If f***ing Orlando Hudson goes to the f***ing Twins I'm going to flip out.
-
I dont think it'd matter if Damon wanted to come here and KW had money to pay him. I think Ozzie wants Jones/Kotsay to be his DH outfield help/rotation.

Sox not adding a LH bat; looking at relief, Damon?

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jan 30, 2010 -> 08:45 PM) You sure? Because that question is just a little TOO random. Sure you're not trying to see if Wise's metrics are on the plus side? Then you can say we could've just left him in CF for a lot less money than what we're paying Rios? Anyway, you can go to fangraphs to find what you're looking for. Even with Rios' awful numbers he was still overall better than Wise with the bat. I don't want Wise back. I was just curious. -

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jan 30, 2010 -> 08:33 PM) I already know where you're going with that question. I want to know...did Alex Rios do something to you? I mean really. This level of hate is not healthy. You can't possibly be insinuating that you'd rather have Wise in CF over Rios? I wasn't going anywhere with that. I was just watching some highlights from last year (not 'the catch') and was just wondering what the D metrics said about him. -

This is kinda random, but how good was D-Weezy in center field? What did the metrics say about him? -
This sucks

Hey fathom we're 'partners' in the negativity realm! Who'd have thunk it! He should go back and read some threads from 05 and 06. Maybe I should too. I hate what Ozzie and KW have turned me into

QUOTE (b-Rye @ Jan 25, 2010 -> 10:45 PM) Really? Dewayne Wise last year? Getz rookie year last year? Josh Fields? Jermaine Dye - Alex Rios Josh Fields - Gordon Beckham Chris Getz - Mark Teahen Paul Konerko - PK A.J. Pierzynski - AJ Carlos Quentin - Healthy CQ Alexei Ramirez - Alexei Jim Thome - Jones Dewayne Wise - Pierre Defense will be WAY better, OBP will be better, faster, and no more 3/4/5/6 station to station of CQ/PK/Dye/Thome. I'm not too thrilled about Teahen, but hopefully he can put up solid avg and will stay healthy compared to Getz. OF defense is way better (Wise was good, but Pods sucked.). This team needs change, and its getting it... though I'd rather of brought in Orlando Hudson and Damon over Teahen/Jones/Kotsay, but I'm not GM. Our offense was bad even when we got Pods and Beckham up.
-
Somebody better be accountable for this bulls*** when we have the worst offense in the league. I haven't felt this bad about a team pre-season starting since before 2000. Our offense is going to be THAT bad
-
LOL. I hope he goes to the Twins and hits 800 billion home runs.
-
We aren't signing Damon or Delgado or anybody else. It's either Thome or Jones, Kotsay and Nix. Take your pick.
-
QUOTE (fathom @ Jan 22, 2010 -> 01:47 PM) I look forward to seeing Thome swing and miss at every high fastball that is thrown at him by Thornton Is that before or after he hits the GW 3-run HR?
-
I can remember when KW talked about Jones and Kotsay as bench players. And now they are part of the DH. Awesome.

QUOTE (Ranger @ Jan 18, 2010 -> 02:20 PM) The bullpen is most certainly not in as bad a shape as you're making it sound. They're actually in pretty good shape, and with their rotation, the pen shouldn't factor in as much as it did last year anyway. Everything else in your post is doomsday stuff. Not worth freaking out over it. No they don't. They just need guys to perform at their normal abilities. Buster Olney isn't paying attention. Their bench got older, but who cares? It's a bench, and they're all signed on 1-year deals. More than 60% of the everyday players are under 30. LOL. Those "bench players" could end up starting a bunch of games unfortunately.

2010 offense is going to be bad, even with some bounce back years. It is 2006 by a mile.
-
If we go into this season with Andruw Jones/Mark Kotsay as our DH because Ozzie doesn't want a 'full-time' DH he better be gone if we don't make the playoffs. And this is from one of his biggest backers. I can't imagine KW would actually listen to him tho.
-
f*** YES. .184 .262 .382 in 76 ABS!! Let's see how awful we can make this offense KW!!! WOOOOO!!!!

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 11, 2010 -> 08:00 PM) And a move like that handcuffed us from doing something else in the middle of the season, such as trading for a Cy Young winner... I would much rather us have someone help us for a whole season, rather than 2 months.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jan 11, 2010 -> 06:43 PM) What happened to jphat? He's turned into a combination of fathom/tito. He was so optimistic before that Hawk had to tell him to dial it down. What is wrong with me!?!?! I just have a bad feeling about the Pierre, Rios, Teahen signings/trades. And I really can't explain it. It's just an ominous feeling. Here's to hoping they all have career years. I'll be back and positive and thinking Teahen will slug .480 come the start of Spring Training. It's just frustrating to see Nick Johnson get 5.75 mil while we are giving similar to Juan Pierre and Mark Teahen

QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Jan 11, 2010 -> 03:54 PM) The problem is that I don't think Kenny shopped for all these bargains like the fans are giving him credit for. Pedro Feliz signed for 1 year, $4.5M. Teahen gets about $2.75M from us this year plus another $4.75M in 2011 and $5.5M in 2012. I'd rather have Feliz if we wanted to move Beckham to 2B. If we wanted to keep Beckham at 3B, Polanco signed for $17.5M through 2012 including his buyout, and that was also seen as a bad contract by some, but at least Polanco is seriously clutch. After the Royals' payments, we're paying Teahen $12M over the same span. And even better yet, Hudson is still out there and could sign for a whole lot less guaranteed than Polanco did on a 1-year deal. Then as far as Pierre goes, Winn is going to sign for less. Pods signed for a lot less. Gardner and Melky Cabrera were both still on the market making little. We didn't HAVE to give Juan Pierre all that money, but we did. Makes no sense to me at all. The defensive value his brings is hurt by his arm, and I just can't see him drawing walks at the rate he did in the NL last year, or getting as many hits as his NL career would suggest in a smaller park. I think we basically could have gotten better players for less money without committing to them for 2011 at all, and we probably could have worked in a team option for a cheap price too. Meanwhile Matsui signed a 1-year deal for $6.5M and the Yankees got Nick Johnson for 1 year, $5.75M, both lefty DH's that we could very much use. We apparently weren't players on either since we had spent 4 dimes of our 50 cents on a bunch of marginal role players plus JJ Putz. Kenny wasted his money. I hope I'm wrong, though. You say all that really well. I hope this isn't an offseason that haunts us.

QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 10, 2010 -> 12:07 PM) i have a feeling we'll be regretting not signing Vlad. You mean you don't think Jones and Kotsay match Vlads production?

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jan 8, 2010 -> 07:05 PM) This has been said more than once already, but to make it clear: It is almost absolutely certain that his demands were much higher until most or all of the suitors went in an alternative direction. THIS IS NOT WHAT THE PRICETAG WAS WHEN KENNY WAS NEGOTIATING WITH HIM Ok, sorry. I think we all understand that. KW should have waited out and used the 4.5 mil that he wasted on Pierre to get us a decent DH and then tried to wait out on Pods.
-
QUOTE (spawn @ Jan 8, 2010 -> 05:37 PM) You don't really believe that Pods turned down that offer from KW do you? My guess is, Pods wanted at least a 2 year deal for more money,so KW traded for Pierre. Now Pods finds the market for his services shrinking, so had to take a deal somewhere for less than he was asking. I would think that KW would've jumped at the chance to sign Pods for what KC just signed him for. Of course not. KW didn't wait and he ended up losing and now we have one of the worst offenses in the majors and Andrew Jones as our DH.

.304 .353 .412 = $1.75 mil .308 .365 .392 = $4.5 mil WHAT!?
-
Royals signed OF Scott Podsednik to a one-year, $1.75 million contract with a $2 million club option for 2011. ARE YOU f***ING KIDDING ME??! AND NOW WE HAVE JUAN f***ING PIERRE!?!?! SERIOUSLY!?!?!?!?!?!?!??!?
