  1. somewhere @TomPickle is shedding a tear
  2. If you exclude Scherzer, the pitching deals so far are nothing any GM should have been shocked by. This is a straight line from previous deals to this one, maybe even more reasonable.
  3. ah, are we back in the thing where we need to handicap the franchise to show the other owners what good little boys we are so we get them onboard to put tighter screws on the MLBPA?? Love it. Great strategy. That's why you become an owner.
  4. Rick Hahn: "Good luck topping that offer!" *Player easily tops offer and signs elsewhere* "Good luck topping that offer!" *Player easily tops offer and signs elsewhere* "Good luck topping that offer!" *Player easily tops offer and signs elsewhere* "Good luck topping that offer!" *Player easily tops offer and signs elsewhere* "Good luck topping that offer!" *Player easily tops offer and signs elsewhere*
  5. That's just the gausman deal. Very annoying. This pitching problem sucks 100x more than 2b to me.
  6. you know to start the offseason I would have said there's no way he takes a 1 year deal, but maybe he gets an AAV he likes and thinks he can recreate what Semien did (or moustakas before that?) I still think there's plenty of money sloshing around that he finds what he wants, but wouldn't be shocked if he did it now.
  7. eh at least on the high end I think soxtalk generally hits better than that. MLBTR tends to hit the mid market better, where this board is always shocked when an average SP gets 10+M
  8. Soxtalk continues to be better at reading the market then the front office, then.
  9. I don't think anyone has actually put conforto and sox together, except y2jimmy, and even then it seemed like an informed hunch. Bruce was the one that highlighted sox with Boras, but mentioned Semien and Bryant (how it wouldn't be bryant)
  10. obviously he says they are working hard because he wants people that follow him to believe that action is possible, urgent and continuing to engage in his charade. If he said they weren't working on anything, then why pay attention to the white sox fake insider acct? They are always working hard! Close to a deal!
  11. we've all seen this Jack act before, don't need to beat a dead horse.
  12. but isn't davis atrocious at 3rd and everywhere but 1b? I hope it happens, but feels more realistic if they nabbed Baez which is unlikely now sitting at 263 and on their way to 280
  13. this would be a huge win. But is mcneil expendable yet? EE -> 3rd right?
  14. That's what was reported. Contact with players is blocked (by owners), but nothing preventing teams from discussing trades.
  15. my favorite part is that's a $190M roster.
  16. I do find it very likely that sox FO were surprised by what a FA market looks like with 15 teams competing vs 3-4 like they've been in the last few.
  17. there are lots of players on the market though. Not sure it says anything about correa, seager, etc.
  18. one thing that the last bit of notes from mlb writers has made clear is that the non-tendered players will have zero chance to sign before lockout, so it really was just help to provide clarity for them once offseason resumes.
  19. I'm bummed because pitchers like this aren't on market often... but I'm exTREEEEMELY bummed he went to the mets. Just revolting.
  20. mmm..no I don't buy it. They won't have a 30 game improvement.
  21. Probably true. But i'm pretty sure they are mostly texters.
  22. Since this morning already sucks, quick hypothetical: How much would you pay to have basically mirrored access to Rick Hahn's work phone but you are under a strict NDA and can't discuss with anyone. Would you even do that? Would you pay for the privelege. You can still talk white sox but you must always post in vague generalities or only discuss what's happened. It's basically Goethe's faust of our time.
