Pedroia wants to move to SS. Red Sox might ask him as they think it'll be easier to get a 2b. Translation to me is that they'll either trade for Brandon Phillips or sign Orlando Hudson. http://www.realgmbaseball.com/src_wiretap_...a_to_shortstop/

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 30, 2009 -> 07:36 PM) So is part of VDN's offense built around having D Rose jog through the lane and stand in the corner? Because thats what I see a majority of the time. It's not. I've actually commented on it before. But Derrick has been the master of that play since high school. In fact, he created it. -

Urlacher officially not a fan of Cutler and Bears offense. http://blogs.suntimes.com/bears/2009/11/ur...way_our_id.html I think Brian needs to shut his trap. The reason why the Bears have only one Super Bowl is because of the old identity. Well eventually, you meet a team that you won't run down or wear down enough and actual talent and coaching takes over. Bears haven't had that in awhile. Bears need Mike Martz on offense, and just overall, better players. -

QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Nov 29, 2009 -> 03:30 AM) I think they need to go the other way. Everyone gets the same odds, no tanking, no good players wasted on s*** teams. Was San Antonio getting Duncan a bad thing? Are bad teams like the Clippers, Grizzlys, nets, etc better off getting high picks and then toiling at SA getting Duncan was a very bad thing actually. The NBA had some of its worst ratings with SA in the Finals. Even that thriller against Detroit had awful ratings. If he would've ended up in a major market like he was supposed to, the NBA would've made a lot more money and had a lot better ratings. -

Benn might end up staying in college from what I'm hearing in hopes of having a QB and an OC who want to get him the ball instead of run the ball on every down. Their offensive coordinator wasted the talent on offense by wanting to run the ball more. He was better off going 5 wide because the Illini had stud WR's/TE's. Honestly, they could've started the game with a RB in the backfield, have Fayson, Benn, Cumberland and Ford out wide. Instead, like Fiedorowicz stated, they chose not to utilize even half of their talent. Michael Oher's story was a great one. I loved the movie. It's hard not to feel sorry for him. I'm glad a family out there supported him when his only family wouldn't. I wonder what happened to his brothers and stuff like that. -

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Nov 27, 2009 -> 06:21 PM) You do bring up an excellent point about how he had crap in Detroit and San Fran at the QB position. But my next question is how good is Martz at developing the talent, etc. Or is he just a good, agressive play-caller that sometimes goes a bit rogue/crazy. I don't see him as a developer. I believe he is the type of guy who needs to have a guy with the right skills to make his system work, and if he does have the right guy, that player will look like a superstar. -
Gaga definitely looks better with brunette hair. She dyed it though when a reporter mistook her for Amy Winehouse. Regardless, she's a very talented musician. She sucks you in with the weirdness and dance/pop songs, but she's great musically. She's pretty sound at a couple of instruments and is excellent at the piano. Her voice, when she uses it is awesome. Her live shows display her talent quite nicely.

I'm not going to say Warner had a rocket of an arm, but he had a nice arm. Bulger had a decent arm, but injuries as well as IQ has gotten to him. -

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Nov 27, 2009 -> 11:59 AM) Martz is not the answer. Cutler isn't a Martz QB and the Bears need to be careful. Whomever they bring in should be an offensive mind that can work the X's and O'x and help Cutler get better. If the Bears wanted to be ballsy, I'd go after Jim Harbaugh the Standford caoch. But again, college coachs rarely pan out. And if I went with Harbaugh, I'd want the club to hire veteran assistants which would be expensive. So it wouldn't happen, although I believe Jim would be a very good coach for Cutler. Hiring Martz for a yr isn't an option. We don't want him as our head coach, he's failed everywhere else he's been as a head coach and as an OC he hasn't had the same magic he had in St. Louis. Bad decision. We bring in Martz and Cutler will be on his 4th coordinator in 4 years (Shanny's system last year, Turner's this year, Martz next year, and our new coaches the following year). How is Martz not a fit for Cutler? Cutler is a gunner. Martz's offense is all about gunning and taking shots down the field. I'd say it make a lot of sense. And who says it'll only be for a year? I'd also hardly count Turner's offense. There's only about 6 plays in there since most of our players are not smart enuogh to learn anything more complex. -

Who becomes our long term SS then? If we still had Getz, then I guess you could say move Bacon to SS and hope he improves, but you end up opening a very big hole which would be super expensive. Sox actually have an advantage to have such a cheap, good option at short. -

QUOTE (kev211 @ Nov 25, 2009 -> 08:19 PM) And you don't think ND could up the bar once again? I'm not saying it's going to happen but it's a fact that ND would win the money battle. Nope, not when having to pay Charlie 18 more million. Florida has more than enough money to keep Urban happy and then some. They're not a Cincinnatti. -
QUOTE (chw42 @ Nov 26, 2009 -> 11:46 AM) Bonds hasn't played baseball in a year... It might take him a while to get back in the swing of things. Plus, he's 45. If he doesn't perform well to start the year (which I guess he wouldn't), the fans will start to b**** and the media will go crazy. Plus, this puts a lot of national attention (pressure) on the White Sox. Not sure if you really want that. As good as this looks on paper, there are numerous other problems with it that will screw it up. It puts alot of attention on the White Sox. That's a good thing. Honestly though, it won't happen in the end.

QUOTE (MurcieOne @ Nov 25, 2009 -> 12:10 PM) Dunno if anyone mentioned the rumors swirling around the coaching staff. A) Mike Martz coming in after the end of the season to be OC. (more likely of the two). B) The Brass at Halas Hall looking into Shannahan, Gruden, Cowher (which the Bears deny). Personally, I think it's a horrible idea to try and force 1 year of Mike Martz in here in hopes that he can help save Lovie's job. It just seems like an accident waiting to happen and another wasted year of Cutler's career. I wish the Bears would just bite the Bullet and bring in one of the aforementioned coaches to right this ship. Fire Angelo and Lovie and bring in some true talent evaluators to rebuild the franchise. It would be expensive -- paying off Lovie and Angelo -- but if you hire Shannahan or Gruden you get them for the pro-rated version of whatever was left on their previous contracts. You would have to assume that Shannahan would like to be reunited with his pupil... right? QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 25, 2009 -> 12:18 PM) Love him or hate him, Martz has had some QBs under his tutelage that have put up some pretty big numbers. I dont know that it would be a wasted year in Cutlers career. But I agree, it is just a stopgap I read the rumors in the SunTimes today. I think Martz would be a good idea. Cutler is a guy who easily can throw the deep ball even in terrible conditions. Martz is an offensive guru who would have decent parts to work with. I think he would easily be a good hire since he also could help improve Forte. I don't see Angelo getting fired, and I see the Bears giving Lovie one more year. It would be just wayyyyyyyyyyyyyy too expensive to fire the administration, even if you're a non-Bears fan who is not used to the cheap nature of the Bears front office. And guys like Cowher, Holmgren, Shannahan, Gruden will be available next year. Maybe not all of them, but probably at least 3 of them. Cowher for sure is not going to settle for a job unless it's with a storied franchise(btw, I think he's overrated). Gruden will demand some cash and control. Holmgren and Shannahan are the only guys I would actually give it to. Shannahan and Cowher are the only guys I see being hired at this point in time. Shan with the Bills and Cowher with Dallas or the Texans. -

BTW, welcome to the board. -
Well they're in the first stage of negotiations according to ESPN. Now with that said, I wouldn't even care if they split the purse 50-50 and raised the PPV to $60 or $70. I would still buy that fight. As far as Cotto vs Pac, a couple of things happened. Cotto was doing really good and standing toe to toe with Pac, but Pac hit him hard, and Cotto got conservative. It was a combo of it being fast and it coming from an unexpected angle. Then Cotto just tried to jab and move when really, he should've tried to jam him the whole fight. Then like in the 5th or 6th round, he got tired out and exposed himself. He basically was running the rest of the night minus a round afterwards. Cotto needed to be ready to go 15 rounds, not 5. Pac also hasn't been hit hard like that before either. With that said, I don't know who would win a fight between Floyd and Pac. Pac has the advantage that he can hit from any angle, he's fast enough to keep up with Mayweather, and his endurance is elite. Floyd has elite quickness, elite endurance, but also has one of the highest IQ's in boxing. It'll be hard for Pac to get a good flow of sound punches on Mayweather to hurt him. With that said, Mayweather is going to have the same problem. Mayweather really doesn't fight to beat you up though, he fights to win the fight. The key though would be if Pac can adjust his fighting. If he is okay with fighting Mayweather's style and doesn't get frustrated(which he is capable of), then he'll stand a good chance. Pac can't take off rounds though because PBF will rack up those rounds really quick.

QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Nov 23, 2009 -> 08:27 PM) Yeah, and if you put Trent Dilfer on a dominant team, he wins a Super Bowl. Last year, the Broncos had a pretty dominant team aside from the defense, and he went 8-8. Last year, the Bears had an average offense with a bad defense (not as bad as Denver's, but still bad) and they won 9 games. Obviously, if you get on a team that's already dominant, he's going to win. But guys like Peyton Manning are doing it with an above average defense, 1 great WR and 2 young WR's. That's hardly dominant. Am I saying I expect Jay to be a Manning like QB? No. But if he's a franchise QB, he has to be able to carry the team at some points too. I stated many reasons as to why, and that was one of them, not the only one. No offense, but that should never be a reason. I respect if you think he sucks or is overrated as I'm not even a Bears fan, but I disagree. I think he has too crap of a team around him. -

QUOTE (DBAHO @ Nov 20, 2009 -> 08:08 AM) In a way, seeing this report makes me sad because T-Mac is still one of my favourite players going around, but he's basically a shadow of what he was back when he was playing with the Magic. Now if the Bulls had a chance to dump a long - term contract such as Deng's for T-Mac's expiring max deal, would you pull the trigger? I honestly would. I think Deng would be perfect for that offense too. Moving him means you can possibly sign two max fa's if you non-tender Tyrus and trade Kirk. -
