Fun seeing Alvarez on the sideline for a win today. Mizzou v Minn was everything I could want, big games by all of the seniors.

I forgot that coach/GM searches are kind of boring because there's really not that many rumors.

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Dec 31, 2014 -> 01:42 PM) I think a DeCosta (Ravens GM) and Kubiak (Ravens OC) would be best case scenario for the Bears GM & HC job. I have always been a fan of the Ravens drafts, hence why they are consistently good. And Kubiak brings HC experience who is dedicated to the run, runs 2 TE sets and a lot of play action. Agreed. One of the things I've always admired about the Lakers (even though they are screwed now), for the best example, or maybe also Yankees, is how they totally behave with the attitude of "if you are the best in the league, you are going to be a Laker". And things just kind of fall in line. There is no reason a flagship franchise like the Bears should not have that attitude, except they've been a bumbling, poorly performing franchise for 25 years and 25 years before that. But they have the resources to say to DeCosta "we will give you whatever amount you want, and the power to create the franchise in your image with 100% support. Go". If he turns down, fine, but why not go after that? He's clearly the creme de la creme.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 31, 2014 -> 01:51 PM) If Bo Wallace and an uninterested ole miss team was across the field that day they would be in. But they aren't. Bowl games after the fact a month later doesn't change the decision that was made based on the factors they published all along no matter how much the broadcasting team wants to keep repeating it. Congrats to TCU for a huge statement win. But yeah, I really wanted to see Bo go out on top. I was a big fan, his great games were so great. He was a likeable player. But he was definitely prone to this stuff and it can blow up in spectacular fashion against a good team.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 30, 2014 -> 05:48 PM) One thing about Gase is that since the broncos have a bye-week I believe he's technically actually allowed to interview this week but not next. Possible someone could interview him and have a hire lined up during that period if the Bears don't at least show interest. Yeah, I wouldn't read too much into not having a GM. Frankly we may have to wait 5 weeks for some of those guys. Would you really prefer we not interview them at all?

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Dec 30, 2014 -> 09:54 AM) Wasn't Decosta the one who turned down the Bears interview a couple of years ago? I would like a run at him, yes he turned down before, but he is Ozzie Newsome's successor and I do not believe he will leave. He may be off of our list because he has already told Acorsi.

QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Dec 30, 2014 -> 10:03 AM) Right there with Dick LeBeau? No. It's not even close. Rod Marinelli is a good D-line coach, but that is about it. Definitely not some who you ask to rank possible head coaches. Article also says he went on to have great success with Dallas. Cowboys are ranked 28th in sacks this year and are in the bottom half of the league in run defense. He's done a nice job there, but it's not like he has them crushing offenses. Their defensive line sucks though. Anyway, the point of it is why were the Bears force feeding Marinelli to every HC option, also allowing Marinelli the feeling he was picking successor, and pick the coach who will keep Marinelli but not the coach marinelli wants, and LOSE ALL OF THEM.

QUOTE (shipps @ Dec 29, 2014 -> 04:50 PM) Wait...so Tucker is still employed with the Bears? I thought his firing would just be a given since he was brought in by Emery who is now fired. This organization cant help but be fun bad with everything they do. They basically said the reason they fired Kromer was because of his actions with the locker room thing. Every other position player will be decided on by the new coach, as is custom.

Gentrification
QUOTE (LDF @ Dec 29, 2014 -> 04:47 PM) so should social economic growth stop?? if the property increases, those who rent will be in a better area. no one is going to fix all the economic problems of the world. No, and he's not saying that. The problem is normal market forces don't always apply to housing. Normally when demand increases, supply will increase. But in housing, there are often roadblocks that prevent it.

Gentrification
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 29, 2014 -> 04:40 PM) The people that want nothing to change really enjoy their new stores and safe me environment but want it without anyone else moving in. You can't have it both ways. People accept the new status quo and defend it immediately, while simultaneously opposing anything new, as if they are always on the cusp of a tipping point. Chicago is pretty good about this, it has space and a history of ambitious architecture. But think about San Fran. Possibly the dumbest group of people running around asking "HOW DO WE SOLVE THIS".

Should The Sox Buy the Old Post Office For A New Stadium?
Sox stadium to me isn't that different to me from Citi parks location. It's not the iconic "mixed within the city" look of San Fran, Wrigley, Pittsburgh, Boston, Bronx, Coors, etc...but it's the next best thing. The stadiums that work in suburban locations are almost all in cities with low density and driving is expected. It's basically "good enough" and anything you swap it out with would be about as convenient, otherwise it's improbable from a cost standpoint without significant city buy-in...and why would Chicago?
