QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 28, 2015 -> 09:48 AM) With the veterans we brought in, we need less prospects to hit then we did in 2013 and 2014. Are you sure? Avi looks like he's not an OFer, are we banking on Hawkins? Are we going to go with a power deficit of Saladino-Sanchez-micah in the infield? Catcher for future? Doesn't seem like we have plugged much.

QUOTE (Condor13 @ Jul 28, 2015 -> 09:39 AM) I love all the talk about our f***ed up front office but I'll return to the topic. At this point in time I would not trade Shark unless somehow you could package him for Bautista, Puig, or CarGo. This is just my opinion. I really wanted Hoffman, not sure there's anyone on Giants I'm that thrilled with. The thought of having both Hoffman and Rodon from that draft was thrilling.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 28, 2015 -> 09:32 AM) And their talented guys are still here. Semien was expendable. I really liked Bassitt but he was expendable. Ravelo is a 1b/DH with little power. They really haven't given up the future for the present at all. I see many posts saying trading Q and his team friendly contract for a hitter is a must. What I don't understand is everything you want to believe the Sox have don't correctly, you say Hahn did a great job. Anything you disagree with, well that had to be that idiot KW. Reality doesn't work that way. Dick, you have to stop doing this. It's nonsense. You can't pull any random post from any poster to support a post and claim hypocrisy on who you are talking to. I do think that KW's hard-headedness after 2010 put this team in bad straits for moving forward. I do NOT think that KW is the right GM for this team right now. I think he would have been great to take over the Padres/Toronto, teams that need to go for it. But we need someone who is calm and patient, and Hahn seems like that guy! But to me his moves have GOT to hit, and if we cleaned house after this year to start over I wouldn't say he was treated unfairly.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 28, 2015 -> 09:23 AM) The young talent is still being allowed to rebuild. Sure, I agree. but we are still hoping that every.single.prospect. hits. We do not have the depth, which is why it hurts to not exploit an asset with little long-term value (samardjiza), that could add talent to the system. It just minimizes risk. But hey, things are looking good if Saladino/Sanchez show they can hang.
-
People seem to be really down on Rodon. If you have any trust for our player development, put it in our pitching team to get a pitcher with great stuff to harness his control.
-
Dick, many people believe Sox needed to stay patient and rebuild their young talent. Hahn has done a good job of that. JR/KW have shown to be aggressive and pushed up that timeline. We thought Hahn did so without compromising long-term talent. Turned out to be worst of both worlds. But if you believe in being patient, then you will be against the KW model (right now). Not hard to grasp.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 28, 2015 -> 09:04 AM) On this board this winter when moves were made, one post I replied to said if there was ever a question who was in charge, that was put by the boards. Hahn was his own man. I actually pointed out trading prospects for a free agent to be seemed not unlike something that would be considered a KW move, but was quickly shot down. Hahn received a ton a praise all winter on here, and as soon as the team flopped, they flipped from Hahn acquisitions to KW acquisitions. If Rick Hahn has zero responsibility for any of the moves the past 3 seasons that have blown up in the White Sox face, then, if he had any pride, he would move along. That is simply not the case. I 100% believe that Hahn was pushed into accelerating into being competitive this season by JR/Kenny. The moves, I still think are Hahn. But the strategy was not.
-
Reyes was truly awful at SS, probably as bad as any defensive player on sox.
-
I don't think people give Hahn a pass, but we had 13 years of watching Kenny operate largely independently, and 3 years now of Hahn...where we don't really know. So when we look at the moves, there are moves that feel like KW moves. And the worst flaw of KW was shortsightedness...and losing out on a potential dynamite arm (but we don't know) of Hoffman for 6 years in exchange for going for it when still under 500 at the end of July just seems like KW.
-
Buckets info was a bombshell. Not sure what to think anymore.
-
Moving Anderson for TUlo... 2 years ago I"d have wet my pants...but it feels like getting a broke down nomar. Dude just seems done.
-
Q would be such a phenomenal NL pitcher.

QUOTE (Knackattack @ Jul 27, 2015 -> 10:50 PM) I have every amount of faith in KW to trade away a talent like Rodon is some effort to get a bat solely based on a 5 game spree from a sub .500 team.

Scary thing with Eaton was his defensive decline, but it looks like that was a blip. He was completely useless in all aspects in april.
-
My contention is with this: It's almost like he forgot he was once successful with the Yankees against the Red Sox. ...what is this petty line?
-
I'd love to add Puig. Would actually suddenly be a decent-to-good defensive team with Alexei turned around, Saladino at 3b, and Avi removed.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 27, 2015 -> 10:07 PM) Why are we paying Robertson this much money again? It's almost like he forgot he was once successful with the Yankees against the Red Sox. Yikes. Is this post serious?

Great play Tyler!

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jul 27, 2015 -> 10:05 PM) Am I the only one who's pissed about the defensive indifference? It'd be 10-7 right now. What are you talking about? The Sanchez play? He went all out there

Oh god

I'm very nervous

I'm nervous.

If you take Sanchez' D and extrapolate his offense during last 11 games over a 16 year career we are talking one of best 2b ever?!?
-
Anytime you cab IBB a .220 hitter to get to a .210 hitter, you do it.

Get em Adam.
