QUOTE(RockRaines @ Mar 14, 2006 -> 03:07 PM) Did he forget how to hit? He's looked much, much better since going back to his regular approach. Had a couple hard hit balls lately that have kept his hits off the board. Looks much better though. -

QUOTE(fathom @ Mar 14, 2006 -> 12:45 PM) Something scarier is the idea of Logan coming in to face Travis Hafner on opening night in the 6th inning. If our second lefty faces Hafner on opening night that means that Buerhle likely got hurt or sucked and it wouldn't matter anyway.

QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Mar 14, 2006 -> 12:41 PM) with good reason. You won't find a single player in major league history with his minor league resume both make a contending team out of camp and succeed off the bat. My question is, why give his three innings of Cactus League ball so much weight? He's got a full 5 innings of getting roughed up at Low-A Kannapolis -- Almost twice as many innings I'm not at all. It really doesn't matter to me who the second lefty is. If they are lefty and have mediocre stuff and throw strikes, I don't care who they pick. But it seems to me Ozzie is seriously considering it if he dominates during the spring. And it's funny to see the reactions when Ozzie says stuff like that. Just an interesting topic.

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Mar 14, 2006 -> 11:55 AM) I'd keep him around specifically--if only for one batter--to challenge certain hitters. Or place him in pressure situations. More than 15 games remain in Spring Training. No need to send Logan down to the minors just yet. They definitely won't send him down anywhere yet because he was just "officially" invited to big league camp today. Before he was in minor league camp throwing in "A" games. I imagine he'll be around til the end of spring, and if he dominates, Ozzie is the type of guy who will take him. I love this topic. Nothing scarier to people than a 21-yr old getting a roster spot when he hasn't pitched above A ball.

QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Mar 13, 2006 -> 10:10 PM) Yes, there would be -- the crappy second lefties. With Hermanson looking to be injured, we now we have two potential bullpen holes. How many other teams in the MLB do you think would love to have that as their only holes. Seriously. The last two guys out of your bullpen as your only holes.

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Mar 13, 2006 -> 09:44 PM) KW did win the WS, that doesn't mean everything he does is gold. Vizcaino was a punching bag on this board last year. I make it even money that neither Politte or Hermanson put up better numbers than he did last year. Please don't call me dude. You mean you don't think Politte is going to post an ERA in the 1's this year? Something only 5 relievers in the AL with over 30 IP did last year? Way to go out on a limb. My point is KW knows exactly what is going on with this bullpen. Exactly what he can afford to trade and who for. Exactly what he is doing. Certainly moreso than anybody on this board does.

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Mar 13, 2006 -> 09:36 PM) I sent Ozzie a couple of emails last year. He responded to one, but the one asking if he and Harold would buy me and my buddy some beers went unanswered. You can try to insult me, but I have been talking about bullpen problems since before the winter meetings. KW said at Soxfest the bullpen was strong. He was either BSing or drunk. I'm not insulting you. I was being serious. Obviously you know something that KW doesn't and he needs to be informed as soon as possible. I mean, what the heck is he doing out there? He's acting like he just put together a team that won the world series. Seriously dude. I'm pretty sure KW has a pretty good handle on things, no matter what you have been talking about.

I'm posting this again just in case anybody thought I was posting a link to Logan's profiles or stats. It's a chisox.com story on teh bullpen. Story

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Mar 13, 2006 -> 09:29 PM) He should stop wasting his time looking internally. There is nothing there that can help in 2006. I am still trying to figure out the Munoz outrighting. Even gutless, he is just as good or better than the other dopes they throw out there. You should write him an email and let him know what you think. Or Ozzie's hotmail account. Maybe one of his sons will send your message along.

QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Mar 13, 2006 -> 09:27 PM) I was just playin with you, man. I know. Just clearing it up.
-
QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Mar 13, 2006 -> 09:20 PM) Kill yourself Again. I was only posting a story showing what Ozzie thought of the kid. He's officially coming to big league camp tomorrow. The other thing was from KW, who doesn't appear as worried as Ozzie and COop, but is always looking for options, internally and externally.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Mar 13, 2006 -> 09:19 PM) Ugh. The guy pitches like three good innings and he's friggin' Billy Wagner. Sorry for speaking in hyperbole, but c'mon. This guy has pitched 131 minor league innings of a 6.10 ERA, and hasn't even pitched TEN innings at A-ball, yet is supposed to come in and be on a World Series title defending ballclub? GMAB. Too much is made of these Spring Training statistics. Then again, it happens every year. Remember the great Kevin Walker of 2005 Tuscon? I was only posting a story about Logan and the bullpen. Ozzie said he'll go with whoever gets the job done. It wasn't my opinion on who should go where. PS. Walker sucked last year in ST, like everybody else except Buerhle on our staff.

Box also shows Boone Logan went 2 IP giving up only a hit and a walk. We need to give him some more innings. Here is the full box Box

QUOTE(ottawa_sox @ Mar 13, 2006 -> 05:06 PM) Even better, if true - I think Liotta has a greater upside. The Oakland announcers made no mention of Phillips. It wouldn't surprise me. Oakland's announcer was awful. He didn't know what the hell was going on.
-
QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Mar 13, 2006 -> 04:56 PM) True, but it would also be nice to see these young guys get other young guys out. Sure it would. But I'm not worried about it when it doesn't.
-
QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Mar 13, 2006 -> 04:54 PM) LOL, well that sucks. Not really. THis is what happens when you play your kids so much in ST. Especially at the end of games. I don't mind it. See what they have. But you gotta expect losses.
-
I feel sorry for A's fans. Their radio guy is terrible.
-
Going to the top of the 9th. 8-7 Sox.
-
QUOTE(fathom @ Mar 13, 2006 -> 02:50 PM) Do we typically have this many crappy pitchers on our roster going in the spring training games? yep. our ST ERA was terrible last year. DOesn't help that Freddy and Javier are gone either.
-
Mack with a 1 out double.
-
Haeger gives up 2 runs. He won't be in big league camp much longer
