  1. Plus, given that the Sox have nobody on the immediate horizon at the catcher position, it's a good idea to have Davis around. If AJ leaves after 1 season or two, having Big Ben could be a nice stop gap. However, if he gets rid of his curly mullet then all bets are off.
  2. I don't know about hte Sabean comment. Don't they win between 90 and 100 games every year? We should be so lucky
  3. JD's only relatively full seasdon was in a walk year. He has very little heart. OPS doesn't mean jack if you are going to sit out with neck injuries incurred by swimming.
  4. no but he can say he was arrested this year
  5. all you missed was Jose Canseco forget Ivan Rodriguez's name and then get called out on describing something that happened once or twice as "often". He did not come of all that well. However, I think the non-sports public might believe a lot of what he says
  6. I'm not sure what sites you are going off of. The majority of experts I have read have Braylon going higher than Williams.
  7. I would hope they go wr, but I have heard/read where Angelo might pick another defensive player. Not that anyone would agree with that or anything
  8. I think guys like Pierre, Pods, and Crawford have utterly meaningless home-road splits. Any ball hit over 9 feet in the air is going to lead to wasted speed.
  9. I think this Mike Williams to the BEars thing is highly unlikely and really just fan site talk. I think I'd say that Braylon is three timse more likely than Mike to be taken. That said, it should surprise no one in CHicago if they trade down or draft more defense.
  10. there's no way this is the worst deal of all-time. There are dozens worse. I would start with Hampton, Neagle, Chan Ho Park, Belle with the Orioles just to name a few. Lastly, one minor thing that was incorrect int he article was saying nobody has seen him run. It's been well-documented that Trammell saw him run. I don't think he did jumping or sliding but he ran.
  11. Well the Guillen deal was probably a good one though. The rest weren't very good. One thing to add abotu Nenn is that the Rockies seemed to have high interest so we may be a better choice by comparison. I'm surprised the Cubs haven't moved in but with Williamson and Fox-they may too many hurt relievers.
  12. I don't think there is any way that Moss would work out well for any team. He has run one players coach out of town and is about to do so to another. He is a punk and a thug. It'ss too bad because he's the best wr talent of all time
  13. The game is littered with guys that won't send messages. The Braves of the 90's and Mike mussina are some more famous examples.
  14. really? I don't think so at all. Do you really think Cliff Politte is tough enough to do that. no way.
  15. We really lack that veteran guy that will put somebody on their back. Remember Matt Morris in the game after Jimmy Edmonds got hit in the ribs by Zambrano? We need to see more of that.
  16. tori vs. aj? I hope there are no survivors in that battle
  17. I just love how people around soxtalk in general are ready to hand out the 05 gm of the year award to Kenny before we have won a game yet. He should be working on July stuff already. That's the nature of the business. This is why I got so pissed when Jerry Angelo said that he ws "tired" of looking in free agency. If that's true, get the hell out.
  18. This is the same team that lost Hawkins and Everyday Eddie and ended p with a BETTER bulpen. This really is the best organization in all of pro sports. Do do I hate them though. I don't think there's any way Jurassic keeps Frank out of the lineup. I don't think the guy in the owners box would let that happen. I think you'd see more like a rotation with Konerko, Rowand, Thomas, Dye, and Jurassic. That's partly why I think Scott plays a smidge more center than people would probably think
  19. They won't trade him in my opinion. Pennat contenders usually don't make this type of move (like us with Maggs last year). I think they hold him as long as they can. When exactly is he free? If it happens to be when Contreras and Duque come off the books, I bet we'd look into it. Unfortunately, JR probably wouldn't go 4 years for Johanamania
  20. I'm not sure why everyone thinks Dustin might start for us. Besides the fac tthat he is not a very good starting pitcher, short of an early injury-he won't be able to start. If he comes out of the pen for a few months, then he will never make it back to more than a 4 or 5 inning starter during the 05 season. I think Diaz is the guy for the 6th spot, unless an injry to Duke is long term, in which case KW will make a move in june/july.
  21. What most people don't acknowledge is that by July, the time or year when El Duque might wear out, Dustin will no longer be an option as his arm will be too used to pitching one inning. I'd keep Diaz around because all hands need to be on deck if we are going to try to make the playoffs. I don't think most people outside of board members feel Brandon McCarthy is ready to be a difference maker in a major league rotation. I think that is in 06 at the soonest.
  22. I would agree but we don't have a 6th starter besides him. Cotts won't be stretched out and we don't have any other ready options, as previously stated
  23. I hope you guys that want Maggs to get injured lose your fingers in a fiery smores accident.
