  3. The Russians are on to Kenny http://newsfromrussia.com/news/sports/20-0...Bartolo_Colon-0 Bartolo Colon, a Major League Baseball pitcher, may come back to the White Sox. Bartolo Colon is still in question for Chicago White S Rolls-Royce Phantom Coupe More... This information became available thanks to Dominican site Impactodeportivo.com.do, where it was stated that the pitcher would soon sign a contract with the Major League baseball team. The only handicap for now is a physical examination Colon is due to pass. The managing staff does not give any definite comment upon the situation, not excluding the possibility of signing a new contract with the player, but making it clear that they have other candidates – John Danks and Gavin Floyd as starting pitchers. Just before the 2003 season, Colon was traded to the Chicago White Sox as part of a three-team deal, including the New York Yankees. He finished 2003 with a 15-13 record. He won the American League Cy Young Award with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim in 2005. Photo: homerderby.com Read sensational news stories
  4. kenny on the score pisst off at blogs, emails, and internet crap lmao
  5. from cowley White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen confirmed Wednesday morning that the report from Impactodeportivo.com indicating the club had reached an agreement on pitcher Bartolo Colon is in fact false. Guillen said that the organization hadn’t even spoken to Colon’s representatives in “weeks,’’ but a team representative said there was more recent dialogue without a deal taking place.
  6. From cowely, here we go with bashing of site lol Colon to the Sox? TUCSON, Ariz. - According to Impactodeportivo.com, the White Sox have reportedly reached an agreement with pitcher Bartolo Colon on a one-year deal pending the right-hander passing a physical. One problem, the Sox weren’t indicating any such deal is in place as of late Tuesday night. Does it make sense? Slightly, especially with starters John Danks and Gavin Floyd still unproven over an entire season. Undoubtedly, more to come on this Wednesday.
  7. on mlb.com TUCSON, Ariz. -- The White Sox might have finally tracked down Bartolo Colon. According to a report from Impacto Deportivo, the White Sox have reached a preliminary agreement with the burly right-hander on a one-year deal, pending a physical. No comment came from the team as of late Tuesday night, although there has been previous expressed interest on the White Sox part. At SoxFest, which took place during the last weekend of January at the Palmer House Hilton in Chicago, general manager Ken Williams explained how manager Ozzie Guillen traveled to the Dominican Republic to watch Colon pitch and came away impressed enough for the White Sox to make "an incentive-based offer with a low base salary." That deal would increase if Colon pitched to his vast capabilities. Colon's recruitment took a strange twist, at that point. "We couldn't find him. His agent couldn't find him," said Williams of Colon, who posted a 15-13 record and a career-high nine complete games during his lone season with the White Sox in 2003. "The offer was designed to get him into the mix and create some competition -- not saying he would get the job. He didn't seem very interested in such a deal." Apparently, the lack of multiyear interest in Colon around baseball might have changed his mind. Colon last pitched a full season in 2005, when he won the American League Cy Young Award with a 21-8 record and a 3.48 ERA. The White Sox drive to the World Series title in 2005 actually was helped by Colon, who was unavailable to pitch for the Angels in the American League Championship Series due to injury. Over the past two years, Colon has posted a 7-13 record in 28 starts with a 5.90 ERA. He is battling back from shoulder problems and turns 35 on May 24. He made two starts in the Dominican Winter League. This deal figures to be of the Minor League variety, with the White Sox 40-man roster currently sitting at 40. The team has been impressed with the way Gavin Floyd has been throwing the ball so far during Spring Training, and John Danks also has earned praise, although neither young talent has been proven over a full season. Both Floyd and reliever/potential fifth starter Nick Masset are out of options. Scott Merkin is a reporter for MLB.com. This story was not subject to the approval of Major League Baseball or its clubs.
  8. With Floyd situation, w sox are tough situation as it is. You either sign him to 2-3 yr deal or make him pitch out in rotation. Floyd showed promise as did danks. If Floyd really gets light up what are w sox suppost to do?? We already annointed if colon dosent sign the 4th and 5th starter spot. Masset is in the same boat. You know massett isnt going to be given chance at starting and bullpen seems to me be ovefilled. Another guy is Brian Anderson. He seems be done and wanting out as well. Then theirs Uribe and Crede. Im telling ya Kenny willams got busy month in half.
  9. im just looking at signings odalis perez, Benson are all signing. Wondering if thats what its coming to.
  10. I know everyone expecting be a 2 yr. deal but could it be everyone passed and Colon took contract w sox gave?
  11. If true I really duno what the w sox are really doing. This spring training has alot players at attention... Brian Anderson seems to me going be gone, Masset is out of options, Floyd is out of options but they like him alot. Does Danks have options go back down?
  12. from Impactodeportivo.com. The leader Ozzie Guillen went to Santiago de los Caballeros to see Bartolo Colon. Later than ever, now will be the fruits. . According knew this Tuesday Impactodeportivo.com.do, Columbus has reached a preliminary agreement with the White Sox. At the moment is in the process of physical examination. The last tempoarada took 6-8 mark and 6.34 effectiveness, and now seems to be aimed at Chicago. Espere más detalles. Wait for more details.
  13. TUCSON, Ariz. – It didn’t take long for the camp’s first controversy to show itself. General manager Ken Williams stated on several occasions late last year and over the winter that the White Sox had reached out to Joe Crede and his agent Scott Boras about signing a contract extension to stay on the South Side. The idea behind it for the club was a show of faith that Crede’s back would bounce back from season-ending surgery last year, as well as giving the free agent-to-be some security in what was a cloudy time for him. Well, now there seems to be two versions of the story, with Crede arriving into camp on Saturday – given clearance by Major League Baseball to arrive early because of his comeback from the injury. According to Crede, who has signed a series of one-year deals to avoid arbitration each offseason, no multi-year deal was ever on the table. “I was never offered any amount of money of an extended number of years from the White Sox, Kenny, no one,’’ Crede told the Sun-Times. “You can’t sign a long-term deal if it’s not there. That’s the business side of baseball.’’ The business side of baseball is also one in which trade rumors take on a new life each and every day. Crede is no stranger to that, especially with good friend – and former Sox outfielder – Aaron Rowand now playing in San Francisco, and the Giants needing a third baseman with some pop. While Crede did admit to speaking to Rowand within the last few days, he maintained that it wasn’t a recruiting conversation in which the outfielder was playing GM. “I’ve never really talked to him about [coming there in a trade],’’ Crede said. “It’s more about him and what he does in the winter … trying not to get hurt. “Yeah, the rumor is there, but I’m taking the approach of being here and playing the full year in Chicago. I think I’m playing here this year.’’ That remains to be seen.
  14. interesting.. Sabean said that some trade talks have been "ongoing" but would be tabled until later in Spring Training to allow the Giants time for further evaluations. That would seem to fuel the rampant rumors that have linked the Giants to the Chicago White Sox, who are dangling third baseman Joe Crede. Having undergone lower back surgery last year, Crede will require the sort of evaluation Sabean mentioned as he performs in exhibition games. But Sabean pointed out that those evaluations include internal ones. "The bigger dilemma is always who you're going to give up," he said.
  15. I agree their isnt much would intrest alot. But, I think it be better go this route than trying for Colon, Garcia, Benson, Martoth etc.
  16. seeing that w sox have alot people locked up with money. The pitching market this year not so hott. I looked into free agents for 2009 pitching and wondering if kenny is waiting for that class than this. A.J. Burnett (32) - can opt out after '08 season Paul Byrd (38) Ryan Dempster (32) Jon Garland (29) Tom Glavine (43) Orlando Hernandez (43) Randy Johnson (45) John Lackey (30) - $9MM club option for '09 with a $0.5MM buyout Esteban Loaiza (37) - $7.5MM club option for '09 with a $0.375MM buyout Braden Looper (34) Derek Lowe (36) Greg Maddux (43) Pedro Martinez (37) Matt Morris (34) - $9MM club option for '09 with a $1MM buyout Jamie Moyer (46) Mark Mulder (31) - $11MM club option for '09 with a $1.5MM buyout Mike Mussina (40) Brad Penny (31) - $8.75MM club option for '09 with a $2MM buyout Oliver Perez (27) Andy Pettitte (37) Kenny Rogers (44) C.C. 17. hey, at least cowley covers his ass says speculates unlike saying hunter is signed, and all other times he jumped the gunn
  18. from pirates board... http://www.theinsideronpittsburghsports.com/ There is some talk that the Pirates could be on the verge of acquiring White Sox outfielder Brian Anderson. Anderson was the 27th rated prospect in 2003 but has been a disappointment since making his MLB debut in 2005 and has fallen out of favor with White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen. The buzz on Anderson are some scouts believe he's a bust while others believe he just needs a change of scenery. The Marlins, Reds, and Braves have also been linked to Anderson.
  19. from cowley Second base will be the biggest spring battle, with Danny Richar, Juan Uribe, Alexei Ramirez and Pablo Ozuna each getting a look. Jerry Owens and Carlos Quentin could be headed for a platoon situation in the outfield, while Brian Anderson is headed for a National League team in a trade. anyone tell me why cowely is always jumping the gun with w sox rumors and thing?
  20. General manager Ken Williams admitted during Sunday's final SoxFest Town Hall Meeting at the Palmer House Hilton that he sent manager Ozzie Guillen to the Dominican Republic recently in order to watch Colon on the mound. Guillen came away impressed enough for the team to make Colon "an incentive-based offer, with a low-base salary," according to Williams, which could increase if Colon got healthy and pitched close to his vast capabilities. The intrigue began, though, after the offer was made. "We couldn't find him. His agent couldn't find him," said Williams of Colon, 34, who posted a 15-13 record and a career-high nine complete games during his lone season with the White Sox in 2003. "The offer was designed to get him into the mix and create some competition -- not saying he would get the job. He didn't seem very interested in such a deal."
  21. I also like point out Aj wasnt hurt like colon has been since 2005
  22. kenny might not be saying they were but from comments butfrom the comments from jenks it sounds like they exchanged numbers
  23. Sox in Brief: Extension for Jenks in works January 26, 2008 BY JOE COWLEY [email protected] White Sox general manager Ken Williams is among the first to admit mistakes were made last offseason -- namely that he discounted the effect that pending free agency would have on players such as Jermaine Dye and Mark Buehrle. Williams is already trying to avoid a repeat of that situation. The Sun-Times learned Friday that the Sox and closer Bobby Jenks began preliminary talks last month on a contract extension for the right-hander. While Jenks didn't want to offer details on who initiated those talks, he did confirm that ''during the winter meetings, there were some feelers thrown back and forth, so we'll see.'' Jenks is still years away from free agency, but considering his resume already, locking up the 26-year-old wouldn't be a bad idea. In saving 40 games last year, he became the first pitcher in Sox history with at least 40 saves in back-to-back seasons. ''To be honest, I'm not real worried about it,'' Jenks said of his contract status. ''I go out there and do my job. If they do it, great. If I have to still go out and continue to prove myself, I'll do that too.'' Williams said the Sox also plan to start talks with free agent-to-be Orlando Cabrera in spring training to make sure the shortstop is not a one-and-done situation. ''There's desire on his part to talk,'' Williams said. ''That's something I want to get on once we get to spring training. That's something I want to get done.''
