Just for fun...
Its going to cost 60 million to sign Zito. No way. If your name isnt Liriano, Santana or Halladay I wouldnt even think about it.

Interesting Statistics
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jul 31, 2006 -> 06:17 AM) I prefer to dwell on the positives; Nate Robertson Post ASB - 6.86 ERA Kenny Rogers Post ASB - 10.97 ERA Jeremy Bonderman Post ASB - 4.56 ERA Lucky for them, Verlander has won 3 of his starts, and Miner continues to float above water. Rogers is toast, but Im surprised about Verlander. I thought he would wear down in his first full season, but hes showing no signs of doing so. The thing is, I really cant see him staying this strong through a deep playoff run. Hes never thrown that many innings. And even if the Tigers do win the whole thing, we can hope Verlander and Bonderman get Buerhle/Garcia dead arm syndrome and that Liriano and Santana trip and fall on the same banana peel.

7/31 White Sox v. Royals
well, we have 3 against the Royals and the Twins have 3 against the Rangers. It would be real nice to pick up 2 games on the Twins here.

Zito?
QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 30, 2006 -> 11:16 AM) Nobody wants Owens. I would suspect his value in trade is almost nothing. More of a toss-in than anything else. I disagree, his value is nowhere near last year, but his average is climbing, and i cant imagine that he would be a totally worthless player in 2 years.

Miguel Tejada
QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 29, 2006 -> 09:23 AM) If we get Tejada, it's gonna suck when he's caught using steroids. Honestly, almost all of us know he's on them, whether you admit it or not. really? QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jul 30, 2006 -> 06:11 AM) Yikes for the Angels; i guess the O's just think they have too much good pitching. with russ ortiz around, who needs ervin santana?

The Josh Fields Question
People really need to stop whining about Boras. He does exactly what he's being paid to do, get his players the most money he can. There is no loyalty in this area of baseball, and if Kenny can trade you then you sure as hell have every right to get every fishing dollar you can get (if that's your desire).

QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 29, 2006 -> 03:36 PM) Yanks trail 10-4....that game's far from over though. GO TIGERS!- Great trade deadline information
QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 28, 2006 -> 08:20 PM) I still we be very surprised if Soriano's not traded for H. Sanchez and another prospect. i dont care if he goes to detroit, but we really cant let minnesota get him.- Padres "focused on Fields"
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 28, 2006 -> 11:38 PM) How are they "far from flashy"? He's a top 5 righty setup man in baseball, period. He has dominated the National League for the past 3 seasons and has been about as consistent as they come. Take another look at those stats because they don't get much better than that. He's given up 7 runs over his past 4 outings so his numbers aren't going to look great for this season but a week ago he was sporting a 2.62 ERA. uh, oh, here comes the "last week, before he gave up all those runs, his ERA was..." game. these are always fun. - 7/29/06 White Sox v.
