  1. REally interested in his schedule. I wonder if he'll be allowed to play in back fields before june 1st, or if he'll start with AZL then hopefully get to something like w-s by the minor league all star break.
  2. Eh, we get him on the cost controlled years. It would be phenomenal to get a freaking all star out of Jake Burger.
  3. I saw he missed yesterday with a sinus infection so maybe he's just really sick? edit: ANNNND i read your full post which included this. I think if there's a press conference announcement they may wait. Or there are some minor "incentives" they are working out.
  4. Yes though it has seemed like pitchers are getting much less in these pre-lock-up years likely due to greater injury risk.
  5. I like the deal for both sides, but I do think this undercounts the risk from the sox side in guaranteeing the next 6 years. After 2 years, the angels had an (runner up) MVP on their hands. They leveraged their 4 years of control to get 2 additional manageable years. The sox have...hopefully something good, but something volatile and maybe something that becomes a dH which would really hurt arb. It's still worthwhile to do, but this is just a fair deal, if he's awesome it's a good deal, but we would have had him for 6 years at a similar total cost anyway.
  6. I'm actually excited for him, this could be a hell of a ramp up curve, but I think too many impressions of him were formed after he was in that exhausted post-college season months in kanny/w-s. I am not expecting or relying on him any more, but he had an interesting bat in college.
  7. Leury may no longer be the best OF on the roster soon.
  8. If people would like examples of why some dislike Nightengale, this is 95% of the reason I dislike him. He is an old school guy that obssesses over the "soft" parts of the game which often make me cringe.
  9. I actually assumed there was a logistical or rule-based issue complicating it, but if its just for appearances that's absurd.
  10. oh dayumm This second round of free agency has been more expensive than I anticipated. Still think shane ray would be a good fit in the aaron lynch mold.
  11. I was at the game and thought dunn was pretty lousy then I looked up and he had like 25 and 14. Even though they aren't good, I like how aggressive TLC and harrison are. That ending play with rolo was so bad. I was laughing hard when I saw that I was at a game with antonio blakeney starting at the 3.
  12. It's pretty good, the arb years seem on board with 2019 prices, that they then prepaid in order to get another year. Yesterday i thought it was a pretty good deal for eloy, and it still is, but seeing the year by year, really pleased.
  13. Yeah I am too at this point although it is way more boring to be big on a prep prospect as you get very little new stuff at this point of the process, vs daily college games to feast on. Basically waiting around hoping not to get a bad report on witt. That said, I really love speed, and if baseball changes the size of the bases guys like Abrams could be way more productive than power may indicate. The age thing is still the big part that scares me with Witt.
  14. If you are a top ten prep pitcher who has the team discover something and give a much lower amount, do you just take it at this point? Those pitchers have been doing pretty bad recently in follow up year
  15. It's pretty awesome when anyone whose parents were cops and teachers grows up to become a many-millionaire.
  16. Right but that would have been true had he not signed the contract. The teams have a lot of leverage in these deals in that the next six years do not have guaranteed money if the player is terrible. Now Jimenez gets guaranteed money regardless of how good he is. He would very likely be good! But he could also get injured and never be what we thought, and now the dude gets a great life for his family and I'm happy for him.
  17. well apparently it doesn't matter and I was wrong, but if it realistically got you years 8/9 on options rather than 7/8 that's an interesting gamble for 3 weeks. But I am glad I get a much better outfield of Eloy/LEURYGOATCIA/danny palka than whatever the hell was going to be in left field for 3 weeks
