Royals signed OF Scott Podsednik to a one-year, $1.75 million contract with a $2 million club option for 2011. ARE YOU f***ING KIDDING ME??! AND NOW WE HAVE JUAN f***ING PIERRE!?!?! SERIOUSLY!?!?!?!?!?!?!??!?

I can't wait to see Jason Nix with a DH next to his name.

QUOTE (flavum @ Dec 30, 2009 -> 12:27 PM) Yeah, we don't want Vlad..or at least I don't. He's declining at an alarming rate. He can't play the field. He can't run. It would be worse than just signing Thome, and I don't want that either. I'm almost beginning to think the right thing to do is just stand pat and see what develops in the first half with Jones and Kotsay getting the AB's. Then make a move or two before July 31. Whatever move that needs to be--starting pitcher, bullpen, another hitter. If we go in with the offense we have right now, it is very likely that we won't be in it on July 31. It's a possibility of course, all these guys could have career years, but it isn't very likely. We have a very very bad offense right now.

QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Dec 22, 2009 -> 10:03 AM) They will get a very good pitcher, if it goes through A very good pitcher when the games don't matter. Unfortunately lots of games usually matter for the Yanks. -
I'm not ready to call it a failure either, but there is a strong chance that his contract hurts us over the next several years. It has obviously already hurt us for this year and getting a DH.
-
KW is counting on way too many bounce back years.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 15, 2009 -> 05:39 PM) At this point, I'd rather have your boy Nix at DH than a combo of Kotsay/Jones. All of the above would be apart of the worst offense in the AL. Hell, even if we get a decent DH we could be one of the worst offenses.
-
Hey, at least we have Alex Rios in CF.
-
QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Dec 15, 2009 -> 12:45 PM) this could be the end of the offseason for kw and if it is id like to see 1. Pierre LF 2. Becks 2b 25HR 3. Rios CF 25HR 4. CQ RF/DH 30HR 5. Kong 1B 30HR 6. AJP C 10HR 7. Jones RF/DH 25HR 8. Teahan 3B 20HR 9. Ramirez SS 20HR get 15 homers from the bench and you got your 200 homers to go along with a pretty good staff LOL. Alex Rios sure as hell ain't hittin 25 HR. Most of those are huge reaches. Our pitching staff better be 2005 stellar cause our offense is gonna suck.

Ugh. That's all I got. Ugh

I don't think any Blue Jays fans are upset that they got out of that 10 mil a year contract.

QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Dec 14, 2009 -> 06:15 PM) This is what I've been saying all along. 88 wins and first round exit, here we come! It'd be a small miracle if that offense made the playoffs.

LOL

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 14, 2009 -> 05:35 PM) A Cy Young Award winner and an all star that is on the right side of 30. I'd call those pretty darn good moves for an off-season. Sure, Kenny has more things to do, but to ignore what happened at the deadline would be a mistake. Those moves were made a lot more for 2010 and beyond than they were for 2009. I'm sorry but Alex Rios is a long way from an All Star. He's making $10 million with a .247 .296 .395 .691 line. He wouldn't get anywhere near that money if he was a free agent this year.
-
QUOTE (Heads22 @ Dec 14, 2009 -> 05:25 PM) ding ding ding Peavy and Rios were our offseason pickups. Then that is a very mediocre offseason. One really good and one really bad. Especially considering how bad we need offense.
-
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 14, 2009 -> 05:18 PM) Take posts with a grain of salt when EVERY offseason is the worst ever. KW is working on a bat, which one is yet to be seen. he better be working on 2

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Dec 14, 2009 -> 03:19 PM) I'd wager that Andruw Jones is the more likely party at this point. Don't say that. Please please don't say that
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 14, 2009 -> 03:11 PM) People keep giving you a hard time, but it's really disappointing how much Rios' contract could be hampering our chances at signing other valuable pieces. I agree with you that Matsui would have been a pefect fit, and 6.5 million isn't a lot. I put a warning on it! I'm just really scared that we could possibly waste what could be an awesome staff. I mean, it's not like we have just 1 offensive spot to fill. We ahve our highest avg and highest OPS to fill off of our aready s***ty offensive team.
-
Please ignore this post. It has lots of hyperbole and frustration. LOL. Vlads? Thome? Try Mark Kotsay. And the worst Sox offense of all time. Ugh. I really wanted Matsui bad. But hey, we have Alex Rios at 10 mil a year.
-
We certainly better be planning on using that money on two really good offensive players. Otherwise we have a lot of money locked up in the wrong player(s)
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 11, 2009 -> 01:56 PM) That's a lot of money if they think they can't count on him for 2010. Yah, Why would you give him 3 mil on a 1 year deal if you aren't counting on him. It's not like its a 3 yr and we're hoping he'll be awesome at the end.
-
If Rios isn't in center field he has next to no value. Certainly not at 10 mil a year
-
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 10, 2009 -> 10:21 AM) Did they trade him? I thought he was a FA pickup by the Pirates I thought I saw that they got Chavez for Iwamura.
