GAME THREAD 7-15-05 SOX vs TRIBE
minorsfan replied to NUKE_CLEVELAND's topic in 2005 Season in Review
QUOTE(JimH @ Jul 15, 2005 -> 06:51 PM) Ozzie has been saying they need a bat. I am a huge advocate of getting a pesky hitter in here with speed, who can fill in defensively. Paging Ryan Freel, Cincinnati Reds. Seriously, they should overpay for him. Give the Reds two pitching prospects and get it done. I am listening to the Barons game online. Is it the same Ryan Freel playing for the Chattanoogna Lookouts (AA Reds) tonight? A rehab assignment?? I think they said he would be there for 5 games. -
QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 09:21 PM) Barons now down 14-13....Knights still tied in the 12th. No pitching on either side tonight.. LOL 19-14 top of 8th, Barons on top. What is the longest game of the year???

QUOTE(BHAMBARONS @ Jul 6, 2005 -> 09:48 PM) Very short two of the guys are really hit or miss Pollok is usually good tonight he was beat by a very talented hitter which should not be in this level. I hope the Sox's would have handled this situation but they haven't a 20 man roster won't get it done. That is what I thought. Thanks for the insight and lets hope the starters keep up the good outings. 6 starters and 3 available relievers just doesn't cut it-- they need some help and soon!!

QUOTE(JimH @ Jul 6, 2005 -> 09:13 PM) Looks like Birmingham had a bullpen collapse tonite, they could not hold the lead. C Donny Lucy was 2-4 for Kannapolis, he's up to .283 . Looks like you are right.. I think they may have some troubles if they have more games that they need to rely on the relievers. With Meaux out and Jenks to Chicago... so far it seems they haven't received anyone to help fill the gaps (Tom???). Only Reynoso (who gave up 2HRs, 3 ER in 8th with a 2 run lead), Pollok (walk off 2 run HR with a 1 run lead) and Lamura in the pen. A little short, no????

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jul 4, 2005 -> 11:15 PM) I just hope that when Ozzie made a "J" sound it was Baj instead of Jenks. I mean, really now, Bajenaru isn't the easiest name in the world. I still have no confirmation on this from any sources, but I guess Ozzie is. Well I know I don't post too often but believe me when I did post this I did so after confirmation from a very reliable "source". I don't like rumors especially on the net so I made sure this was 100% true before choosing to bring it to this board. It is certainly your right to be suspicious since I am not a regular poster. I am telling you I only post "confirmed" info. But if you don't believe Ozzie well I guess all I can tell you is wait til you see him in uniform. BTW... There is a press release on the Official White Sox website.

Great news for Bobby. Looks like he will miss the Futures Game. I hope he helps the bullpen.

QUOTE(fathom @ May 30, 2005 -> 03:34 PM) How old is Fields now? It's not like we're talking about a high school player advancing through the system. The problem is that QBs haven't had success making the adjustment over time. By young I wasn't really talking age although I think he is only 22 yrs old. He was drafted in the 1st round of the June 2004 draft out of OSU. He started in high A Winston-Salem and hit .285 in 66 games. In 2005 he began in AA Birmingham, so he is really only beginning he second year in pro ball. That is what I meant by "young". I am sure it is a big adjustment not only from football to baseball , but to wood bats. C

QUOTE(fathom @ May 30, 2005 -> 03:20 PM) Problem is, from all the reports I've heard from non-Sox observers.....Fields has looked awful in the minors. I think you could say he is struggling at the plate... batting .213, but he is very young and not at all ready to advance. On a positive note he is pretty good in the field (no pun intended) C

QUOTE(BHAMBARONS @ May 28, 2005 -> 11:58 PM) on a failed Suicide Squeeze bunt missed runner dead at the plate Sounded like Jenks had a real tough time. On the play at the plate to end the game West Tenn radio said it was a wild pitch by Meaux that came back to Stewart with some luck and nailed the runner. So did we get lucky for once? C

QUOTE(JimH @ May 24, 2005 -> 07:53 PM) Was Rogo's 3-3 a solid one, i.e. is he hitting the ball hard? I saw he walked as well. .331 is impressive. I don't think Rogo walked.. he was next up in 9th but no AB. C
-
Barons win 1-0 Rogo goes 3-3 with single, double and game winning homer. C
-
Barons up 1-0 going into the 8th inning. Rogowski hit a solo homer in the 7th. C

QUOTE(BHAMBARONS @ May 23, 2005 -> 07:37 PM) TN Broadcaster made comment that either it was a change up or Honel's Fastball has really fallen off 80 MPH all he hit LOL We both noticed that one, HUH. Just started listening.. How are we doing tonight with runners in scoring position, if there have been any?????? C
-
Even Smokies radio guy just said on that last pitch "looks like Honel fast ball has really fallen off" C
-
Looks as if the Barons struggling at the plate with runners in scoring position is going to carry over from last night... Bases loaded with no outs and score only once, with a bases juiced walk. Fields stuck out swinging Blakley struck out looking Aceves pops out to SS West Tenn 0 Barons 1 Only good news Diamondjaxx pitcher Hill threw 39 pitches in first inning. C
-
QUOTE(MnSoxFan @ May 21, 2005 -> 09:43 PM) Dude, you are disagreeing with the wrong guy. My guess is Rex knows all those rules and every nook and cranny of that park. First off I am no "Dude"... And I wasn't disagreeing with anyone. I was just offering my insight from personal experience of over ten years in the sports ticket business as to why the announced attendance may be different than the actual attendance. C
-
Blakley hit a double and moved over to third on Stewart bunt. And with 1 out in the bottom of the 9th with the score tied and a chance to win he gets picked off third. UGH!!!! Was it a great move by the pitch or baseruning error ??? Its hard to tell by listening to the West Tenn radio guy.... he was screaming YEAH ( a little biased of course). Extras C

QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ May 21, 2005 -> 08:04 PM) I know what the press release says...... I was also there. Alot of times the home team counts season tickets in the attendance, even if they do not actually show up since they are paid for in advance. C
