  1. QUOTE (Joxer_Daly @ Oct 29, 2012 -> 02:50 PM) Jaysus, no! We're talking total beginner here. Just using the kit first time out, obviously not expecting any great results from that but just want to get used to the process. Once I get the first batch out of the way, I'd like to dabble in the realms of creativity a bit more. I fancy messing around with I.P.A.s as my first specialty. This place will be a great resource for you at any level of homebrewing: http://www.homebrewtalk.com/
  2. QUOTE (Joxer_Daly @ Oct 29, 2012 -> 01:29 PM) Any Soxtalk homebrewers out there? I've got the stuff together to do my first ever batch of homebrew. Just need to make the time to get it done. I homebrew. Are you doing all grain?
  3. Looking forward to trying this.
  4. QUOTE (Jake @ Oct 27, 2012 -> 12:03 AM) Interesting article for those interesting in the business of beer. This kind of thing generally motivates me to stay away from AB InBev -- remember that now it isn't as obvious as a "Budweiser" label. The Plot to Destroy America's Beer There's an interesting documentary called Beer Wars that explains a lot about the beer industry. You can watch it instantly on netflix.
  5. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 26, 2012 -> 06:26 PM) $6.5m Ok, then a 100% increase.
  6. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Oct 26, 2012 -> 10:47 AM) Arbitration is based upon their previous years salaries. If AJ were offered and accepted arbitration and was given $13 million, that would be a more than 200% increase in his salary. Really? How much did AJ make this year?
  7. Sam Adams' Hazel Brown is pretty damn good. Its a brown ale flavored with hazelnuts. Unfortunately, you can only get it in the fall sampler, and there's only 2 in the 12 pack.
  8. The Cardinals won something like 11 of their last 15 in the regular season. They were clearly teams headed in different directions.
  9. I've been trying as many Oktoberfests as I can. So far, Schlafly is my favorite this year. I have also found out that I don't mind an occasional pumpkin beer, oddly enough, I cannot stand the Schlafly Pumpkin.
  10. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Oct 8, 2012 -> 06:32 PM) I don't care about over .500 by two or three games. I care about the playoffs. Then Ozzie was one of the greatest mangers in team history.
  11. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Oct 5, 2012 -> 07:39 PM) GO ORIOLES! Also, I didn't see the play in Cards-Braves. I know it's under protest, so is it bad enough to make them replay? Pretty sure its a judgement called which cannot be protested.
  12. I had a similar call called on me in softball 2 weeks ago and the infielder was nowhere near the ball. The umpire said that it was a routine play for an average second baseperson.
  13. QUOTE (zenryan @ Oct 5, 2012 -> 07:20 PM) well if a pop up is halfway between home and 1st, infield fly would be called right away because the is an ordinary play. a ball 30ft into the OF is never just an ordinary baseball play. I agree, but I believe Krush is saying that the infielder getting out there is what made the call correct. Which to me seems wrong.
  14. This is from MLB's site: This probably isn't the entire rule, but the bolded "could" suggests that it shouldn't matter if the infielder is making a play.
  15. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Oct 5, 2012 -> 07:14 PM) The call cant just be made sooner. Its made when the requirements are met I.e. infielder there. The call can happen whenever. So if the infielder doesn't make an effort the call won't be made? That doesn't seem right.
  16. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Oct 5, 2012 -> 07:05 PM) Nothing will come from this protest. Do believe that the call should have been made sooner?
  17. Will we be able to watch these games on mlb.tv?
  18. Tying run at bat for Twins, Mauer on deck, Morneau in the hole.
  19. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 29, 2012 -> 04:15 PM) What he do? Pulled Sale
  20. QUOTE (JohnCangelosi @ Sep 29, 2012 -> 03:58 PM) I like the way that the assume the last series the Rays have against Baltimore will be meaningful. Not if we win these last few games, but they just assume we won't. Can't blame them I guess but it's a bit insulting. If the Sox win these two games that series could still have meaning.
