I've wondered if Bryant could play 2b. My guess is he wouldn't want to, and I can't think of many 2bs as tall as him. I think he's headed for a weird offseason of suitors because of his versatility.

I think in general the board underestimates contracts around this time of the offseason, but I still think MLBTradeRumors is way overshooting there.

So What Do The Dodgers Do This Off Season To Get To Be As Good As The Braves?
So, you bring up strength of schedule, someone counters with Braves an 88 win team in a bad division that had a worse strength of schedule than the sox, and you say "well at least they were chased by the Phillies", the 82-80 Phillies. The 80-82 Cleveland team "chased" the sox in that case, the sox just unfortunately won 5 more games and did it early enough not to get the extra credit I guess.

This is blaming the Sox for sprinting 20 games above .500 and not meandering earlier in the year so they could be “chased” by the Indians and Tigers. If the Sox weren’t up 9 games in late July, Eddie Rosario wouldn’t be in the braves

Seiya Suzuki
He’s left handed, plays 2nd base, has high contact rates and doesn’t hit the ball on the ground. I’m sorry his performance with your favorite team traumatized you but that’s a short list of players and him sucking with your favorite team is probably good for acquiring him.

Well moving on from Grandal must have made them advance through playoff rounds right?

Depending on how on tilt Preller is, maybe Frazier becomes available again.

If he’s going to paint them into a corner, glad it’s the one where he needs to spend. That said, he always seems to gravitate toward spending on DHs and Closers, that’s where his ideal top contract tends to get top of market.

I feel like our bench better got the assignment that Ayo knew in game 1, these dudes aren’t coming into to shoot, they are in to run like hell and be maniacs on defense. Man I love Javonte Green, and that lineup of Caruso, Lavine, Ball, DDR, Vuc with more time can be lethal. Still vulnerable to size, but should be able to shut down perimeter.

things don't look so bad now
Unlike other teams, the Astros players say they work hard for their success. We will never try that.

Honestly sox should just contract themselves.

Lol yeah I meant doesn’t hit the ball in the ground. He only has a 36% gb rate and I think Sox were like 55% as a team.

That is a good bench mark.

It's a pretty good idea, doesn't solve the RHH stuff but checks everything else. K's more than you'd like as he gets older but walks 10+%, plays everywhere, and doesn't hit the ball on the ground.

There are definitely Bars on 100 level that serve cocktails, there is like a crown royal club I remember. No idea if they'd serve you shots though, kinda doubt they'd have cups for it.

Sox to pick up $16M Kimbrel option, per Nightengale. Then try to trade him.
How would you know that.

Yeah so he mentioned probably just average defensively but has good speed and a good arm...when we are talking about GRF that plays really well. I really hope they kick the tires on this guy. Seattle is full of Outfielders. SD could go after him. I don't think sox do but like I said, the good thing about our poor process is if he does a showcase with Kenny in audience, we have good a shot as any.

I understand. I am focused on a few areas where I'd like to see the sox go from good to great by improving these qualities (crucially while not subtracting in other areas) 1. On offense - balance the aggressiveness of our hitters with additional High OBP/lower K batters 2. On offense - Improve on bad groundball rate through coaching + additions 3. On offense - improve balance of RHH with poor RHP splits 4. Pitching - diversify pitching options with more offspeed heavy pitchers. Velo advantage did not pay off while still so wild 5. Defense - limited ability to improve We have 2 areas where we can reasonably improve 1, 2, 3, 5 in RF and 2b where we do not have established regulars. In free agency, there are plenty of decent 2b options, but very, very few 2b options that actually accomplish 1 or 3. Amazingly, Cesar is one of the better options there, especially if he can be better on defense as he was. In RF, however, there are more options to improve 1, 2 and 3 and at least not get worse on 5. Conforto may block Vaughn from an easy defensive position, but he does offer this lineup vs. RHP. Anderson R Robert R Grandal L Abreu R Conforto L Eloy R Moncada L Sheets L Cesar H./Leury L The emergence of sheets already added a lot, but just adding one more LH hitter like Conforto, along with keeping a switch hitting 2b really does help here. Vs LHP, we also can introduce Romy, who I believe should help with more power. I think "balancing" is tricky in a trade, and just continuing to add is probably better just for one more year then dealing with it.

I don’t understand why he can’t just be a DH? I think everyone is fine with Gavin the DH.
