  1. These questions suck. How many quotes do you need on how hard a decision it was? Get some answers on what they are going to do differently.
  2. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 29, 2014 -> 04:15 PM) If you get forced out of your neighborhood because it's not a s***hole I don't feel sorry for you. You were probably the problem in the first place. If it wasn't a s***hole why were they a problem?
  3. So I guess the Ted rumors were just rumors. SOunds like this guy is just a consultant for this hire than he's out.
  4. QUOTE (gatnom @ Dec 29, 2014 -> 04:05 PM) You got me there. But, there definitely is a double standard for posting things based on skin color, and I think we should hold everybody to the same standard. It is wrong for whoever specific people put that on a flyer to fearmonger, but if you want to know why there is no uproar, it's because any white person that wants to move in that area will be able to move in that area without added difficulty.
  5. I wonder what the odds are this press conference is interesting
  6. Okay so "don't actually care" was your answer.
  7. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 29, 2014 -> 02:36 PM) Man the writers really love this guy, because I swear this same article gets published every two to three months. http://m.mlb.com/news/article/105096090/oz...x?tcid=fb_share Why wouldn't they? He gave them all access 24/7
  8. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 29, 2014 -> 03:16 PM) Its just crazy to me that for the last two years we have been reading J4L going "HAHAHA JIMMY BUTLER IS LAME HAHAAHA NO SUPERSTARS FOR YOU" and now Jimmy Butler is becoming a bonafide superstar right before our eyes. And I do math bad. 20M J4L is who he is. He likes to take the best performance of the night and make a bold statement that the same performance will be extrapolated over whole season, while never commenting on the bulls. However, I thought it was crazy that anyone would sacrifice getting a scoring star because they wanted to keep Jimmy Butler. Frankly, I had no idea he had this post game. And I can't believe he developed a fade away post shot in one offseason. That means he can learn a hell of a lot more in the next 3 offseasons.
  9. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 29, 2014 -> 03:03 PM) Thats just crazy. We all were thinking 12M per year was steep and now 25M per year looks likely I mean, it's all based on %. If the cap only goes up 5 mill this year, because they are "smoothing", then Jimmy will get $15 million. If the cap rises to 125 million and all hell breaks loose, yeah, he'll be getting 25 million, but a lot of people are gonna be paid crazy sums. His may be the best "new" contract of the lot.
  10. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Dec 29, 2014 -> 02:53 PM) FWIW that was literally what was done to black people throughout much of the 20th century, and it was reason #1, not reason #11. It's basically what redlining and white flight were all about. So given that historical context, it'd be more offensive if said about black people in 2014 because they actually suffered for it for generations. White people aren't and weren't actually being redlined. and of course, a major difference is that there is nothing structural stopping any white person from moving into that neighborhood. Nobody is going to burn their house down in defiance. Nobody is going to riot because they are moving. But, you know, somebody put up a sign. And that's what we should spend our energy on. Again, there are a lot of bogeymen with gentrification, but there is a reason those fears exist. Gentrification when done right can be very beneficial to all, but it's rarely done right. And one of the biggest things you see is money come in, and prevent a lot of the measures that could help because they just bought a house there and deserve to have the same quaint neighborhood that will never change.
  11. Do you care because you think that's wrong or because you wish you could identify black people as a problem without consequence.
  12. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 29, 2014 -> 02:46 PM) Gruden was as close to gifted a superbowl as anyone has ever been. Callahan didnt change anything in the offense, both sides of that game admitted as such after the game was over. The Tampa defense said Gruden played the part of Gannon in the scout team and told them all EXACTLY how his line calls worked and what he was going to do, to a T Okay, and...they just walked into the superbowl?
  13. I don't want Gruden, but by the same token, guy brought the Raiders up too, he wasn't just handed the Bucs. Anyway, I don't want to have to listen to Gruden weekly.
  14. Winning a super bowl is hard, nobody is gifted it.
  15. People in August and September thought Jimmy could be had for 8 mill a year and would be mad if he got 10. It may not seem like it, but this was best case scenario.
  16. QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Dec 29, 2014 -> 01:37 PM) It's a good position to be in if they plan on giving the next coach more power than usual or if there is a package deal out there. Honestly, I don't think the Bears are getting Harbaugh, so I wouldn't bother. I'd be throwing everything at Gruden or Rex Ryan. Ryan was a casualty of a bad GM. I actually think Idzik was doing things the right way for longterm success, but, that team wasn't ready to rebuild.
  17. QUOTE (shipps @ Dec 29, 2014 -> 01:20 PM) As they have done before. I don't remember a search where this hasn't happened.
  18. Wasn't del rio the coach who put the axe and tree stump in the locker room and their kicker cut his own leg off?
  19. 49ers aggressively pursuing coaches. I worry with so many new positions to hire, Bears will shuffle their feet and have a weak crop to go off of (in a pretty weak crop already).
  20. If you are really interested in it, there has been more paper spent on gentrification than World War Two, and basically: -it's a net positive for the neighborhood -those it negatively affects are the poorest and most vulnerable - there are ways to mitigate the negative affects - those ways are often not utilized, as those who move in often start performing nimby regulations - the best way to help these neighborhoods are often counterintuitive, building of any kind is preferable to blocking new development, which is equivalent of putting heads in sand - there is a large painful wound of 60s era urban renewal which was really painful and poorly done that looms over all of this
  21. I haven't tried that. I imagine it tastes like metal cleaner. I may go to to the brewery to pick my games this year though.
  22. QUOTE (ewokpelts @ Dec 29, 2014 -> 12:22 PM) a six pack of old style is cheaper. Too much hassle.
  23. I have to say, the moon mullin article today where he states that Marinelli left after we hired his third choice, while Emery felt Marinelli was sure thing to stay, was another huge black eye. Guy just was a decent talent evaluator but bad judge of character and people manager.
