  1. Joe Borchard, Josh Fields, Jared Mitchell that I can remember.
  2. Among other things, really respect the effort he likely put into getting his body ready for the season. The main concern Fegan pointed to in the article posted in the OP was that endurance would be an issue. Granted, it's late may, but he was throwing 97 mph in the 8th last night. At least within starts he has been able to maintain without fatigue. I'm sure end of year he may hit a wall, but that's a good thing. It means he has been pitching through another year. Major props to Giolito. Please sign his pitching coach.
  3. He's talking about Maurice Hampton, but, regardless there aren't that many elite two sport athletes each year. This year there are JErrion Ealy and Hampton, and maybe some that played football that aren't mentioned. Last year it was Murray and Adams. Both were selected in first two rounds, we know what happened with Murray. So yeah, more than the freakin sox like super athletic people that are so good they can play D1 ball IN TWO SPORTS
  4. Or he could just, like, play the position we need. Kelenic is already gonna meet Madrigal in A+. Making decisions on the assumption that the college player will make it faster than the high schooler is insane. Carter Kieboom made it to the big leagues before both Collins and Burdi. I have to believe at this point the sox scouting dept doesn't see them similarly, they rank abrams as potentially better. Now, they probably are working with a player dev group that won't know how to tap into power, but that's hard to factor into scouting.
  5. I have a feeling that when both are in A+, we will have severe FOMO over Riley Greene, by time they are in AAA we will be thrilled having Abrams.
  6. It's a matter of degrees. If Abrams hits 90 wrc+, he's still a major leaguer, possibly still even a plus regular. If Vaughn hits 90 wrc+, he maybe makes the show but is basically useless. If Abrams hits 110 wrc+, he could be an all star. if Vaugh hits 110 wrc+, he's a replaceable starter. Now, it's true that Vaughn is more likely to have a 110 wrc+ than Vaughn, but to little value. And he's certainly more likely to have a 130 or more, but the degree matters a lot because he basically has to be a star with the bat, but he's also the most likely to be a star with the bat.
  7. Just for fun, I crossed out all of the guys who wold not be available at 45 according to FG latest mock (again, just for fun). Not listed: Maurice Hampton - now my fav player ever. Probably thought he'd be gone, only realized Jerrion Ealy as a two sport guy.
  8. This sounds like fun, thanks for the tip!

Good, he's starting to fill out. He's fought back so hard this year. I really hope he keeps it up. If he can finish year above .700 ops that's a huge win.
  10. I will still be excited for Vaughn, but yeah, still preparing for Wyatt personall.y.
  11. I think that Maurice Hampton profile looks awesome tbh. Give me bat speed and athleticism all day. Couple other notes: - Some of the shortstops in round 2 they are linked to sound really similar in profile to Yolbert Sanchez. Really piling on there. - CJ Abrams is profiled in the athletic here for subscribers: https://theathletic.com/993601/2019/05/29/a-born-hitter-georgia-prep-star-c-j-abrams-will-be-a-speedy-selection-in-mlb-draft/
  12. Just want to stress that this is drafting for need. They seem to go in with a plan not based on who the players in the draft are but what the org needs. Last year had a draft full of prep pitching and sox didn't grab one, they went after a bunch of low velo college pitchers and polished college hitters.
  13. With a wonderfully interesting update, here are two BA scouting reports for my soxtalk bretheren. I'm particularly intrigued by Goss. Hunter Barco Both athletic and great size. Barco's changeup is intriguing and a 6'4 lefty. But I really like Goss's writeup.
  14. Very pro. As someone who basically only has access to player type and draft resource management I'm pro. But these wild vacillations in draft strategy each year make me wonder how successful their combining of analytics and scouting operations are.

Ha, trying to parse together what happens in Birmingham video is so tough
  16. I don’t know it would be that much more than Vaughn’s tbh.
  17. bmags replied to soxfan49's topic in FutureSox Board
Wow how did that slide make it in
  18. Q for player-manager

This may be a dumb question but how do they decide how many bases to give your stats for a walk-off?
  20. Terrance Gore is fun.
  21. So now there’s mendick to try out. Congrats, you’ve learned what a rebuild is.
  22. Yes, people wanted to know what they had since we know yolmer is bad. Kinda the point.
