Another Movie Theatre Shooting
QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Aug 6, 2015 -> 04:36 PM) the proliferation of guns in the first place also makes it more likely that these dangerous situations happen in the first place Right, there is a moral element to not carrying a gun, in refusing to participate in the 'arms race'.

Another Movie Theatre Shooting
QUOTE (Brian @ Aug 5, 2015 -> 04:09 PM) Had a gun and a hatchet. Guess we should try and control hatchets now! Hahahaha smh Interestingly enough, turns out he did not have a gun, but an air soft pellet gun, a hatchet, and pepper spray. Nobody died (except himself) but there was one "superficial" arm injury. Your joke was hilarious though.

2015-2016 NFL Thread
QUOTE (knightni @ Aug 6, 2015 -> 06:48 AM) There's speculation that Kevin White has been running and playing on shin splints since his last year of college. That's why he's been struggling so much. He's overworked his shins and didn't take the time to rest them. Makes sense, glad they are resting him then.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 6, 2015 -> 10:14 AM) Sucks about Adolfo and Brennan both getting hurt. Love what the Z's are doing in AZL. They are the first names I look for now.

2015-2016 NFL Thread
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Aug 5, 2015 -> 12:15 PM) Unconfirmed, but it appears Ola might have torn his ACL. Tough loss as he is a very versatile backup on the oline. Nothing confirmed but he was carted off the field and was helped off by two teammates. Dickerson is who is indicating a potentially torn ACL. Tough loss, but I read yesterday on Twitter (and I don't even remember hwo from so this is good info) that he was really struggling in the new blocking scheme and was likely to be cut.

The White Sox complete Rebuild Discussion Thread
QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Aug 5, 2015 -> 01:19 PM) The spending has been the absolute least of their problems IMO. This isn't the Red Sox FO throwing hundreds of millions at replacement level players. Even this "all in" push resulted in the loss of (I believe) a 3rd round pick and the only "untradeable" contract is LaRoche and his 20 million or so over the next two years isn't crippling anything. The problem has been their arguably league worst ability to develop above replacement position players in house and properly evaluate talent to bring in both through trades and FA. The scouting and player development are two sides of the same coin and they are both utter horse s***. 2nd and 3rd round.

The Democrat Thread
No one really. The Obama administration and the 2010/2014 midterms really killed the dem field. Obama admin because they plucked a lot of governors into their admin and then lost the seats. Dems put a lot of fame behind Castro which was dumb, as he had no powerbase in his homestate to move into national office. Seems like many of the dem darlings could not consolidate power in the elections.

The White Sox complete Rebuild Discussion Thread
Even with the most recent spade of losses, I'm less concerned than I was that we need to start over. In June, it looked like every young piece we had was a bust. Eaton was terrible, Sanchez couldn't hit, Micah couldn't field, Davidson was garbage again, Anderson was only hitting singles. Davidson sucks, but everyone else has shown up. We still have huge question marks in the outfield, which is ridiculous considering the amount of resources we put into OF drafting for years, but we still need to get really lucky on someone to be an allstar rather than just a starter.

8/4 - Rays at White Sox
QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Aug 4, 2015 -> 07:55 PM) Still has a 745 OPS. Yeah, everything is an upgrade, but he also has a -1 Drs. Don't want a declining fielder from ages 31-35

worse loss of the year
QUOTE (shysocks @ Aug 4, 2015 -> 12:48 PM) Pile on Avi time! There are 159 qualifying hitters in MLB. Avisail Garcia is 152nd in Zone%, or percentage of pitches thrown to him that are in the strike zone. He is 2nd in Swing%, or percentage of pitches thrown to him that he swings at. Not a good combination. Nobody throws him strikes because he'll just hack away at anything. He had actually started to show progress on that last year, but it's completely fallen apart. Great stuff, thanks.

worse loss of the year
His pitch selection is just embarrassing. Pick any spot out of the zone and throw it to him 4-5 times. He may hold off 1-2 times, but he'll swing at the rest of em. Ugh, Carlos at bat in the 9th was so impressive too. I really am impressed with him.

worse loss of the year
QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Aug 4, 2015 -> 11:09 AM) The Shark getting blasted for 9 run and Sale getting blasted and a bullpen that can't seem to hold onto a lead. Robertson is really scuffling and I wonder if it's confidence lost or more? Relief pitchers have fragile egos. Last night was a heartbreaker. I wouldn't have sent Ramirez and MLB network showed the play and pointed out Ramirez broke back to second to make sure the ball didn't get caught. Once he did that McEwing should have held him. Aggressiveness can work to your advantage and against you too. This one didn't go our way. Carlos Sanchez almost tied it anyway with that liner to right. The kid has really started to show some promise with the bat. With all the bad we have seen since our 7 game winning streak this team is still only 3 1/2 out of the wild card At the time I was so mad at how poorly ramirez played that, but I had to remember that Laroch was at bat. There would have been a shift that may have put the SS right there.

Nick Hostetler Promoted to Director of Amateur Scouting
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 4, 2015 -> 10:01 AM) Technically winning is going to hurt the system more as well, I am guessing most aren't opposed to that. Not as much as losing 2 early round picks and the affects it has on the pool.

Nick Hostetler Promoted to Director of Amateur Scouting
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 4, 2015 -> 09:51 AM) As long as it isn't hurting spending on the draft and internationally, it isn't hurting anything. Well, i'd argue the Melky/Robertson signings did do just that.

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Aug 4, 2015 -> 09:36 AM) Kind of like Sale, Rodon, and Fulmer huh? Don't speak about things you have no clue about. I wouldn't pull the Fulmer card just yet.

Nick Hostetler Promoted to Director of Amateur Scouting
I like how you were mad when you thought Laumann was promoted, and then stayed mad even after you learned he was basically pushed aside into a smaller role, and are still mad.
