Just to clarify my post shouldn't serve to be a debbie downer, I'm just talking about immediate impact. I think he's such a beast he can transform upon being challenged but just wouldn't be surprised if he is in that chris young/mike cameron mold early on, so he'll need to make sure he gets enough contact for power.

I started looking at the pacers depth and then wrote down Collison, hah. Conley et al is very good but depth gets you through the regular season and they just need more defensive versatility from their front court and would be throwing questionable guard play almost immediately. Need more shooting/more athleticism all around. I would like Jrue Holiday more than conley. If the 7th +the salary dumps net either I think you do it, because as you said you could get rid of Porter if you need to. But absent that, I am starting to think I'd pull the trigger on Reddish if he's there. It also just feels like brandon clarke is gonna be a guy everyone says years later they should have just drafted him.

I don't agree with that, their depth is bad because it has a bunch of bad players. Arcidiacano is nice but he's fine if you have a few superstars. The team bulls are building needs borderline starters as backups as they have a lot of good not great players put into a core. Wayne Selden jr, Hutchinson, Valentine, Dunn, Felicio, TLC. Shaq harrison was a good 3rd/4th guard because he has a purpose. The rest, bleh. And you are almost certainly out the 7th to the grizz in addition to needing to shave off at least 10 million for Conley, and that's not assuming they want legit talent which they may be able to acquire for Conley. By contrast, a team like the pacers is throwing Thad Young and Tyreke Evans at you in the second unit. So acquire collison, you are looking at Darren Collison, Lavine, Porter, Lauri, WCJ - Starters Dunn, Felicio, Hutchinson, 2nd round pick, Valentine, WSJ. You certainly need to add a backup C with Lopez gone or you are spending on the exception for Lopez. It would be pretty hard. It kinda looks like Detroit.

What do we actually expect though? Hard part is I don't expect Roberts obp to be that high. I would be very happy first few years if he can be in the .250/.310/.500 range. But if he is only getting .220 out he's gonna have to slug really high.

Conley I still think is really good, but it's obviously tough to narrow down "top ten" when we can't really decide on whether we count players like Harden as PGs. But the bulls depth is very bad. And I'm still not confident that with him they are better than the Pacers. They need some vet pieces like a Jared Dudley/Demarre Carroll type folks.

2019 MLB draft thread
Well, I try to keep in mind that it wasn't that long ago people were thinking it may go 1. Rutschman 2. Vaughn 3. Stott so that 4 you have up there I'm pretty happy with!

2019 MLB draft thread
I think saying 3-8/9 is a bit too much. I personally view there being a top 4, with Rutschman, Witt, Abrams, Vaughn, and then there being a trio Bleday, Green, Bishop. After that its kinda whoever you want in a mix of college SP/ early hs p. I think there are fair cases for Bleday over Vaughn, but I still think his bat puts him a tier above and may just get pushed away for fit reasons.

No Ja is not that good of a prospect and it wouldn’t take that. You could get it for this years first and a lottery protected first and I’m not sure I wouldn’t take Barrett at two anyway

Blue Jays of Toronto vs Ricky Renteria's Dumb Ass Lineup | 7:10pm CT |
He wasn't really hot, though. He had a hot game, and this allowed two days off. Considering he's played every day to that point I was fine with it.

Id like reports on how people view Lambert's command at this point, if he can only command one pitch and then gets by with poor discipline from AA hitters I'd prefer he stay down. If he can command at least 2 pitches at this point consistently then I don't have a problem moving him aggressively at this point.

Just want to point out I was right when I said Madrigal would have a homer before June.

I think it would be interesting to see how nice of a team building piece there could be with a solid catching core and a 1b/DH/catcher flex. also incredibly cheap.

In terms of refocusing to "just gettin stuff", I really don't think I'd have issue at 7 with many guys. Even if they took Reddish I'd get it, and it'd probably be worth shooting your shot (sorta like Malik Monk albeit it didn't work out) with a guy with that skillset. But assuming the absolute locks that Williamson, Morant and Barrett are all gone, in order of my preference its 1) Jarrett Culver 2) Darius Garland 3) Coby White 4) Deandre Hunter (more for fit, he is likely above white otherwise) 5) Reddish 6) Hayes 7) Clarke Trade back guys Nickeil Alexander Walker, Bol Bol, Grant Williams If we picked up a future lotto protected first, traded back and got NA-W? I wouldn't hate it! If we got Culver I'd deem that really successful, Garland really nice, White pretty normal, and I seriously could buy into any of the guys behind even though some fit questionably as our health and rotation is so thin.

I really miss this.
The bigger takeaway from tampa, as ever, is getting that direct comparison in an organization that commits to player development and squeezing value out of every asset, and the white sox.

I think the vandy commits are ones that you could get in play for with that, depending on how you feel about leiter, jones, and ss volpe. Walston and Espino would be in play too.

Rooting for Walker, but still, strange choices to me. Alek Thomas is doing really well in A ball, also with great BB:K numbers. Signed for 900k less. Instead of pilkington could have gone after one of the many high school arms in round 3 with 1.5 million. Just not a fan of the draft strategy recently. Milwaukees was beautiful.

Banuelos leaves game with shoulder soreness
When I was unhappy with them, it was not "oh no we may not be able to trade for Andrew Cashner to replace Manny Banuelos"

I suppose worst case scenario would be robert/cease failing. But it's hard at this point to say the sox have any more than two top 100 players active (i.e. kopech/dunning injured). Luis Gonzalez, with a 16% k rate, is having a more acceptable form of failure. Numbers like Forbes as well, are when you can say "well birmingham". Basabe is 60 pas into a injured wrist rehab, sure. Adolfo's injuries make him hard to ever rely on. Rutherford is hopefully starting digging himself out of the hole, but again this is where Luis Gonzalez type failure is more acceptable than this. Krate skyrockets, walk rate plummets, power still not there. He is maybe 10% of the value he had when we acquired him. Sheets, I'm starting to think he may not be anthony rendon. Again, no growth, has proved to not be a prospect. For whatever hope that Nunez found a bat last year, that's gone. Curbelo repeating and healthy, and is terrible. Sosa, sweet sosa, is perfectly acceptable to repeat in low a, and is starting to dig back out. You wait until the year end, but not a fast mover anymore. The collection of arms is just a series of low stuff, low control up and down. The college relievers have been injured or lack control. The depth is non-existent. The box scores the last 2 years have always had something interesting. This feels like 2015 all over. However, there is AAA, where guys have founds some life. Collins is showing how that profile can succeed. Mendick is absolutely showing he can be a Saladino level guy. Zevala fighting out of that early hole. And of course, Alcides escobar is amazing. Can't wait for pioneer/azl, where we can feel positive thoughts watching our too old draft picks destroy the league and think we've found a diamond in the rough.

I doubt it was any team that high. Someone probably just guaranteed him a floor. If a top ten team asks for a private workout he’s taking it, but no need to go through combine if a team saw what it needed.
