  1. Exactly. The white sox have a higher payroll than the As and Rays, who will compete for playoff spots. Their rosters are unbelievably more talented. The As got Profar for a really nice, smart deal. They always just look for good undervalued players. The sox paid market price for 2 average relievers. Their war will be 1/3 of manny machado brings this year, their cost? 1/2.
  2. I legitimately feel terrible for them. They were used against manny in all honesty.
  3. They are delusional, they are so inept. Yet, they think they are so clever.
  4. Yeah I wanted the sox to sign machado more than anything, never wanted my concerns vindicated. But it's obvious there are signs of failure in the sox execution and way of operating that puts them at a disadvantage. When it's pointed out its met with a lot of resistance, but a lot of posters were right. The sox need to find big bats, and in search of big bats I am sure they are going to have tunnel vision. Like when they tried to fix the offensive output of catcher by ditching tyler flowers only to not fix the offensive output and open up a defensive issue. Which they tried to fix by ditching narvaez. I'm not surprised, but I'm still annoyed and upset from a fan perspective. This makes the rebuild unbelievably harder. It was just money. Now they need to use talent in the most efficient way possible. The sox should really question whether their judgment of value is completely deficient considering their output. Machado at 300 mill is too high, but alonso at 10, nova at 9, herrera at 8, all getting you output you should easily be able to create with 800k. We helped our rival and took on a .780 ops first baseman. SMDH
  5. oh my god shut the fuck up kenny williams
  6. So true, it's important to understand the white sox lack impact bats. And now they lost the one that provided some defensive value. Complete and utter failure.
  7. An unimaginable failure for the front office and organization. The worst part of all of this is I knew big money was going toward big impact. The glut of spending will now be thrown at tier 2 free agents as they scramble to become competitive. And they will act like they will sign someone next year haha.

  9. https://theathletic.com/822743/2019/02/19/why-carson-fulmer-trained-at-driveline-this-offseason-to-reclaim-his-college-dominance/ Fegan on the situation. Can’t wait to get eyes on his first game.
  10. The real Machado was the bones we met along the way
  11. Yeah I made a baseball list to focus in, anytime more than 4-5 go up in a refresh I get antsy. Typically bad retweets.
  12. What does one do to get ready for this (aside from check it all religiously)?
  13. did people forget that over mannys first 5 year stretch baltimore had like the 2nd most wins of all franchises
  14. kinda seems like thats how everyone read it ?‍♂️
  15. Beat thing about Rosenthal is there is a lot of intriguing info packed in that tweet you know will be fleshed out in his column. Can’t wait for tomorrow to read it.
  16. Will you post the note here?
  17. What info do you have that it isn’t 280? Why criticize people for picking the higher number discussed by Nightengale when you just picked the lower number.
  18. That’s a very interesting Rosenthal tweet. Boras does what he does by working the owners, pushing ridiculous numbers in their faces and stroking their ego. That their is a value split in ownership/front office is a good thing. ”If we are gonna spend a quarter of a billion, why aren’t we spending it on Harper?” Conversations. But Sox not a part of that.
  19. What did the white sox respond?
  20. I do take the view that the lack of progression today is good news for the white sox.
  21. But it's a bad decision absent Machado signing. I think it's okay to criticize it.
  22. One thing that helps GMs get benefit of the doubt is prior success.
  23. Also, maybe we could just try to supplement this rebuild with as much talent as possible instead of taking a risk that we'll be extraordinary in any one area? Just hearing a lot of skepticism that adding talent is necessary since we already have talent, and if the exact talent we have right now doesn't succeed perfectly than it proves they didn't need any more talent.
  24. We didn't draft him, he was pretty well developed. His first year with us was his mvp year (he got worse subsequently after)
  25. Just because it's a rebuild doesn't mean you have to wait until a decade later to judge the decisions being made in the present. The sox targeted two very talented, younger than average for free agency player in a favorable environment. If they fail, it's fair to judge them on that. It's also fair to judge them on their weak drafting since the rebuild. It's also fair to judge them on their continued poor results from international free agency. They haven't had a player use the ample playing time to suddenly flourish like other rebuilds, as milwaukee and philly had. Hahn has yet to sign a free agent position player that has performed anywhere near better than expected during his entire tenure. And it all still may succeed. But it doesn't mean every decision has been right along the way.
