  1. This game is going to be longer than yesterdays.
  2. Wow, what is up with Javier? He can't find the strikezone at all. Shades of Damaso a couple of years back.
  3. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 20, 2008 -> 04:47 PM) So you guys are saying don't even try for a triple when it is a standup triple cause you might fall down and be called out at third for the first out of an inning? My god. That situation, you really cannot blame BA. If you have no outs and it's the 9th in a tie game, you have to have confidence that someone will get you in. We did a pathetic job behind him.
  4. QUOTE (ChWRoCk2 @ Jun 20, 2008 -> 04:18 PM) I understand Linebrink is our best guy but you really have to bring your closer in for that situation, thats a closer type situation. Oh well, we should knock up Marquis tomorrow but Contreras can be just as bad. Sad thing is Lou recognized that. Ozzie however does not. Again it doesn't seem like he recognizes his bullpen's strengths all that much. To me, he pretty much lucked out in 2005 because everyone in that bullpen was just great. Damaso was the mental midget, but I rather take him over Dotel anyday of the week. He had the stuff and he just became different because of Ozzie. Dotel just doesn't have it anymore.
  5. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 20, 2008 -> 04:04 PM) Its pretty evident the more times through the lineup, plus the added fatigue, and its only going to get more difficult to get guys out. Bottom line is I wouldn't have had a problem if Ozzie went either way because you could make the argument that either move makes sense. The only time there is legitimate reason to question a call (as far as I'm concerned) is if there is no rationale reasoning behind such move. There was no rational picking Dotel out of all people when you have seen what he has done in hostile environments. Like when he came in against the Yankees in the opener against them I believe it was. Completely choked and I called it. He is not the same pitcher he was. Stop using him. I honestly have more confidence in Masset because at least his stuff is pretty good. He actually has a chance. Dotel has the mentality that he could still go right down the middle with his fastball or slider because he hasn't come to terms that he's lost it. He can't blow anyone by anymore.
  6. Maybe our bullpen sucks because Ozzie doesn't recognize his personnel. How many times do we have to witness Ozzie take out a Loogy against a left handed hitter for him to put in a righty who the guy rakes against career wise? And for anyone defending Dotel, this isn't the Dotel that was with Houston throwing 96mph with a sharp slider. This is beat up, don't put me in a pressure situation Dotel because I will choke. If we make it to the playoffs, I'd be very afraid Ozzie would put him in.
  7. Why does Ozzie have so much confidence in Dotel? He's good when his slider bites, but 89% of the time, it isn't biting!
  8. I'm wondering who the hell changed his pitching motion? I think that jacked up his pitching as it's now easier to see the ball quicker off his hands
  9. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Jun 5, 2008 -> 12:21 PM) If they select Castro, then Kenny needs to go. Overdrafting a scouts relative should be a firing offense. Don't fire him. Demote him to Assistant Supervisor of Janitorial Operations.
  10. QUOTE (dasox24 @ Jun 5, 2008 -> 12:17 PM) Yep, that is really where we'll begin to see how it's going to unfold for us. Let's hope for the best KC is taking Hosmer. I'm pretty sure it's on the 2nd page. Baltimore is taking Brian Matusz. When SF picks is when it will get interesting because they really like Posey, but 12 million is alot.
  11. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Jun 5, 2008 -> 12:11 PM) WHAT THE f*** COULD ZIMMER BE ON THE PHONE ABOUT. Ordering some food.
  12. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jun 5, 2008 -> 12:04 PM) They should just let Gage and I do it so he can botch all the Latino names. "YEW-ON-DUR A-LOAN-ZO"
  13. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 5, 2008 -> 11:55 AM) You just have to stop allowing the players and agents manipulate the draft this way. There may as well not even be a draft order anymore... I agree. I think it is really pointless to have the draft if that's the case. Might as well just make them FA's. MLB really needs to institute a hard slot number for each pick like the NBA. I think this is the only good thing the NBA does.
  14. I am hoping for Crow, Matusz if we go pitching. Hitting wise, Smoak or bust!
  15. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 5, 2008 -> 10:44 AM) Sox have no interest in going that much over slot money. Well I didn't specifically mean pieces falling in place to get Posey. I personally think if they do get a C, it will be Castro for reasons already stated. I personally am not a fan. And yes, JR won't go over slot because of both money and because he's good friends with Bud Selig.
  16. So far pieces are starting to fall into place. Buster Posey looks to be dropping because of his outrageous demand of a 12 million dollar bonus. TB will take Beckham. PIT will take Alvarez KC will take Hosmer
  17. Name: Tanner Scheppers Height/Weight: 6-4 / 200 Date of Birth: 1/17/87 School: Fresno State Brewerfan.net Rank: 6 Scheppers is a tall and projectable right-handed pitcher with long, wiry strong limbs that continues to add strength to his body. He has picture perfect proportions and is built like a prototypical staff ace with the stuff to match. He can pump his fastball in the mid-90s, touching 97 and sitting in the 93-95 range comfortably. His best pitch may be an electric slider that has been clocked in the 85-87 range, which when he's throwing as well as he can he's virtually unhittable. He also throws a curveball and a changeup, but isn't as comfortable with either pitch, but for the most part doesn't need them to be as sharp when his fastball and slider are working for him. He has soared up draft charts after impressing scouts last fall with his velocity, carryinig that success over to the spring, and is a legitimate candidate to go among the top 5-10 overall picks. I kinda like him better than Crow and I was on Crow's bandwagon since the beginning of the season.
  18. QUOTE (JuiceCruz16 @ May 8, 2008 -> 09:35 AM) Kentucky stays busy and gets a good one in Jon Hood for the 2009 class. He was a fairly big Duke target, so I'm glad to see him pass on the Dookies. Gillespie has been a busy boy of late. And busy losing a ton of recruits.
  19. It's weird to see this whole site on Wasserman's case when they were begging for him to come up. Now all of a sudden he's just a minor league pitcher. Weird.
  20. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ May 13, 2008 -> 01:32 PM) Nite our minors are completely devoid of any position prospects. Our number 1 pick must be a positional prospect. I agree, but I don't see KW going positional first because it makes too much sense. If we did go for position, Tim Beckham is a guy who comes to immediate mind. I don't like Gordon much because he seems like the typical Sox hitter. Mash or nothing. His swing gets long, but when he connects, he could get power. His best case scenario is Adam Dunn IMHO at SS. Thing is he seems to be getting bigger and he might have to move to 3B. Now if we didn't have any 3-4 hitters, I'd say he'd be a nice pick. Posey would be an excellent pick. He's AJ Pierzynski (good years) with an arm.
  21. A guy who I would like instead of Aaron Crow thatmay be realistic:
  22. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ May 13, 2008 -> 01:14 PM) Whatever we pick will be cheap. So don't think Alvarez or Smoak. That's stupid but falls inline with White Sox thinking. I wonder why Aaron Crow is so low. IMHO, he's the second best pitcher behind Matusz. I also don't see us taking a high school pitcher. I'd be shocked honestly. Wow, I hate this pick anymore. Seems like this organization is stuck trying to find another Buehrle.
  23. QUOTE (SoxFan101 @ Apr 23, 2008 -> 05:54 PM) He is better at this point but I wouldnt neccesarily say on a worse team. A lot of people dont realize the Hornets have a pretty good group of players. Only player I would take on that team other than Chris Paul is David West and maybe Peja. Tyson is the same player he was in Chicago, but Chris Paul makes him look much much better. Put Chris Paul on the Jazz and wow, they would be able to do some amazing, amazing things. PG - Paul SG - Brewer SF - Kirilenko PF - Boozer C - Okur Wow, to think about all the oops with Kirilenko and the kickouts to Okur would be insane.
