  1. QUOTE (SoxFan562004 @ Sep 2, 2009 -> 11:30 AM) Looks like the wildcat trend is spreading, and I could only imagine Ray Lewis licks his chops everytime he sees a QB or WR in a place they're not supposed to be. If people run it a lot against the Ravens I'm predicting one or two highlight reel destructions by Ray Ray As do I. I think the Wildcat will die out rather quickly once guys like Ray Lewis or LaRon Landry injure their star QB spreading out wide.
  2. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Sep 2, 2009 -> 12:12 PM) Please Please Please Please Please give it to Rio, as far away from Chicago as possible Give me the economic boost. Ask Atlanta what the Olympics did for them. Only thing I hate is the excessive salaries the committee is getting paid. That's garbage to me.
  3. QUOTE (oldsox @ Sep 2, 2009 -> 12:36 PM) I usually like to listen to Phillips, but he is not an expert on the White Sox. I am certain there are several readers here who know more about the Sox than he does. So, he really didn't say anything profound in his article. His article took up space, that's all. He admitted he picked the sSox to win the division, so that disqualifies him as any kind of guru. In terms of personnel in April, how can you have picked the Sox with what they had at third, left, and center? This was a bad team from the get-go. There was no reason to pick them to win anything. Kenny has a lot of work to do, but at least he patched a couple of holes. Well Fields was a hot prospect up until this year. CF was a problem, but that was supposed to be the #9 hitter. LF was supposed to be Quentin. On paper, the White Sox had the most talent. It's very easy to see why he predicted the Sox would win. Why wouldn't he?
  4. Wow you guys way underrate Tim Hightower. He will get a lot of TD's this year. My only concern with him is if Beanie ever gets fully healthy this year, he will be starting probably around Week 12. Other than that, he will be a nice RB.
  5. Agreed about Lawler. They need to turn him into a bad guy announcer again. Perfect example of how he was rooting for Owen Hart against Brett back in '94. Spinner belt sucked big time. What happened on this past week's Raw? I missed it for work.
  6. QUOTE (danman31 @ Sep 1, 2009 -> 04:37 PM) I think financially this is a great idea assuming Flowers can be capable next year. I think that's what his September tryout will be about. A better look of whether or not he can be a starter in 2010. The Sox would get a player at league minimum with big potential and give AJ extra rest from playing catcher. The only position that would need to be filled/resigned would be another OF. Rios and Quentin would go out there. If the Sox have money to spend it's probably Dye. If not, Pods. Both wouldn't be out of the question. Why would Dunn play over Paulie at 1st? Because of PK's Thome-Like hip condition.
  7. QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Sep 1, 2009 -> 05:34 PM) I love this idea. I want to see Johnny Danks hit Justin Morneau in the face with a 94mph fastball. Then I want the benches to empty with the Twins players kicking the majority of the Sox players' asses. Beckham, Rios, Floyd, Danks, Buehrle, and Thornton can stay out of it. And DJ Carrasco and Peavy too, if he's there. I'd say keep AJ out of the fray but he's our biggest weapon. The rest of them can fight to the death. And give Flowers some more steroids so he can go on a rampage, breaking his bat into shards and then stabbing Carlos Gomez with it about 47 times. And get Jim Ross to replace Hawk. Stoney and his teenage wife can head on back to Taco Bell for all I care. I hate this team. Oh Dear God. What a heinous act?! Definitely not for the weak at heart. Ken Harrelson, I hope you turn away from your television if you ever witness this.
  8. Quite simply, we sucked with him, so why not suck without him and give him a chance at a ring? Heck, one of the selling points to Jim when he was with the Phillies was that KW promised him he would be given every chance to compete for a ring. This year, the Sox have no chance and KW sees such with Jim's window closing. So we traded him to a legit contender.
  9. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 31, 2009 -> 08:50 PM) Why wasn't this done in late July? Or a week ago for that matter? It's too late for this now, should have sold what parts we do have when we had the chance. Because we were in a race and it's bad business to give up in July when you're like 2 games back.
  10. QUOTE (knightni @ Aug 31, 2009 -> 08:26 PM) Stafford's probably starting. They're still battling it out. Last I heard, Culpepper had an even chance. QUOTE (knightni @ Aug 31, 2009 -> 08:26 PM) Tim Hightower's gonna be a sleeper back this year. Agreed. I think he'll be great this year, but I expect a dropoff towards the end of the year when Beanie Wells should get more reps.
  11. If Moore and Sabean don't take him, no one will. Honestly, I see no deals being done tonight. I like that KW is shopping PK as he's getting older and you don't want to wait until he's Thome's age. You actually want value back.
  12. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Aug 31, 2009 -> 03:43 PM) I think picking Cassel one round after Rodgers was an epic fail. Well the reason why I did that is because usually QB's will give you the most points on a given night, especially in ESPN fantasy leagues. His fantasy weight was more than the next available player, and I can play two QB's at the same time. I got Edwards as insurance just in case Cassel was done, and Culpepper as a 3rd stringer if needed. Culpepper may put up big numbers with Calvin Johnson IMHO, but if Stafford becomes the starter or if someone's on the scrapheap, I'll drop Culpepper in a minute.

  14. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Aug 29, 2009 -> 05:14 PM) Well what I was thinking of is going a more drastic route where when you log into each site there are a list of forums, but all the same database. When you go to Soxtalk, the baseball sites are at the top, when you go to TalkBears, the Bears forum is at the top. The Off Topic is the same forum and everything and basically put each site just has its own unique skin but in its entirety we are talking about one massive site with customized graphics. I have no clue how possible this is, but it was my idea. Basically put there would be the following forums (plus or minus some): Diamond Club, White Sox, Future Sox, Trade Winds (When Needed), Bears, Bulls, Generic Sports Forum. If stuff got very popular, there could be seperate forums for each sport..ie a baseball one, a football one, a basketball one, etc. And the order of the forums just depends on the site you are on. Sounds great to me.
  15. I won't say I'm glad Swisher is gone, but Javy yes which is weird considering I was a much bigger fan of Javy's. Regardless, I think a stronger case has been made for Kenny. The problem is for me that the players seem to play with their heads up their ass. Our good defensive players didn't have enough bat to play. Our offensive players have lapses or flat out suck defensively. Our pitching has looked much worse because of it.
  16. Quite simply, who do you blame? KW, Ozzie, Cooper, Walker or the players. Pick one with a brief synopsis of why. Personally I say it's on the players. KW has done everything he can to put a really nice team on the field on paper. Ozzie really hasn't made any more mistakes this year than he has any other year and has been able to get more out of less players. Cooper has been Cooper, though he may need to work more with bullpen arms. Walker is still Walker, good or bad depending on who you ask. All in all, it seems like the players haven't had a sense of urgency.
  17. QUOTE (santo=dorf @ Aug 29, 2009 -> 01:53 PM) Glad someone is listening to cryptville. Personally I didn't understand how people could keep posting about multiple topics in one thread, ask for a separate forum, and then never post in it (Bhawks, Big Ten board, Bulls board to an extent.) For going to the other boards I don't see how it is convinient to keep logging into separate boards as Rangercal mentioned. I like how the setup Motown sports. I also like when the NCCA BB tourney starts there is a separate sub-forum. Look how popular that is. I say give cryptville his wish. Agreed. If it was cryptville's wish, then give it to him. Take away the other sites or make people use them. Let's not have a site because people ask for them, and then not make them use them.
  18. QUOTE (WCSox @ Aug 29, 2009 -> 02:09 PM) I disagree, and would add that some people here are wrong in thinking that it's OK to throw coaches under the bus in baseball. If JR and Kenny morph into George Steinbrenner, there will be negative consequences. Remember how Griffey and Maddux both nixed trades to the Yankees? You'll see the same thing when Kenny tries to trade for the next Jim Thome or Jake Peavy. And I want to make clear that I'm not against firing Greg Walker... as long as it's done for the right reason. Scapegoating Walker to "send a message" isn't the right reason. I'm pretty sure they didn't nix trades to the Yankees because of their coaches. Also, I'm pretty sure that more players have accepted trades instead of denied the trades because they were the Yankees.
  19. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Aug 29, 2009 -> 02:05 PM) Jenks is certainly worth keeping around, even if we are overpaying. A closer who can't hold a 1 run lead is not someone worth keeping around if you have to overpay. PASS!
  20. He won't get DFA'd. He'd get relegated to the bullpen, but he won't be DFA'd.
  21. QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Aug 29, 2009 -> 01:29 PM) Ramirez will be traded. We will have a new SS or 3B next year. I honestly think Beckham could be a great SS in this league. I don't see him going to SS. They'll probably keep him at 3B for the near future because they have no one else who can play there. Alexei may be going. I think Dye leaving, Quentin being healthy finally and in RF, and Beckham getting a full year at 3B will help tremendously.
  22. I'm going to keep watching no matter what. If it's a blowout game though, I can't say I'll continue to watch though if it's past 7 innings. With that said, GET THE FKN JOB DONE!
  23. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Aug 28, 2009 -> 08:58 PM) Linebrink pitched a scoreless inning? WTF? Told you guys. All Liney needed was confidence from me.
  24. I think Line Drive Brink will get out of the inning. I will have confidence in him.
  25. QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Aug 28, 2009 -> 06:12 PM) As stated above, I also watched it. I assume it's not that great because they didn't want to shine any light on any of the guys currently in TNA or not with WWE. But, yes I agree that it should of been more in-depth. That's what everyone else speculates as well. Apparently, they also just use old Bischoff footage from when he was with the WWE for the interviews that he does in the DVD. What exactly happened to Bischoff and the WWE? How come he's not with them anymore?
