QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 9, 2005 -> 08:34 PM) With Politte warming right now, I would imagine the Count is going to be calling it a night. With Politte's fastballs, I am very AFRAID, especially against the dangerous Yankee lineup. Please have Count come in.

It's Jose's game to win. I would let Jose pitch the 8th and Hermanson the 9th. I just don't trust Marte right now. At the sight of him warming up, I kinda feel chill!

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 9, 2005 -> 08:13 PM) What's the point of acquiring Blum if we're not going to sit Crede when he's in a massive slump? I just can't believe how terribly Crede has been hitting! Wow, what a LAME AB! As if he didn't even care!

QUOTE(Iwritecode @ Aug 5, 2005 -> 03:39 PM) I don't think we'll make it to 2.5 this year. Back in April or May I looked at last year's monthly averages and made some guesses as to what they would be this year. I came up with a total of just over 2.3 million. So far all my monthly guesses have been just a little on the high side. I'm thinking they'll end up with somewhere between 2.1 and 2.3 for the year. They'd have to average 36,000+ a night for the remaining home games to hit 2.5 for the year. Did your calculation include the playoff home games?

Who says we need Billy Wagner?

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 3, 2005 -> 09:37 PM) These are the type of games where Ozzie is exposed for not having a clue what he's doing during the game. Someone might have wanted to tell Ozzie that Chulk is .100 pts better, in terms of batting average, against righties than lefties. Fathom: At the end of this season, why don't you send in your application to take over Ozzie's job? But for now, I trust Ozzie's professional knowledge than your amaturish guessing!

QUOTE(EvilJester99 @ Aug 3, 2005 -> 08:36 PM) Wow Paulie actually comes through.... Give me a back to back.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Aug 3, 2005 -> 01:50 PM) How do you know that the Sox can't get Griffey. There's a good chance that he would clear waivers and KW has already shown a willingness to deal good prospects for him, the only thing blocking the deal would be the Cincy Ownership group. Why would you bring up Clemens adn Bonds, the Sox have a 1000000% higher chance of landing Griffey than either of those two what because we could of had them in Free Agency? s*** comparison. If my memory served me correctly, I believe Manny cleared his waiver last year. Noone wanted to touch that humongous contract. Hopefully, Griffey will clear his waiver as well. Even if he's cleared, I doubt their owner would approve the trade this time since they've already rejected once. Griffey would look mighty fine in the White Sox uniform!!!

QUOTE(redandwhite @ Aug 3, 2005 -> 03:11 AM) He without a doubt deserves to be inducted into the Hall of Fame. Bonds, Sosa, McGwire will all be inducted and all are just as guilty as Palmiero, if not more. Should these four guys, quite possibly four of the best players in this generation, not be inducted into the Hall of Fame? Hell, if that's the case, why don't MLB create another Hall and name it Hall of Shame, and put those cheaters in? It just incensed me when MLB knew of Palmeiro's drug failing back in May, and they allowed every baseball fan to glorify him when he got his 3000 hits eventhough they knew that he was a cheater. Damn MLB! Damn Palmeiro! How can they lie with a straight face like that??? Hall of Shame inductees: MLB, Palmeiro, Sosa, Bonds, McGuire and all of those cheaters Hall of Fame inductees: Thomas and all of those played by the rules.

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Aug 2, 2005 -> 07:38 PM) That WAS a Judy type inning. He's gonna get em the rest of the way... SoxFan1, why don't you STFU? Whine, whine. whine. I'm tired of you calling Garland Judy.

Should the Sox win the World Series, is Shingo entitled for a ring? I wish he could.

QUOTE(Yossarian @ Aug 1, 2005 -> 10:31 AM) Some folks have a hard time understanding that it's not alway possible to make that blockbuster move just before the trading deadline. The pickings were slim and the asking prices too high this year. The people who are criticizing KW for not making a major trade are people who just want to make trade for the sake of making trade. The trading market is as dry as the desert. If you want a glass of water, you have to pay an arm and a leg. To those people, what would have you done if you were KW? Would you trade away Buehrle, Garcia, Garland, etc? I don't believe you know what you really want!

QUOTE(Soxnbears01 @ Jul 31, 2005 -> 03:15 PM) just went on the cubs messageboard. They're absolutely furious this is all they did at the deadline. they got no shot at the playoffs, way too incosistent. My question is "How could the Pirates allow Jim Hendry to rape them year after year? My gosh, Gerut for Lawton! Are you nuts Pirates????

QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Jul 29, 2005 -> 01:32 PM) I agree that KW is going to let Bruce Levine have it for reporting this. I know I would since now teams are going to know he's desperate for a bat. F'n Levine. Anyway, Depending on how much the White Sox would pay of Griffey's contract, they could ask for anything between a Brandon McCarthy straight up to a Kris Honel if we were to pay all of his contract. Don't you know that this is Levine's strategical plan to sabotage the White Sox's season! I bet now teams will ask for higher prices should we need to acquire a batter. Damn Levine!

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 28, 2005 -> 09:43 AM) Remember when everyone was fawning over Gload and talking about how we had to get him up here? Some of us argued that he wouldn't make that much of a difference because he wouldn't be playing very often, and that could be a problem? Well this is Gload after the game yesterday. I know he is pissed, but I don't like seeing guys who are the 26th man on a 25 man roster complain about playing time. If it wasn't for Frank's injury, he wouldn't be here in the first place. He is lucky to be on this team. It is his job as a bench player to stay fresh by taking grounders in BP if that's what it takes to keep him sharp. But him playing 1B only every couple of weeks is what we need him to do. Konerko is going to be the everyday starter, and if Gload can't handle what we ask of him, by the words out of his very own mouth, then we need to find someone who can. SSI2K5: You've misinterpreted his sayings. Gload meant, requoted by me, "I only play once every two weeks, already I have cost us a game." Just like saying, "I just started on a job only for a few days, already I have messed up the computer. Gload was just being hard on himself. He certainly did not mean to complain about his playing time.

To ALL OF YOU who called Kenny stupid if he should trade away Politte in a package to acquire Burnett, you guys know NOTHING. If indeed Kenny trades Politte, I will be okayed with it. You know WHY? I trust Kenny much more than I trust a bunch of guys who idiotically think they have better knowledge than our GM. Please! You guys probably were the same ones who jumped on Kenny's throat when he made the Carlos Lee for Pods and Vizcaino trade! Have faith and trust our GM. It's so easy for us guys to sit behind our computers and telling Kenny, "I want that player; I want this player" when in all honesty, we know NOTHING about what's going on behind the curtain.

Little bit more info: http://www.timesonline.com/site/news.cfm?newsid=14920433&BRD=2305&PAG=461&dept_id=478568&rfi=6 Thus, there has been speculation the Chicago White Sox could become involved in a three-team trade with the Pirates and Marlins. The White Sox have two top outfield prospects at Class AA Birmingham - Ryan Sweeney and Chris Young - and could package one of those along with left-handed reliever Damaso Marte in a deal with the Marlins for right-hander A.J. Burnett. The Marlins would then send Sweeeny or Young to the Pirates for Redman. July 31st couldn't get here soon enough! I am drained with all of these speculations...

QUOTE(daa84 @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 08:15 AM) its a tough call, the last few weeks ive been saying schmidt over burnett, but i think burnett may be pulling closer. a better question is omar vs. lowell. considering our style of play and the money, i think vizquel is a better option. the only people i have ever seen that have softer hands than omar are ozzie smith and marvin harrison. i feel like burnetts stock can only get worse than what it is now, and i feel that schmidts will only go up. so i would tend to buy low and go with schmidt and vizquel. I prefer Schmidt and Vizquel for this year as well. However, this might be our only chance to acquire a power pitcher at a fairly young age of 28. The vision of our starting pitching lineup - Buerhle, Burnett, Garland, Garcia - together for a few years is just making me drool.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 06:36 AM) I think the order will be the opposite. If you see the Sox get a lefty reliever, the big deal is on the way immediately to follow. With the position that the Giants are in, they have got to be thinking about new players for next year and beyond. They are an old team, and screwed without Barry Bonds. They really need to start planning for life AB, After Barry. Damn, this suspense is killing me! I can't take it anymore! I am going insane with anticipation! I... I... I... I would love to have Schmidt AND Vizquel on this team. Burnett AND Lowell or Schmidt AND Vizquel Make your selection known!

QUOTE(YASNY @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 07:47 AM) The 24 hours referred to in the thread title are almost gone. I guess we'll have to extend the 'deadline'. Kenny is using his 72-hour negotiation with Burnett trying to lock him down for three more years. Who know? We know for sure by this coming Sunday.

QUOTE(whitesoxmanager @ Jul 24, 2005 -> 04:22 PM) group hug! Although I'm in the nice AC house, I did feel the 105 degree heat. PHEW!!!

Give me Burnett and Vizquel, and we're all set for the playoff. Not only for this year, if KW miraculously signs Burnet for three more years, my gosh, how good are the Sox going to be in the next three years. Buehrle, Burnett, Garcia and Garland will keep us in contention every year!!! Wow, please make it happen Kenny.
