  1. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 12, 2005 -> 08:10 PM) LaRussa making a bet that the NL will score in the top of the 6th.....against Jon. Buck it up everyone. Garland is next. Come on Jon. Go and prove Larussa wrong.
  2. Gosh, has anyone looked at our schedule after the AS break? Try to hang onto your nerve everyone. It's going to be one of the toughest and most turbulent rides, especially in the month of August. 4 @ Cleveland 3 v Detroit 4 v Boston 3 @ KC 4 @ Baltimore 3 v Toronto 3 v Seattle 3 @ Yanks 3 @ Boston 3 v Minny 3 v Yanks 3 @ Minny 3 @ Seattle 4 @ Texas If we still hold onto our 9-game lead at the end of August, we are DEFINITELY going to win the division and march into the playoff confidently. In all honesty, I am SCARED! Can someone reassure me?
  3. If we have the chance to get Schmidt, we definitely have to get him. If we want to win the WS, we have to get another quality starting pitcher and another quality batter. If you're going to ask me who, Hell no, I don't know know who? That's KW 's job.
  4. 1. His humility: "But on Tuesday, Buehrle noticed that he was having trouble getting the fastball where he wanted it -- a point that became crystal clear when Brandon Inge flied out to deep center in the fifth on a drive that would have been a home run in many other ballparks. Buehrle suggested to Widger that use of the cutter, which was working well, mixed in with the fastball might be better in those situations. The left-hander joked that he almost made the suggestion apologetically. The pitchers have an extremely high level of trust in their batterymates. "He's the type of guy, usually the day after I pitch, he'll ask me what did I like, what did I dislike, what do I want to change the next time," Buehrle said of Widger. "I almost feel bad saying something because I don't want him to think I don't trust what he's calling or I'm telling him what to do. "I'm just kind of relaying what I was thinking. It was one of those things where I was apologizing when I said it: 'Let's throw a few more cutters, if it's OK with you.'" I wonder other All-Star pitchers have this wonderful gesture toward the second and lucky-to-be-on-the-team catcher! 2. Among the elites: "Tuesday's gritty effort over 6 2/3 innings allowed Buehrle to join teammate Jon Garland, Toronto's Roy Halladay and the Angels' Bartolo Colon as double-digit winners in the AL. Buehrle entered 2005 with at least 14 victories in each of his last four seasons. In fact, Buehrle's latest effort raises his victory total to 75 since 2001, tied with Boston's Curt Schilling for third best in all of baseball during that span. St. Louis' Mark Mulder leads all hurlers with 81 wins, followed by Colon (77). Roger Clemens and Randy Johnson stand one victory behind Buehrle." Not bad of a group to be in. GO BUEHRLE
  5. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jun 29, 2005 -> 09:17 PM) PK Uribe Bullpen Frank BMac What a f***ing win. One of the best and longest of the year. I was extremely skeptical of Jizzcan and Shingo but they proved me wrong. Awesome win! 52 wins b****es!!! Guys, I think I need a cardiac surgeon quick. Man, these kinds of games are just not good for my heart! I guess I have to leave the Sox for twenty-four hours to recuperate. GREAT EXCITING GAME!!! Let's go for "You Know What" tomorrow!!!
  6. QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Jun 29, 2005 -> 01:44 PM) At 51-24 & coming off a BIG 2-1 win to break a 2 game losing streak at the hands of the Cub you need to think realistically of what a trade means. Does this team have enough talent to 1) win the division & 2) secure home field advantage in the ALCS? The team has a 9 gm lead over the Twins & a 4.5 gm lead over the Angels. When you figure Timo will be replaced by Gload in weeks to come the answer to both questions is YES. So the trade only has value for the post-season which all comes down to pitching matchups. The bullpen is strengthened by the fact you never play more than 2-3 gms before an off day so you don't have to worry about using a guy too much. You can pretty much use an arm in your pen for 4 innings/2 gms. With Politte, Hermy, Cotts, Marte, & even Shingo coming around I think we match up well with anyone. The last thing you want to do is weaken the defense for offense. So just say no to trading Crede. There is no 3B option available to the White Sox that will give us any more defensively than Joe & his strong arm & quick reflexes put him at the top of the list in turning DP's. That will be even more important in the post. Vizquel 2005 VS LH .238 / .647 VS. RIGHT: .326 / .800 HOME: .273 / .703 AWAY: .326 / .807 plus 37DP .990F% 4.80RF .890ZR Uribe 2005 VS LH .356 / 1.029 VS. RIGHT: .199 / .511 HOME: .191 / .538 AWAY: .284 / .753 plus 38DP .972F% 4.36RF .838ZR Ozuna 2005 VS LH .400 / .888 VS. RIGHT: .216 / .491 HOME: .258 / .539 AWAY: .333 / .776 plus 10DP .977F% 5.30RF .889ZR Vizquel is exactly what we need to shore up SS. He is strong where we are weak. Defensively his DP's are on par with Uribe's & his ZR is the best of the 3. Only 11% of the balls in the SS zone have escaped Vizquel. Believe it or not but take a look at Iguchi's stats (especially his consistency) & he might be the most consistent 2B in MLB this year. No need for Durham or any one else here. Durable to play every game in the post. Position players wise Vizquel vs RH will greatly improve our chances of winning in the post. Which leaves the 64K question. Can we count on El Duque in the post? His performances in post season are legendary. Going to battle in the post season with a healthy El Duque means you have one of the best competitors on the mound today. If the answer is no, then you must trade for a starter better than Contreras. Contreras could not win a 2-1 game like last night if his life depended on it. Yet that is more likely to resemble the games we will see. A team should not go to battle in the post with Contreras expected to start. Which is why KW is holding off on pulling the trigger. No doubt he's talking to Sabean about Vizquel. The question is whether it's to be a package with Schmidt or just Omar. No doubt Sabean likes what the White Sox have to offer more than Baltimore or most others. Our future is riding on El Duque's health & ability to pitch effectively. Our World Series hopes hinge upon the crafty vet. JUG: I just love it when you analyze! Good stuff.
  7. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 28, 2005 -> 08:24 PM) I'm not putting down Buehrle but I gues that doesn't matter to you. I'm not saying what you want to here, I looked at the stats I see Halladay having a better season than one of my alltime favorite players and I feel that the pitcher having the better season should be recognized for that. s***, I would love to see Buerhle start the AS game but I am a huge perponent of having the best player start in the AS game. I guess wanting the best player to be awarded for their play makes me a lesser fan than you huh. This will be my last response to this topic. I understand what you have stated. All I'm saying is after the exciting Buerhle's win, at least let everyone enjoy the win. The first time you mentioned Halladay is better than Buerhle, I just didn't think about it. But then you kept on going about it. To me being a HOMER, that's not right. Of course, you are aware of Buerhle could have easily been 13-1 right now, am I right? Anyway, let's enjoy this win, shall we Kalapse?
  8. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 28, 2005 -> 08:17 PM) Ha, have fun being a damn homer. Atleast I'm honest with myself. Yes, it has something to do with being a DAMN homer. Go ahead and be honest with yourself. Go root for the Jays. See if anyone cares! If you are a fan, you should not put down Buerhle like you've done, especially after his win. I know if you have a choice, you would pick Holladay over Buerhle. Me, without a doubt Buerhle. Go Buerhle...
  9. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 28, 2005 -> 08:00 PM) Check Halladay's wins too. Why should I urge him because he plays on my favorite team? Or because I like the most deserving player to get the knod. Go root for the Jays then Kalapse! Your obsession with Halladay is getting tiring! Everybody else, let's enjoy this win.

    War of the Worlds..

QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 28, 2005 -> 12:49 PM) I hated all the movies he did before Born on the 4th.. but after seeing his performance in it I watched a few of the others and realized that it was a bit difficult to play such a dork. I absolutely loved Minority Report and that one he just did with Jamie Fox (of which I can not recall the name of to save my life here... grrr). I'm looking forward to this one. Moreso because of Dakota Fanning. IMO, she is one hell of a child actress. Collateral is one hell of a movie. I absolutely love that movie. I've watched it over four times! Crazy me! And Tom was good in that movie. Didn't Dakota Fanning star in Man On Fire with Denzel Washington? She is so cute and acts pretty well.
  11. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 28, 2005 -> 10:09 AM) Seriously? I will nut in my pants if you are telling the truth. Would there be a better rotation in baseball than this? Mark Buehrle Jason Schmidt Freddy Garcia Jon Garland Jose Contreras Jabroni: You are so wicked man! Now you got my excitement WAY UP!!! It's going to be painful falling down if things don't work out! I'll kill for that kind of pitching lineup.
  12. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jun 28, 2005 -> 12:28 PM) Anyone know where this game will be at for DirecTV users??? I have DirecTV. I think one of these channels: 639 or 640. I live in Chicago.

    War of the Worlds..

Can you guys tell me the reason why there are a lot of peoples hate Tom Cruise, majority being man? Is it because of his divorce with Nicole Kidman? Is it because of his high-pitched voice? Not only on this site, I've come across a lot of people who do not have the "love" for this man at all! Wonder why? As for me, I will watch the 2005 War of the Worlds on DVD whenever it comes out.
  14. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 27, 2005 -> 01:18 PM) We havn't had a 9 game winning streak all year. We've had three 8 game winning streaks. Am I missing something? My bad. I thought the Friday win was the nineth. I guess I miscalculated!
  15. QUOTE(robinventura23 @ Jun 27, 2005 -> 10:11 AM) Let's go Mark. You'll be back on this exact bump in another week anyway. Possibly, starting. Let's start another 8-gamer. You mean "Let's start another 9-gamer!" GO SOX and Buerhle...
  16. You know when I was first reading this MELTDOWN thread, I was kind of feeling very down. However, after looking at the current standing, I just burst out laughing at my worry and at how much all of us have been spoiled by the Sox's terrific season so far. Man, we are still 9 1/2 games up on the Twins, and the Cubs are still trailing the Cardinals by 8 1/2 games. We are 26 games above .500 and the Cubs 2! What the heck are we worrying about? Ego, pride 'cause we lost this past series to the Cubs? I take the playoff and the eventual WS participation over the winning Cubs series anytime. CHEER UP EVERYONE
  17. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jun 27, 2005 -> 12:33 PM) Both teams should be happy without a doubt. Morse and Reed look like being good players for a long time for the M's, they just have to get Miggy hitting now. And then there's Garcia. Russ Ortiz got over $30 million this off-season. Nuff said. Put it this way. If we still have Olivo, Reed and Morse with the Sox, do you REALLY think the Sox's record would be this good: 50-24? Without Garcia, NO WAY! I take this trade again, again, again and again...
  18. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jun 24, 2005 -> 02:58 PM) WILD PITCH b****ES! 3-1 SOX! Do you see how disruptive Pods is to opposing pitchers? Man, I love Pods!
  19. QUOTE(Texsox @ Jun 24, 2005 -> 11:16 AM) See, they all stay home and read ESPN The Magazine I say THE HELL with ESPN and other experts who are so quick to belittle our beloved White Sox team. Let's win the World Series this year to shut them up! You know, as I look around the entire major league, I haven't seen one team that really can beat us in a 7-game series! That is exciting!!!

    BMAC

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 24, 2005 -> 07:26 AM) She plays Volleyball there IIRC. He has got one proud papa too. Actually Brandon's whole family is really good people. Honestly, I keep on hearing people saying that BMAC will eventually be a good one for our beloved Sox. I have couple questions if you don't mind giving me answers to. 1. How do we know that he's going to be a good one? All I see is his terrible outings so far and his humongous ERA! 2. Since he is a rookie and would need some time to adjust to big league, then how come other rookie pitchers are and were doing much better than he is during their first year? Jerome Williams, D Willis, K Wood, M Prior and etc. I wish that BMAC will get back his ST pitching form. GO SOX...
  21. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 12:56 PM) Caught this guy last night at 8:30 PM on the Rock River at Dixon, Illinois where Reagan grew up. He weighed in at 52 pounds. Enjoy. Man, you call that a fish. This is the FISH!
  22. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jun 14, 2005 -> 08:10 PM) Cotts for Cy Young... I really think it IS time for Cotts to be promoted to take Duque's place. He has been light out lately. Perhaps, sending Duque to the bullpen will help him and our team in a long run. I don't know! We haven't been playing good the past few games.
  23. QUOTE(That funky motion @ Jun 14, 2005 -> 06:35 PM) :banghead Darrin Jackson the jinx! Where's everyone?
  24. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 10:37 AM) Do you share a computer with anyone else? SS2k5: Thanks for your help. No, I do not share my PC with anyone else.
