. By the small amount that the Flubs are getting, I would assume Baltimore is picking up most of the tab.
  2. When you've heard that Mike WIlliams and Braylon Edwards could go 4 or 12, it just goes to show that nobody knows what the hell is going on. Teams picking 1,2 and 4 are all very interested in moving down. I expect a lot of fluctuation. That said, If you move down, you better not only have Mike Williams in your heart or you could get disappointed. One must think that the two impact receivers will be gone after SD picks at 12.
  3. That's good then. I hope for Judy's sake that he wins more than 12 games otherwise Kenny is going to have to make a tough tender decision
  4. I'm definitely taking a wait and see approach, which I feel is justified when a team rids itself of two of its top 5 players. We have SERIOUS health concerns with Hernandez, Thomas, and Dye (although not as much him). If we are able to avoid major injuries I think we have a shot. Still, I will pick the Twins if I had to bet my life. I feel this is a "throw against the wall" type year and we'll get what we need in 06 to make the playoffs for sure in 06. BTW, who is gone after this year? I know Konerko, AJ, Judy, and Shingo are up. Anyone else to resign?
  5. I just watned to give a heads up to Bear/autograph hounds that Braylon Edwards will be appearing at the March Sun-Times show. It's before the draft so you couldn't get him to sign Bear memorabilia, but you could get him on a photo/ball/michigan helmet. Prices not up yet. I just thought I'd give a heads up to Bear fans who also collect.
  6. Yeah Portis was a great second-round pick, but this year's 2nd rounder for the Broncos could be even better. Tatu m Bell led the NFL in Yard per carry and should be just outstanding if he can be healthy enough to play 16 games next year. As fo the Edwards/Williams debate-I would take Braylon. I just worry about a guy not playing ball for a year. He is a superfreak though.
  7. I think for all intents and purposes it was a #1 vs. a #2 game. I say that because both streaks were so impressive that it seemed to be on legit equal footing.
  8. It's not really a big deal, but it was kind of a funny looking picture.
  9. I read your post in the wrong context I guess. I agree with you that Lee is better than Konerko. However, I tend to only really look at home/road when it comes to a guy changing teams or extreme cases like Vinny Castilla or Nomar Garciaparra.
  10. Most people here, whether they choose to admit it, seem to believe they are going to win the division. Those who don't come out and say it are sorta winking on it and trying not to jinx us. I have to believe that the Cubs will win more games than us this year, but its hard to say how it goes for the playoffs. Our division may be easier to win but we cannot win the wild card wheras they very may well.
  11. Since we, you know, play at home half the time I wouldn't think it really matters.
  12. I think Maggs will be fine there. He may only hit 20-25 homers but he could easily lead the league in doubles.
  13. Sexson hurt his shoulder , but it was just a reinjuring. He opted against surgery and just went with rest and rehab and was back in weeks. Then he felt pain on a check-swing and then shut it down and went with surgery. I don't think this qualifies as a Girffey Jr. situation. It's funny how people are braggin about how great are team is after remodeling with the losses of Carlos Lee and Maggs Ordonez but they draw the line for loyalty at Pop up Paulie.
  14. I like how Richie got hurt once and now he's injury prone. As long as something happens once makes you prone, then Paulie is .230 prone.
  15. I'm not sure why you think Paulie is better than Sexson or Glaus. Both need to show health but I think they are much better players than Konerko.
  16. He ain't Delgado, Sexson, or GLaus. That's the type of deal I think he;ll be looking for. I'd say see ya to Paulie and I'd be looking for a more of a versatile player. I'd get rid of him to not have to put up with his slowness or before he reverts to bad Paulie. I do however, anticipate him resigning as he is supposed to be good in the clubhouse and I think KW likes him.
  17. I think they resigned him to a 4 year /30 million dollar deal last year. This I believe was right before Orlando Cabrera turned down a similar deal.
  18. How does ray King suck? He helped his team make the world sereis by becoming one of the premier left-handed set-up men in baseball last eyar as well as driving the clubhouse. Why do you think he's wrong? I don't know. Just because he has an opinion that is contrary to what you are hoping for doesn't mean he's wrong.
  19. It's probably closer than I led on to be, but King's done it in the playoffs and was better this year thatn Marte, although Marte was better 2 years ago. I'd take Ray King over Damaso after seeing him a lot this year. Even so, the point (that I hope you would agree with) is that people saying King isn't a good pitcher are just ripping him becasue he is testing their blind loyalty.
  20. I don't know whetehr or not I'd agree with Ray King because I've never seen Gooch play, but don't insinuate Ray King can't pitch. He's better than Damaso Marte.
  21. I am as big of a Denver Bronco fan as a White Sox fan to be honest. I'd say after John retired I paid more attention to the Sox but now that the White Sox have rid themselves of some of my favorite players-I would say I am a Bronco fan first and foremost.
  22. I don't think Joe crede had much to do with Josh Fields being drafted. I think he was the best available player. I htink it's different in baseball like that. Look at how Matt Bush was drafted with Khalil in front of him.
  23. I think Pods can be effective without getting on base too much. He had 70 steasl with that .313 obp so that tells me that he makes the best of his appearances on first. OBVIOUSLY
  24. I think we can get by with Crede stinking. I think the Frank point was an excellent one and he's my pick as well. My pitching pick is Orlando, although Shingo is also a solid choice.
