  1. QUOTE (SleepyWhiteSox @ Apr 23, 2008 -> 10:14 AM) He's no deron williams... He's better on a worse team.
  2. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Apr 22, 2008 -> 11:49 PM) 1.First game of the season for me. Check. 2.Painful Sox loss. Check. 3.Surrounded by thousands of Yankee fans? Check? 4.Listening to idiot, drunk Sox fans? Check. Ugh. You too? Tons of crap going down in the bleachers. It was bittersweet actually. Things I hated was Uribe swinging at first pitch when Chamberlin was pitching. Subbing out Logan for Dotel was pretty idiotic. I told my friends and the people around me, it was stupid because Boone only had 5 or 6 pitches. He got the groundball, but unfortunately, it just bounced the wrong way. Dotel got the first batter out, and everyone's like Ozzie knows what he's doing. Gives up the Grand Slam, people started agreeing it was a terrible move.
  3. I wonder how much research was done when making this thread. Gooch isn't having such a great year.
  4. Might as well put Dotel in if that crap's going to happen. I wish he had that 100mph heat with him.
  5. I'd give up Fields for him with no hesitation if we also have a resigned Crede.
  6. Everytime this pops up, we lose. Let this thread die.
  7. QUOTE (FlaCWS @ Apr 15, 2008 -> 08:44 PM) Wow, I didn't even realize they've worn the black for all but TWO games. That is ridiculous. To the point about superstition, as far as I recall they didn't wear the black in any of the '05 playoff or WS games. Well because their favorite jerseys, especially Jon Garland's favorite, the white vests were retired which I think is dumb. Those were my favorite jerseys by far. They wore those in the playoffs until they lost. I personally like the black jerseys best, now that those are gone.
  8. QUOTE (Gbubbs @ Apr 7, 2008 -> 08:41 PM) Exactly the kind of post they were trying to ask about in the why are you here post. There is no point to it. Someone is honest and puts in their thoughts, and you come up with -- that? Nice Post. Use a complete sentence at least. You obviously love Crede. Well, so do I. I am just a little more pragmatic than you. My life, hmmm, the same as everyone's life. In your terms. My life = everyone elses. LOL nice job of over analysis.
  9. QUOTE (mr_genius @ Apr 7, 2008 -> 08:17 PM) hmm, looked like a full house on tv Attendance was around 38,000 (that was announced), but it didn't look like that much. The Cell holds up to 40,500+. I'm not saying it was completely empty, but it wasn't packed. I was able to move from row 19 in section 522 to first row without ever having to move. There were several rows just completely empty.
  10. QUOTE (SoxFan101 @ Apr 7, 2008 -> 06:30 PM) I think getting Quentin from Arizona helps take away the loss of Chris Young too, especially since its the same team we gave CY. I agree. Went to the game today and it beyond great. Only bad thing is, the place didn't looked sold out at all.
  11. Scoreboard keeper was god awful and it takes a ton for me to say that.
  12. Why did Konerko not dump that changeup into CF is beyond my knowledge.
  13. QUOTE(Phil McKrevice @ Mar 31, 2008 -> 04:58 PM) This game should be 10-7. It is 10-7
  14. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Mar 30, 2008 -> 10:18 PM) Crede said KW never made an offer to HIM personally. KW came back and said he doesn't make offers to players he's makes offers to agents. He called Boras with the intention of negotiating a long term deal but Boras turned him down on the spot. It's actually stated in the CBA that a GM can not go around an agent and negotiate a contract with a player. Correct, if KW went around Boras, he'd be reprimanded.
  15. QUOTE(BobDylan @ Mar 30, 2008 -> 07:58 PM) Confidence can work wonders on a player. There's no stat in baseball for that. I won't defend Uribe all year, but I'll defend him on opening day even if he goes 0-5 with 5 K's and 20 men left on base. I just don't agree to make an already bad situation at 2B worse. With what people here expect the Sox to do this year, it doesn't matter who they roll out where anyway. How would it make it worse? Uribe has more power than Ozuna and that's it. Ozuna is a much much much better hitter against lefties. It makes no sense for Uribe to start.
  16. QUOTE(BobDylan @ Mar 30, 2008 -> 07:29 PM) Says who? The numbers? Everyone knew since day one Ozzie was hired that we wouldn't see the every day norm. I couldn't care less what Pablo hits against C.C. If Juan Uribe is my starting 2B, then he's starting at 2B on opening day. Some people even want to bench Thome? How else can we micromanage the game? Maybe we should just go the Bill Veeck route and put signs out in the stands and let the fans call the game. (...waiting for the first 50 people to tell me that Veeck's team won that game...) If there is any way for Juan Uribe to get worse -- after going through the justice system, being replaced at SS, shoped around in the off-season, and then placed on waivers -- it's to tell him he's the starting second baseman and then sit him on opening day because there is a bench player behind him who missed more than considerable time last year that hits the pitcher better. Give the man a break. I disagree. Why have Pablo? What he brings to the table is his ability to hit tough lefties such as CC. He's one of the very few who could hit him, yet we're going to bench him for the Tazmanian Devil who can't hit worth a lick? I don't advocate benching Thome because he's probably your most dangerous hitter. But complaining because we won't bench an awful bat for a guy who actually could hit a tough matchup just doesn't sound right to me.
  17. QUOTE(BearSox @ Mar 30, 2008 -> 06:32 PM) If all of Logan, Wasserman, MacDougal, Thornton, Linebrink, Dotel, and Jenks can't pitch more then 1 inning, then they shouldn't be on an mlb roster. Logan can easily give 2, I'm sure Wasserman can go 2, and Thornton and Jenks are both former starters and can give at least 2 each. Thornton probably could go 3 easy. Linebring could go 2. Dotel and Mac, better not risk it. So, lets say Buehrle gets knocked out after the second. Put Was in there for 2. Then put Logan in for 2. We got ourselves to the 7th Then Thornton/Linebrink can get you 2 and/or finish the game, depending on the score (and it's probably not good for us if Buehrle gets knocked out after 2), and if they can finish or we have the lead, Dotel/MacDougal/Jenks could close it out. It's not an ideal sitaution, but there is no rule that a relief pitcher can't go more then 1 inning if they aren't a "long man." And the next day if Vazquez or perhaps Danks leave in 2 innings? You have half your bullpen gone, so you have to hope for a great game the next day.
  18. White Sox break record for most wins ever. Perfect 173 - 0
  19. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Mar 29, 2008 -> 05:16 PM) I think it was sort of by the "our eyes" format, which saw him have an abjectly terrible start, but pick it up in the last couple weeks. Considering how hard it is to come up with "bi-weekly spring training splits" or something ridiculous like that, it's hard to make that argument, but by all accounts, his first week or two were by far his worst, and he did significantly improve in the last couple. I thought his first couple of weeks were good but his only 5 starts were god awful! I'm pretty sure they mentioned it in the Sun-times today as well how he was only good because he was facing ghosts in the batters box.
