  1. QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ Sep 25, 2009 -> 08:47 PM) We have no idea what our set-up relief pitching is going to look like yet for next season. Give Kenny a chance to work on it over the winter before you throw down with the negative outlook on things. I don't usually take KW at face value with what he says, but I don't think he has a lot of money and he has a whole lot of s*** to fix.
  2. If Thornton is our closer, he prolly won't have many games to save with the way our setup would likely come together
  3. Whoever wins is going to have their season end in less than a week following the season, so it doesn't matter all that much to me.
  4. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Sep 23, 2009 -> 10:13 PM) I understand that Getz isn't the end all and be all, but the Nix for starter crew needs to dive into the numbers a bit more. Jayson Nix cannot hit right handed pitching, you know the predominant hand of the average starting pitcher. If anything, a platoon might appear again. Jayson needs to prove he can hit right handers before we proclaim him a starter. .210BA/.308OBP/.663 OPS against righties. Nor can he hit with RISP. If Jason Nix is our fulltime starter next year we're screwed. We could be screwed anyway, but still

Ugh, It looks so nice when I type it.
  6. QUOTE (beck72 @ Sep 19, 2009 -> 02:17 PM) Two guys who should pitch in late inning set up should be Carrasco and Dan Hudson. With the sox bringing back Freddy, Hudson would be a good late inning option. So you are cool with going into the season as Carrasco and Hudson as your main setup guys? I can't say I agree. And then who is the primary guy against lefties? Randy Williams?
  7. Who the f*** is gonna pitch in the bullpen? Thornton and who? Everybody else that we have sucks. Jenks has at least shown that he can be solid at times. Unless you want Linebring and Pena as primary setup men. If thats what you want, go ahead and trade Jenks. Any trade we did for Jenks would have to bring back and good setup man.
  8. Alex Rios sucks. As well as JD and Bobby just so everybody knows im giving equal time. But seriously. Rios is just awful.
  9. QUOTE (joeynach @ Sep 17, 2009 -> 01:30 PM) “If we do that we won’t go into slumps like we did this year. We’re not going to be in a slump because someone will do something to break it up. We won’t have to wait for the big boys to wake up all season long. You learn from it, and hopefully we continue to improve.’’ -Ozzie Gullien Thats says it all right there. Its something most of us have been griping about, too much reliance an the old life and pull sluggers which sometimes dont slug for extended periods. Thats what leads to the anemic offense. Well, it was ok when they were slugging a lot and hitting 35-40 homers a year. The problem si that they aren't really sluggin at all anymore.
  10. I haven't read any posts but I imagine people missed what Ozzie said in the article. He said there would be more bunting practice in Spring Training, not more bunting in games. That's not to say that there won't be more bunting in games next year, that's just not what Ozzie said in the article, as the title and first post intimates.
  11. It is amazing to have 2 players playing as bad as JD and Rios are on one team.
  12. Man. If only we could somehow get Nix to pretend that nobody is on base when he hits. I think Rios goes up to the plate knowing he's gonna make an out. It's just embarassing to watch at this point.
  13. Nix is good for a HR now and then, but he is terrible with RISP
  14. QUOTE (League @ Sep 12, 2009 -> 09:23 PM) We could very well be within 1 or 2 by the time Detroit comes to town with the way the two teams have been playing lately. Imagine if our players that are hitting .100 the last couple of months start helping Pods and Becks!
  15. 5. I think it would be fun if we could somehow get it to 3 back when Det comes into town.
  16. QUOTE (iamshack @ Sep 12, 2009 -> 06:23 PM) You just had to get that in there, didn't you? Did Rios steal your girlfriend or something? Well thats been my whole problem. I'm worried about not having money to address what we need to address.
  17. QUOTE (son of a rude @ Sep 12, 2009 -> 06:19 PM) So we should pay jenks 9m? Better than paying Rios 10.
  18. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Sep 12, 2009 -> 06:17 PM) Jenks should not be offered arbitration this offseason. Yah! Let's have Tony Pena close!
  19. Thornton f***s it up and gets them back in the game. Jenks has to go 2 and complete the deal.
  20. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 12, 2009 -> 05:45 PM) There's no way they will ever get to the playoffs in 2010 with Matt Thornton as the closer. You can't get away with one pitch in that role. Trading Bobby Jenks would be the worst thing this team could do this offseason.
  21. QUOTE (santo=dorf @ Sep 12, 2009 -> 05:13 PM) Wrong thread/not chat oh word, good call. Wouldn't want all the posting that is going on to be pushed off the page before somebody else could post...
  22. I think my football team may be the worst D1-A team in the history of football.
  23. JD has 0 rbi in 27 ABs in September. That is hard to do. I think he feels bad for Rios.
