  1. Man I love watching videos of this kid but yeah there’s a lot of swing and miss. Gonna be interesting when he faces pitchers that have a plan against him.

Victor Quezada homer and a good Adrian Gil outing with 4 ks in 3 IP
  3. My experience has been that upper levels tend to be worse for concessions. One of those things with the Sox where even though it’s less people they give you less stuff and you just end up piled into the same stuff.

He’s starting to get noticed Perez was first put on the radar when a BA writer saw him in instructionals at 18 or so and said he could be a big league catcher (why BA writers are awesome) He has been on that long development path, but carrying with him decent contact as he moved up levels. After a 5 hit night, his average is up to .280. He’s hit more homers in Bham than he has in any other year (5). He doesnt walk much but doesnt k (10%) And his defense has always been his calling card. 24 years old. I think he’s a legit backup catcher soon.
  5. Here is video of him homering with a wood bat
  6. Admittedly not a ton of action but soxmachine cut some highlights of their state championship game
  7. For all the reputation of having big stuff his pitches grade really poorly on baseball savant even in his early years.
  8. My old Hahn muscle memory worried well trade out heuer for a now arm and end up in a similar place. We have so much LHRP otherwise chafin from Cubs makes sense. John king or grave man could be decent groundball/control relievers for cheap. I wonder if NYY trades out bullpen help like Chad green.
  9. To be clear - I know Perez had a strong rep for defense, just want to know if they still feel strongly about it where avg offense pairs with strong defense.
  10. Try harder
  11. Romy with a double Carlos Perez 3-3 now hitting .274. Each season he has been able to provide avg offense and would love to know his defense. But now he may be inching toward slightly above avg offensive production. Im intrigued.
  12. I mean thank god he didn’t pick the Dodgers or Padres though. Considerate of him.
  13. They wouldn’t be 30% of the payroll if the payroll was higher, and the point of signing them wasn’t to hit the exact equilibrium of talent needed to win the central it was to step on their damn necks. Sox should have signed them, but I love this damn team anyway and there is always a new way forward. Still my number one thing will always be they shoulda traded and signed Betts and idc.
  14. He is an all around guy, but has shown the best ability to get his tools to show in games and keeps improving as he rises. Kanny is a really difficult hitters park and especially for power. It’s also a huge jump from rookie league which is where he played at 18. He’s been batting lead off, where I’m his k% is down, his walks are up, he’s swiped 18 of 22 bags, and has 8 hrs in 50 games. At only 5’11 he doesn’t have a ton of room to grow, but he just keeps putting it together and feels like he could really put himself on the map in A+ where the park is easier.
  15. Micker double
  16. Tomshaw sucked now we are gonna lose. Classic TLR
  17. My thoughts: interesting development
  18. What is xRV?
  19. Good start for Thompson, 3 IP, 2 ER, 3ks
  20. Naw man you are awesome for doing this.
  21. Injuries are only noted when you are the Mets, when the writers have to mention how incredible it is they keep marching on despite a backup infielder having a twisted ankle.
  22. I had to do this manually so I just chose his record vs Padres (we’re in similar positions to Sox), Milwaukee (because I love their f.o.) and the ALC. If anyone knows a site that sorts the players by draft position and shows some mlb stats in same table it would make this pretty easy to put together. I basically did lookups for draft picks to their 40 man and if they were there I looked up their fWAR.
  23. Ha, “you got paid you were so good so you don’t need this ribbon if your achievement.”
  24. Rays are the cream of the crop, and Padres to me are next best. Dodgers are incredible, but their money resources extend beyond their salary. That team had like 6 former GMs in its front office at one point. Their scouting, pd and latam system is boundless. But both Rays and Padres get an extra pick and/or budget for international. Sox need to make up for that with higher FA spending, but they have not vs Pads.
