  1. My line as well. Almost didn't make it into work today at 12:30, but someone at work was kind enough to scoop me up. I heard there are going to be massive delays and they were advising people to take the Rock Island off of LaSalle and a shuttle would take them to the 143rd and 153rd stops in Orland, etc.
  2. If you looked at several of their colleges a couple years back at least, they rank in the top 25. Is it a world class university? I think those only belong to Ivy League schools and/or schools recognized as the best in the world for a certain field of study. For example, if UIC was #1 ranked in the world for their School of Business, then yes, they are a world class university or at least in the discussion. UIC though is very underrated partly because the students there hate it for whatever reason.
  3. QUOTE (knightni @ Oct 22, 2009 -> 05:17 PM) Trading Urlacher is tantamount to trading Frank Thomas and Ryne Sandberg when they were on the downsides of their careers. Sure, it's possible, but it would be PR suicide. Eh, alot of Bears fans I talk to, a ton of girls at that, all think Urlacher needs to go. A lot of girls that have met him do not like his "I'm better than you" personality. From all accounts, the man is a dk and alot of Bears fans that I'm surrounded by have realized that. And these aren't super duper diehard fans either.
  4. Would about letting go of T Harris and trading Urlacher to solve other needs and moving Gaines inside? This is from an outsider's perspective.
  5. They should've waited for Orton to be a free agent so they can sign a true franchise QB.
  6. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Oct 19, 2009 -> 08:04 PM) Simply put, Joe Girardi is a bad manager. Anybody who followed the 2006 Florida Marlins to even a modest degree knows that him winning the 2006 NL Manager of the Year is one of the biggest jokes in the history of baseball awards (he absolutely destroyed several arms on that pitching staff, killing the Marlins decent playoff chances). I still think the Yankees are a strong favorite to win the World Series simply becuase any idiot could manage a team that good to glory, but he's not good as his job and it bit them in the rear end tonight. I didn't watch the Marlins all that much when he managed them. I know they had really good starting pitching, especially with Josh Johnson, but I really can't speak on what he did with that team. What I do know is that his years with the Yankees have showed he really isn't all that great of a manager. Like he's much worse than Francona who people seem to think he's so great because he took a fully loaded team to two world series. He's a pretty average manager, but Girardi seems even worse.
  7. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Oct 13, 2009 -> 01:07 PM) Their top 100 of all time? MC Hammer's You "You Can't Touch This" is on there but "Ice, Ice, Baby" isn't? That was a huge hit even though it's terrible. Fight the Power is the #1 hip hop hit of all time? I'd replace Pop Goes the Weasel with The Gas Face. Gold Digger instead of Jesus Walks? Golddigger was a bigger hit. If they are doing it based on sales, Jesus Walks probably wasn't that popular. I'm surprised I didn't see California Love on there with Pac and Dre. I would've put In the Club higher up. How We Do would've made the list by Game. The Block is Hot, which is one of my favorite Wayne hits probably doesn't deserve to be on there. Rapper's Delight should be #1 though. There's not one person I know who doesn't know at least the beginning of the song. Not many people can recite that Public Enemy song, though it is a nice song in it's own right. And I don't remember seeing C.R.E.A.M. on the list by Wu Tang.
  8. Campbell is playing like he somewhat deserves his contract. The Bhawks are screwed when it comes to the cap though for next year. Huet, is what I sadly expected, and that's trash.
  9. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Oct 13, 2009 -> 06:45 PM) The one problem I have with a TO move is it's a move you make if you think you can win the Super Bowl right now, and I don't think that can be said about the Bears, even if TO is on the roster. Eh, it's debatable. Look at Arizona last year. They got hot at the right time and blasted their way to the Super Bowl which they almost won. A TO type move in which the West Coast offense which he is most familiar with, can really benefit Jay even greater.
  10. TO was not the reason why the Eagles lost. He put on one of the greatest performances in Super Bowl history for a wideout, especially in his condition. He'd help the Bears tremendously. Does he drop some balls? Yes, but at the same time, his positives on the field definitely outweight the negatives on the field. He would do the Bears wonders.
  11. Apparently, according to the Tribune, Podsednik is in negotiations with the Sox.
  12. The Rams and Bucaneers were the best ones by far.
  13. Hopefully Piper does get better. To me, HBK only works as a heel. He hasn't been that, nor will he ever go back to that. I'd only put the title on him for a change of recycling it between the three same guys, but that probably won't happen. They really screwed up with Punk though. They almost built another Edge at his peak, but kept knocking down Punk each time.
  14. I'm pulling for the Twins, but since everyone seems to think they'll win, I'll pick the Tigers.
  15. Personally, the Saints to me have shown they are the best team so far. With that said, there isn't a dominating team that has shown up yet. Saints to me show they have it all including a dynamic offense and a vastly improved defense. BTW, as far as defensive coordinators, Monte Kiffin is still the tops. Jimmy Johnson would be up there. LaBeau is great and the job Greg Williams has done thus far deserves an applause because they were atrocious.
  16. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 5, 2009 -> 08:21 PM) I'm more nervous than excited about the Bulls right now. Without Gordon...there's a real legit chance that this team could start off slowly, hit the circus trip, tune out Skiles VDN completely, and just be an abject disaster this year. Agreed. Alot is going to depend on Salmons and Rose. Salmons is our most important offensive player because even with Deng was good, he wasn't an explosive scorer. Salmons can be that. Good thing is he can score in multiple ways.
  17. As santo=dorf put it, his career OPS+ is only 101. Really, he's had 2-3 years of great success, but even then, his career numbers are worse than Swisher's. To see alot more of Rios' in depth stats, I suggest people read that Javy and Swisher thread. Anyways, Rios did look like a competent hitter finally for the last two weeks of the season. We'll see what happens.
  18. Taker IMO is worse than Triple H. When was the last time Taker cleanly put someone over? Now this little snitching stunt with Punk only because Punk asked why Cena doesn't have to dress up. He's a baby. Add in that whole "divas need to work with my girlfriend since she's the only one who knows how to wrestle" schtick, he's gotten pretty annoying.
  19. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 3, 2009 -> 03:38 PM) lol. You really believe that you were going to get hit with taxes for the Olympics that you aren't going to get hit with now? How is that exactly? What local governmental things are going to not be enacted and taxes added, that were going to get done before, specifically? I didn't think the green was necessary, but I was being sarcastic. But it seems like that's the argument for not wanting the Olympics.
  20. I'm guessing it is probably Wells. The clubhouse was the reason why the last manager went. JP tried his darnest, and I think Cito was a great manager to hire. They need to clean house there, but I think Cito should get another shot. I mean, how many managers does it take for you to realize that it's the players, and not the manager?
  21. Can't trade AJ. He's one of the leaders. The reason why he needs to stay most is that he isn't afraid to say what needs to be said. With Dye, Thome, and PK, I have doubts they really even say much in the clubhouse. They're all quiet, lead by example, type leaders. None of them were fiery guys though. None of them striked me as, I don't want to only beat you, I want to embarass you type players. Teams need those type of leaders as well. While AJ may agitate alot of people, he is very much needed in this clubhouse. I'd hate to have another clubhouse where no one seems to care, except for Ozzie.
  22. Yeah, Huet does blow. I still don't see what Tallon or whomever asked for him, ever saw in him. At his very best, he's a middle of the pack goalie.
  23. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 3, 2009 -> 09:36 AM) And the vast majority of this debt is going to happen anyway, because if you don't you are going to have a rust pile of a transit system, and dirt roads for interstates. It would have been nicer for everything to be under the eyes of the world, so it would have had to be done the right way. Instead it is all going to happen anyway, and it will still all be done in a backroom somewhere. As for the olympic debt, it has been pretty well proven that there wasn't going to be some huge debt left over. The Olympics in the US don't lose money. That's crazy talk. Now that we didn't get the Olympics, we won't have increased taxes, our infrastructure will still be improved such as roads and public transit, more affordable housing will still be built and now our education system will improve as well as our crime rate because our city won't have to be under the watchful eye of the world! Btw, I live in Chicago.
  24. Well some are saying because of bad sales, but I've heard that's just the fluff being thrown out there. Apparently there was creative differences and Gaga thought she would be better off playing on her own in smaller venues.
  25. QUOTE (ChWRoCk2 @ Oct 2, 2009 -> 01:12 PM) But the world is ending in 2012 anyways.. LOL, I was about to post that.
