  1. Yeah, they never get into quantifying psychological or emotional states. Not that they could if they wanted to. So they completely ignore it.
  2. I LUUUUUUUV the Hardball Times!
  3. QUOTE(bighurt2719 @ Oct 3, 2005 -> 10:07 AM) hey, how about beltin' bill melton? No. Too dry. We need someone to offset the moribound Farmer.
  4. And I believe we've lead the league in BA/RISP for the previous 2 or 3 years . . . . by alot!
  5. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 02:51 PM) One of my favorite Bears! He used to be a member of the Bears basketball team that travelled in the winter playing charity games, anyone remember those? Roland Harper was a stud basketball player. So was Sweetness, of course. I DO! I went to a game at my local high school where they played the local Fire Department.
  6. QUOTE(VAfan @ Aug 23, 2005 -> 10:48 AM) So let's get Santana tonight. He's beaten Buehrle twice, but Freddy is going to be tougher. That's an interesting statement. But I'll have to agree right now.
  7. QUOTE(sayitaintso @ Aug 23, 2005 -> 10:44 AM) That's what they did with Buehrle in 2000.
  8. WE'RE GONNA WIN THE WORLD SERIES!!!!!
  9. QUOTE(WSNS-TV44 @ Aug 19, 2005 -> 12:59 PM) HOLD UP THERE! THIS IS ABOUT HIM,NOT ME. I RATHER EAT A ROTTEN EGG OMLET THAN ROOT FOR THE CUBS!!!!! OK then.
  10. QUOTE(WSNS-TV44 @ Aug 19, 2005 -> 10:46 AM) Welcome. Now not all Cub fans are dummies. Some are sick of losing, and wants to see a winning baseball team for a change.Coming over to the South Side is a step in the right direction. You happen to fall into that rare catagory. So were you one of the "smart" Sox fans that were cheering on the cubs in the '03 playoffs. Not me. I was one of the "dumb" ones sporting a Marlins hat!
  11. He's lost to Santana already this year. Let's hope he evens it out.
  12. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 09:39 AM) As much of a Buehrle apologist that I am, this is probably not his fortay. In his two starts against Boston this year, he's gotten rocked. If those aren't a big game, I don't know what is. Therefore, I can't agree with selecting him as the pitcher you'd want in a big game. Although I will end up doing it. Yeah what he said. Buehrle seems to always come up short in big head-to-heads with other "aces". Still an excellent pitcher, but not an "ace" that I would automatically go to for a big game.
  13. QUOTE(sayitaintso @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 11:38 AM) I thought it was a pretty funny article. Me too. The majority on this board never cease to impress me with their levity.
  14. QUOTE(SpringfieldFan @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 10:22 AM) Folks, this is an honest question about an honest concern; I am not trying to stir things up or simply disagree to disagree. So...If Ozzie implements a "rest the regulars" policy so they are not banged up in the playoffs, could it cause them to get rusty by not playing together as often? The infielders (especially the SS and second baseman) need to always be on the same wavelength and always know and anticipate where eachother is. That comes with playing together continuously. I agree, so far it has not been a problem, but what if he decides to rest the regs even more as we go through the hot August stretch run? So my concern: will breaking that up frequently on the stretch drive cause them to lose their "gel" when playing together? Really, this may not be an intelligent concern, but it is an honest one, so set me straight. Not concerned, Springfield. I agree with YASNY and greasywheels.
  15. A more correct analogy would be that no one should have been interested in picking up Frank in 1999.
  16. Borchard is teasing us again down in AAA.
  17. Alot of seriousness for a baseball internet board.
  18. QUOTE(southsideirish @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 01:23 PM) That is how you should state it southsider17. He didn't accuse anyone of anything, he was just asking. That's why I said "careful". Plus it was a serious question.
  19. QUOTE(103 mph screwball @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 01:16 PM) Has there been a noticable change in Lowell's physical size this year? Not accusing anyone of anything, just searching for a reason for his slump and Florida's egerness to trade him. Careful!
  20. QUOTE(southsideirish @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 12:22 PM) Where is the proof of this? I can't stand people that throw names out there with no proof of anything. That is an ugly thing to say about someone and he never fit into that whole thing. Show me some evidence or proof of this. That was said tongue-in-check and it hurts no one since that "rumor" is already out there.
  21. QUOTE(VAfan @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 12:33 AM) Vizquel (and Schmidt) for Uribe (and Contreras) is still the best deal for the Sox, and one SF should make if they also got Anderson, who they could bring up now. THAT is the best trade scenario out there!
  22. Yeah but Contreras didn't just get off the juice.
  23. QUOTE(thelatinoheat_30 @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 10:37 AM) *the interesting part is that he said the sox might again consider using contreras as the closer if they do get burnett. i dunno about that tho cause if he comes into a 1-run games, allows a double, he is so easy to steal off of. if that guy takes third base, and w/ contreras's high amount of wild pitches, i don't think it's a great idea. plus wouldn't it take him longer to warm up since he's used to starting? Thing is, most modern closers are brought in at the beginning of the 9th. I would think Ozzie is smart enough to not bring Contreras in with runners on. Contreras has consistently been at the top of the league in Batting Average Against. If he could stay away from walks he'll be an excellent late inning reliever. And, yes, I realize that's a big "if".
  24. My dad was at the game where Al Smith got doused (game 2).
  25. QUOTE(JimH @ Jul 15, 2005 -> 11:50 AM) No, I like it fine, it just seriously slows down the PC when scrolling thru the posts, no other user avatar does that. Don't know why, but it definitely slows it down big time. I have no problems with it. I have DSL though.
