  1. Name: Tanner Scheppers Height/Weight: 6-4 / 200 Date of Birth: 1/17/87 School: Fresno State Brewerfan.net Rank: 6 Scheppers is a tall and projectable right-handed pitcher with long, wiry strong limbs that continues to add strength to his body. He has picture perfect proportions and is built like a prototypical staff ace with the stuff to match. He can pump his fastball in the mid-90s, touching 97 and sitting in the 93-95 range comfortably. His best pitch may be an electric slider that has been clocked in the 85-87 range, which when he's throwing as well as he can he's virtually unhittable. He also throws a curveball and a changeup, but isn't as comfortable with either pitch, but for the most part doesn't need them to be as sharp when his fastball and slider are working for him. He has soared up draft charts after impressing scouts last fall with his velocity, carryinig that success over to the spring, and is a legitimate candidate to go among the top 5-10 overall picks. I kinda like him better than Crow and I was on Crow's bandwagon since the beginning of the season.
  2. QUOTE (JuiceCruz16 @ May 8, 2008 -> 09:35 AM) Kentucky stays busy and gets a good one in Jon Hood for the 2009 class. He was a fairly big Duke target, so I'm glad to see him pass on the Dookies. Gillespie has been a busy boy of late. And busy losing a ton of recruits.
  3. It's weird to see this whole site on Wasserman's case when they were begging for him to come up. Now all of a sudden he's just a minor league pitcher. Weird.
  4. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ May 13, 2008 -> 01:32 PM) Nite our minors are completely devoid of any position prospects. Our number 1 pick must be a positional prospect. I agree, but I don't see KW going positional first because it makes too much sense. If we did go for position, Tim Beckham is a guy who comes to immediate mind. I don't like Gordon much because he seems like the typical Sox hitter. Mash or nothing. His swing gets long, but when he connects, he could get power. His best case scenario is Adam Dunn IMHO at SS. Thing is he seems to be getting bigger and he might have to move to 3B. Now if we didn't have any 3-4 hitters, I'd say he'd be a nice pick. Posey would be an excellent pick. He's AJ Pierzynski (good years) with an arm.
  5. A guy who I would like instead of Aaron Crow thatmay be realistic:
  6. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ May 13, 2008 -> 01:14 PM) Whatever we pick will be cheap. So don't think Alvarez or Smoak. That's stupid but falls inline with White Sox thinking. I wonder why Aaron Crow is so low. IMHO, he's the second best pitcher behind Matusz. I also don't see us taking a high school pitcher. I'd be shocked honestly. Wow, I hate this pick anymore. Seems like this organization is stuck trying to find another Buehrle.
  7. QUOTE (SoxFan101 @ Apr 23, 2008 -> 05:54 PM) He is better at this point but I wouldnt neccesarily say on a worse team. A lot of people dont realize the Hornets have a pretty good group of players. Only player I would take on that team other than Chris Paul is David West and maybe Peja. Tyson is the same player he was in Chicago, but Chris Paul makes him look much much better. Put Chris Paul on the Jazz and wow, they would be able to do some amazing, amazing things. PG - Paul SG - Brewer SF - Kirilenko PF - Boozer C - Okur Wow, to think about all the oops with Kirilenko and the kickouts to Okur would be insane.
  8. Skipping Buehrle again? Why?
  9. QUOTE (SleepyWhiteSox @ Apr 23, 2008 -> 10:14 AM) He's no deron williams... He's better on a worse team.
  10. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Apr 22, 2008 -> 11:49 PM) 1.First game of the season for me. Check. 2.Painful Sox loss. Check. 3.Surrounded by thousands of Yankee fans? Check? 4.Listening to idiot, drunk Sox fans? Check. Ugh. You too? Tons of crap going down in the bleachers. It was bittersweet actually. Things I hated was Uribe swinging at first pitch when Chamberlin was pitching. Subbing out Logan for Dotel was pretty idiotic. I told my friends and the people around me, it was stupid because Boone only had 5 or 6 pitches. He got the groundball, but unfortunately, it just bounced the wrong way. Dotel got the first batter out, and everyone's like Ozzie knows what he's doing. Gives up the Grand Slam, people started agreeing it was a terrible move.
  11. I wonder how much research was done when making this thread. Gooch isn't having such a great year.
  12. Might as well put Dotel in if that crap's going to happen. I wish he had that 100mph heat with him.
  13. I'd give up Fields for him with no hesitation if we also have a resigned Crede.
  14. Everytime this pops up, we lose. Let this thread die.
  15. QUOTE (FlaCWS @ Apr 15, 2008 -> 08:44 PM) Wow, I didn't even realize they've worn the black for all but TWO games. That is ridiculous. To the point about superstition, as far as I recall they didn't wear the black in any of the '05 playoff or WS games. Well because their favorite jerseys, especially Jon Garland's favorite, the white vests were retired which I think is dumb. Those were my favorite jerseys by far. They wore those in the playoffs until they lost. I personally like the black jerseys best, now that those are gone.
  16. QUOTE (Gbubbs @ Apr 7, 2008 -> 08:41 PM) Exactly the kind of post they were trying to ask about in the why are you here post. There is no point to it. Someone is honest and puts in their thoughts, and you come up with -- that? Nice Post. Use a complete sentence at least. You obviously love Crede. Well, so do I. I am just a little more pragmatic than you. My life, hmmm, the same as everyone's life. In your terms. My life = everyone elses. LOL nice job of over analysis.
  17. QUOTE (mr_genius @ Apr 7, 2008 -> 08:17 PM) hmm, looked like a full house on tv Attendance was around 38,000 (that was announced), but it didn't look like that much. The Cell holds up to 40,500+. I'm not saying it was completely empty, but it wasn't packed. I was able to move from row 19 in section 522 to first row without ever having to move. There were several rows just completely empty.
  18. QUOTE (SoxFan101 @ Apr 7, 2008 -> 06:30 PM) I think getting Quentin from Arizona helps take away the loss of Chris Young too, especially since its the same team we gave CY. I agree. Went to the game today and it beyond great. Only bad thing is, the place didn't looked sold out at all.
  19. Scoreboard keeper was god awful and it takes a ton for me to say that.
  20. Why did Konerko not dump that changeup into CF is beyond my knowledge.
  21. There's only one true solution. Bench Nick Swisher.
  22. QUOTE(Phil McKrevice @ Mar 31, 2008 -> 04:58 PM) This game should be 10-7. It is 10-7
  23. Someone tell us what's happening please.
  24. What's happening? Gameday isn't working
