Gavin "Pretty Boy" Floyd vs. D-Train, Going for three!

Gavin looks fine. Semi-respectable changeup, two-seamer with some movement, marginal curve. -

This post is a first. An angry, emotional, tirade, that is, at the same time, right on point and well written. Nice job.

QUOTE(rpmahr @ Feb 28, 2008 -> 03:37 PM) what are the odds ba makes this team? Small. I bet Juan and Brian are traded if they have great springs and if Ramirez and Owens simultaneously have great springs. A lot of its there . . .

Time to up the ante: Sign Bonds to a 1yr deal
shawnhillegas replied to scenario's topic in Sox Baseball Headquarters
QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Dec 6, 2007 -> 12:53 PM) honestly, I share a distaste for Bonds but it's tempered and nuance -- that said... would you feel that same way about Joe DiMaggio, who was greedy, a jerk, a wife-beater, an asshole to fans...he was Barry Bonds without "cheating" or a hostile media. Taking illegal steroids and lying to the federal government under oath IS the problem here, not greed or temperament. So no, I don't feel the same. -
QUOTE(Lemon_44 @ Dec 4, 2007 -> 10:12 PM) Nobody knows what kind of career Hart is going to have. He might be a 1 year wonder like Bill Hall or he might be a perrenial all star. The start is promising but there have been alot of guys who have had nice starts to their career and flushed out rather quickly. I don't think that will be the case with Hart but, who knows? One thing we do know, when healthy, Joe Crede is an all-star,gold glove caliber 3b. Those type of guys just don't grow on trees. Obviuosly the key is health but Rolen is a guy who comes to mind that has health problems and bounced back nicley. He's better than Crede but Joe is, at least, in the same ball park. KW has really put a damper on Crede's trade value by thinking he "needs" to trade him. There's no way he get equal value in return.Of course, i'm assuming a healthy Crede and that he's been cleared for all baseball activities points in that direction. Go back to 2006. You don't think the Brewers would've traded Hart for Crede. That trade would've been crucified on the Sox end of things. But, it's not 2006 either. Is this a joke? The damper on Crede's trade value comes from the fact that he is coming off major, unpredictable back surgery, is 30, and is about to be a free agent with Scott Boras as his agent. He doesn't have any trade value.

My official do not trade Dye sale

Should the Sox consider standing pat?
shawnhillegas replied to VAfan's topic in Sox Baseball Headquarters
Stand pat, not sign anyone this offseason, then suck again next year, last in the league in all offensive categories. No thanks. Prospects may or may not pan out, but Matt Kemp or Lastings Milledge are better options that Erstad or Pods. Maybe we sign Byrnes, maybe not. But lets not pretend we are going to sign ARod or Fukudome, or Andruw Jones either. I saw how many people had Ichiro penciled in next years lineup. It aint happenin. -
All I ask is that Juan Uribe is gone forever.

Anyone think Buerhle more likely to re-sign?
shawnhillegas replied to beck72's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Right now, I say trade him. If you want to sign him, sign him this offseason. This team needs to be completely rebuilt. -
QUOTE(southsida86 @ Jun 24, 2007 -> 06:41 PM) I have a feeling that we're all going to be irate about the return we get for Buehrle. I don't think we're going to get ANY of Buchholz, Ellsbury, Bowden and Bard. I think the trade will be more like what they're talking about on SOSH than what we're talking about. There are going to be a lot of calls for Kenny's head on a silver platter after this trade, and I think that they are all going to be justified. I love posts that start with "I have a feeling..."

This is a joke.

QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 24, 2007 -> 11:35 AM) There's no way in hell that Ichiro or ARod will sign with a bottom 5 team in the majors. We have so many holes to fix anyways, it would be dumb to put that much money into one player. Umm. Are we talking about the Alex Rodriguez that signed with Texas and is represented by Scott Boras here? Perhaps Ichiro would not, but Boras goes for the market, not the team. I know that everyone here has a mancrush on Mark, but I can no longer support signing him. This offense is absolutely, positively horrendous, and at this point, there is nothing in the farm that would help us turn it around. We need to be putting that 80 million into Ichiro or Arod, or some other position player right now, and hope that Gavin or Gio or Egbert can step up. If we commit another 16 million to a pitcher next year, we will again see the worst offense in baseball.

Who cares about supplemental picks? At this rate, we are going to be selecting #1 OVERALL!!!!!!

White Sox vs. A's, 5/23/2007 (L)

QUOTE(fathom @ May 23, 2007 -> 06:26 PM) What in the hell is going on with our positioning? If you're going to keep pitching players away, then why are you shading up the middle? that was terrible terrible alignment -
I hope that everyone on this board read Rick Morrisey's column today. It exposes all the absurdity that follows the "puritan commando" style of Jay Mariotti, and does so in a classy, yet critical way. It is the ultimate indictment of hyperbolic, holier-than-thou, emotional sportswriting. And it is beautiful.
