  1. It’s not like things are a disaster but it just feels like if you are with a friend and they are like “I’m hungry, I feel like something spicy!” And you proceed to give very reasonable and good recommendations for hours while one by one they get too busy and then close, so you end up going to a 24 he diner getting pancakes.
  2. he was injured in 2020, so you are wrong. Great schtick.
  3. my personal belief is that there will be a 3rd year team option with buy-out, but the agent is likely the one who put it out first. The length is the winner for leury. I hope he did well, to be a 6+ position switch hitter takes extraordinary effort. Hope he gives us a few more walk-offs, playoff cheers.
  4. Here's the good news, a lot of our prospects are young and years from 40 man protection which is what rays would like.
  5. lol, this is really nice of Arcia, but this seems so annoying. Is it like a checkbox on the contract? Do the braves, right before you sign, ask "would you like to donate 1% of your contract to our charity?" and stare at you the whole time?
  6. gotta tell ya, liked the jesse rogers interview, but listening to Chuck pontificate at signing Rizzo makes me not run to listen to how chuck is processing this when there isn't a guest on.
  7. Freddie Freeman is a free agent right now, shouldn't they be putting more of their attention there?
  8. Braves just spent $3M on Orlando Arcia who had a 48 wRC+ last year but places SS and all over the field. What a buncha moroons
  9. yeah Engel is probably a better story, the leury thing is just a holdover from 2018 when none of our hitters really started to show up. Engel is one of the more bizarre stories in the whole league. Athleticism is good.
  10. People won't want to hear it but Leury is a pretty good hitting development story for the sox. He was horrendous offensively when we first got him. He likely just needed playing time, but 2017 he really established that he wouldn't be an issue offensively. Hell his first 155 at bats he had a wRC+ of...4
  11. He'll be fine in Charlotte. If he's hitting 20 bombs by June again, and if sox team is healthy, they can just trade Leury. Romy is good and will beat out Mendick, and that's the place Romy should be right now - replacing Mendick on our bench.
  12. Example of soxtalk being very familiar with other teams.
  13. um, well last year says yes. But great post as usual.
  14. Segura is also much better defensively than Cesar by OAA, and in a test, Jonathan Judge of BP found OAA to be best at measuring infield defense, FRAA for outfield defense (https://www.draysbay.com/2020/4/15/21219514/mlb-defense-best-statistic-baseball-prospectus) DRS has segura at 5, Hernandez at -11. THat definitely is what it felt like last year. OAA had Segura at 9, Hernandez at 0. Hernandez also certainly didn't look amazing at 2b last year, and Segura can swing SS. So offensively, I think it's fair that segura and hernandez may be equal. I don't buyy that for defense.
  15. When you are playing 6 positions its hard to keep up on all of them. Put him consistently at 2b he'll be positive. He has mentioned how when he is primary OF he has to just focus on OF in practice, and only starts infield when he gets assigned. That is why sox have periodically tried to focus him as more backup IF but his ability to spot center and corner has always moved him there.
  16. I think Leury would be worth more as his poor outfield defense drags him.
  17. If you liked Nick Madrigal, you will like Jean Segura.
