  1. Perez was introduced a cutter that is now his primary pitch throwing it 34% of the time. Hitters are hitting .104 against it. Last year he threw his sinker 50% of the time, so now he has 3 pitches he can control, and the cutter/changeup getting a lot of whiffs. It made him a pitcher that was terrible against RHP suddenly better against Righties than lefties. He signed for .87 Jon Jays.

    Palka time

Yes, it's this. I'm glad Palka found his footing. But he was a promising albeit flawed player last year. Because of his clear lack of defensive value, he had an opportunity to showcase himself this year with improvement in getting on base and contact, that's without even asking him to be a more complete profile for LHP. Instead he went 0fer while being platooned! That he has recovered in AAA doesn't mean we erase that period and say "well he's changed and moved on", that he had a 0 for 30+ streak is a very big adjustment to what you think he's capable of, which is "maybe/probably better than nicky delmonico's bat" at this point. Alcides Escobar has been terrible for many a year in MLB (offensively), which is helpful data. Maybe he'd be a little better but who cares. Danny Mendick on other hand, he's had a nice showing of maintaining his power as he's moved up, and his success may indicate a player that could improve on Jose Rondon's production - a player who has failed to capitalize on more playing time in MLB despite great AAA renaissance last year.
  3. Yeah that's how I feel. And you can see when he responds to which is his favorite pitch its not "low and outside" where he can wait back and spray it to the outfield, it's low and inside because he can drive it the farthest. He could be a guy so talented that just needs reps to update his approach and gets naturally bigger pulling the ball may be more attractive to him.
  4. The mock I showed had them getting Grant Williams which I'd be really happy with. Weird draft late, but it had McDaniels, Porter and Williams left, I'd take McDaniels of the 3. But yes, I would be actually quite happy with Brogdon and one of Hunter/Reddish. I still would be okay with Coby White but not sold he'd be high chance of being a starter, while Hunter Reddish I do think could be at least very valuable rotation guys.
  5. Thanks, it's this data but just wondering if all positions can be in one table? like white sox as the filter, and all of their positions on the left and corresponding stats to the right. This works fine I just have to keep copying it over to remember.
  6. Abrams video on his hitting approach:
  7. Which stats site would allow me to look at production by position for each team? Something like LF - PAs ABs H 2b 3b HR BB K BA OBP OPS etc Is there an easy place to find this?
  8. Tired of the word games. An aggressive offer is one in which they had put together an offer that was greater than other teams. They didn't put together an aggressive offer. They put together a conservative one.
  9. It's a great show, well worth your time. The last season of the wire wasn't good either, I couldn't even finish it, but I still love the wire. Same thing here, and frankly most of the episodes in this season in isolation were entertaining - it just didn't build upon the incredibly detailed and robust storytelling that had occurred the first 4 seasons. I would still watch this quality of season over and over.
  10. Having only White or Hunter is my least favorite draft but it's very likely: https://www.si.com/nba/2019/05/20/nba-mock-draft-pelicans-grizzlies-knicks-lakers-zion-williamson-ja-morant-rj-barrett-post-combine?xid=socialflow_twitter_si&utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter.com&utm_campaign=sinow I think it makes sense to go White but there is an aspect of Hunter I'm drawn to...but his age really makes me wonder. He was an old sophomore, and he certainly seems athletic. He's not denzel valentine, he can finish around rim. He could be a really valuable wing if he developed consistently behind 3pt range and playing behind porter would be a really nice play on that.
  11. I don't understand your question. If Abrams team believes it will go 6th if not third, they may agree to sign to sox for only slightly more than the 6th slot. If not sox may get some discount but an unknown amount. Any amount they save could go toward later picks. But it sounds like sox are in on Abrams due to preference not just savings. They may very well be able to get vaughn at savings too.
  12. Yes, when it gets to point that you are killing off characters because of off screen contract disputes it gets bad. The show was intense to make, they shot multiple locations simultaneously most seasons, with the production team living abroad to find the locations and scheduling year round. It's probably that team that was most ready to finish. The beats were all there at the end but it was like getting a wikipedia page of "stuff that happened".
  13. Hoping for 3. Just really don't want to be swept by Minny.
  14. My favorite boring thing is to take off (if I can) for rounds 2-10 and stay home with BA 500 up.
  15. I want Abrams to be much, much better, but it goes to show how long a player like that can hold value (feels like we've talked about mateo for the whole decade and he's only about to turn 24). Even Engel to some extend is an example of how far top speed can help you travel. Have a plus plus skill everyone.
  16. 80 speed plus good contact profile gives you a reasonable floor. Very likely to get some mlb production out of that even if it isn't starter. And again, there's always the what-if in those guys. Jorge Mateo has hit for 6 home runs and 9 triples in AAA this year. That's double the Hrs he hit all of last year. He's still only 23. His speed carried him for a long time.
  17. Yes I mostly liked where everyone was. Really needed, like really needed Jon to have chosen to take the black as a sacrifice to legitimize bran. I really hated that he made that choice and was just unceremoniously discarded because it really undercut his heritage. I mostly liked pre-selections scene and post selection scene, but the humor really didn't work for me and it all was just too fantastic. It could have been a fun episode that could be like the wrangling of the 14th amendment in the film Lincoln. The condensing was just so unfortunate and kinda wild. Not sure how many 8 season shows we'll ever say again that it ended too soon.
  18. Wow Pilkington up to 11 now
  19. How are our polished college hitters faring? Is Sheets Rendon-ing yet?
  20. The best players in this org currently are Tim anderson, yoan Moncada And Luis Robert and people are still bringing up Courtney Hawkins
  21. If they did get him at 6 slot that’s like 1.5 mil
  22. His pro scouting was very good the first decade, then the aging curve changed.
  23. It’s an interesting draft for evaluating traditional draft red flags. Corbin Carrol seems like one of the safer Hs bats, but he’s 5’10. Baty is physically impressive, and has that Gorman vibe but is super old for a prep bat. Vaughn is a short RH hitting 1b that happens to be one of the most productive college bats ever. Bishop/Bleday are both the late bloomers. interesting draft to try and find value and ignoring the dogma. Id probably most hate to be wrong on a Baty though.
  24. The difference is blake needed to tap into his power and people thought he would "grow into it", while ignoring that he was already an older prospect for high school. Witt already maximizes his game power for his plus raw power, so the age is less of a concern.
