  1. QUOTE(EvilJester99 @ Jun 13, 2005 -> 06:57 PM) I feel the DH rule should either be IN both or Out of both.. not one or the other...thats just me though. I agree Jester. And once again ............ BRAVO! on the avitar.
  2. QUOTE(Wedge @ Jun 13, 2005 -> 04:19 PM) If you're going on past history, I hate to say it, but Dusty Baker has a tremendous career record and deserves better than 13th. I know. But I just ................. can't ................. do it. :banghead
  3. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jun 13, 2005 -> 03:45 PM) ESPN.Com's sportsnation is running a "Rank the MLB Managers" survey. You can find it...and put Ozzie #1...by Clicking here. Current rankings (top 15) 1. Bobby Cox 2. La Russa 3. Torre 4. Scioscia 5. Frank Robinson 6. Gardenhire 7. Buck Showalter 8. Jack McKeon 9. Ozzie! 10. Terry Francona 11. Sweet Lou 12. Felipe Alou 13. Dusty Baker 14. Bruce Bochy 15. Jim Tracy Oddly enough, I had him 9th as well. Except I put McKeon behind him and Pinella in front of him (I have Gardenhire and Cox 1 & 2). I luv Ozzie but he still needs to build up a track record. So far so good.
  4. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jun 13, 2005 -> 10:12 AM) Just curious, what does this thread happen to do with "Ryno"? Is this Ryne Sandburg's column or something? I'm guessing yes.
  5. I think this year's starters compare to '93. 2000 was kind of a fluke year.
  6. QUOTE(ScottPodRulez22 @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 03:33 PM) Doesnt the twins play the brewers 6 times while we play the cubs. I don't see a clear advantage either way.
  7. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 12:30 PM) That swing on Sunday was a very wierd swing solely because it was one hell of a difficult pitch to get to. It was inside and he couldn't get extended on it at all. He had to hold his weight back in order to put a decent swing on the ball, and the ball simply jumped because of his arm strength. I've seen Frank do that same swing for home runs a few dozen times in his career. That's how he looks when he drives an inside pitch out to left. As far as I've been able to tell, his swing looks pretty normal to me. I don't have as many cameras on it as the hitting coaches do, but he looked a lot like the old Frank. Well, I hope that's it then.
  8. QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 12:20 PM) Ok, switch the injury to the other foot and he wouldn't even be able to swing. OK. The right foot is key to his batting at all, but the left foot is key to his power.
  9. QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 12:09 PM) His right leg is key, since it is his plant foot...that leg wasn't injured. Not true. He finishes his swings with all his weight on the left (front) foot usually.
  10. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 12:08 PM) Watch Franks swing and tell me how much of it is dependant on his legs. Funny that you should mention that. I was watching the replay of his HR against the Toons and I noticed that when he was completing his follow thru, he still seemed to have his rear foot planted on the ground which is not usually the case, especially after he just tee'd off on one. That would indicate (to me) that he's still forced to hold back a bit to compensate for any discomfort in his healing ankle. I think he'll be very up an down for awhile unless he get's to play full time. And even then it will take some time for him to get his "groove" back.
  11. QUOTE(JimH @ Jun 5, 2005 -> 08:44 AM) Interesting thoughts. We'll have to see how it plays out. Sometimes things have a way of working themselves out, what's a problem today could be resolved by other factors in a moment's notice. That a very Jedi-ish attitude.
  12. He seems to be a good clutch hitter ..... and that's it. He's very slow and his fielding sucks.
  13. QUOTE(wilmot825 @ Jun 3, 2005 -> 02:09 PM) ... and by the way Crede has amazing defense. And Chavez is even better. So is Randa.
  14. Then perhaps my memory has failed me, Santo=dorf.
  15. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jun 3, 2005 -> 02:02 PM) .... he creams a first pitch fastball from crappy pitchers. End of story. Exactly the type of pitchers he regularly faced in minor league ball.
  16. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jun 3, 2005 -> 01:58 PM) and Rick Hahn said that Reed was not on KW's "3 year board." I remember that. The radio report (I can't remember which station) was quoting Kenny saying that Reed and someone else (probably Borchard) were "untouchable".
  17. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jun 3, 2005 -> 01:55 PM) Borchard was the untouchable one, not Reed. That's not what I heard on the radio last year.
  18. I say Randa would be a better deal. He'd cost alot less and is also an improvement over Crede, defensively (similar FLD% but much better range) and offensively (similar power numbers but much better BA and OBP).
  19. QUOTE(Whitesoxfan56 @ Jun 3, 2005 -> 09:20 AM) You can never have enough pitching, so I would vote for any kind of pitcher, reliver: lefty or righty, or even a starter, and then move someone the the pen. Offensive deficiencies are obvious. but we have some key players who are underperforming their career averages. The recent losses seem to be situations where either the bullpen has blown it or Ozzie has left the starters in too long (not pitch count-wise but rather after it was apparent that they just didn't have it that day).
  20. QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 3, 2005 -> 08:29 AM) Making a move for Eric Chavez, on the other hand... THREAD POLICE!!!!
  21. QUOTE(marsh @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 03:06 PM) oh, ok. If I remember correctly we traded one of our recent first rounders to the Mets. The college closer dude. Royce Ring
  22. QUOTE(Hideaway Lights @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 01:44 PM) I guess we're finding out who's capable of debating a topic and who's capable of posting images good to know Assuming health but taking into account level of play this year I say the Sox are better, mainly because Patterson is playing like crap, as was Nomar (Neifi would be on the bench assuming good health throughout), Zambrano has been inconsistent and their managing has been worse than ours.
  23. QUOTE(Cubs Suck23 @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 11:51 AM) Im totally shocked that reinsdorf will add 10 mil to our payroll... It won't be a full $10 mil for this year. Plus you'll be subtracting a portion of Crede's salary. And next year they'll just use Konerko's money. Financially it makes total sense.
  24. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jun 2, 2005 -> 11:55 AM) Dont get me wrong, I like posting on WXing. But when it became a pay site it was hard to jump on the game discussions and even harder to argue your point for a period of time. I still put my 2 cents in when it applies Both sites have definite strengths.
