  1. I don't understand why sox are acting so shocked. Had they actually offered the HIGHER DEAL and he signed elsewhere then okay, but ...you didn't offer enough?
  2. That they completely misjudged the machado market, thought offering access to a exclusive coupon club would make up for the lack of additional guaranteed money, and that they wouldn't fork over $300 million.
  3. God they are gonna sign like adam jones aren't they
  4. If the sox will not spend more than 66 million on a free agent, you'd think they'd have the courtesy to start operating like a progressive, smart front office squeezing every bit of value out of their budget like the rays and as. Instead they are delusional, thinking that they are all individually brilliant and loyal and they will find a way, no need to shake the boat, then one of us could lose a job!
  5. Who cares, we could have put players in those positions that could provide same value longer term. Yonder alonso hit .738 as a first baseman last year. Same as matt davidson. He's not good.
  6. And it didn't matter about take home play, clearly manny wanted to say he was a 300 mill player. Getting him 300 million in a way that smooths operating issues on your team is being creative, not holding his friends and family hostage.
  7. This is probably when sox thought they were sitting pretty, but refused to acknowledge the leverage the player had. And because jerry hates labor leverage so much, he left himself vulnerable to competent organizations.
  8. Exactly. Many posters made the point that they were sitting confidently on a floor too low to prevent additional bidders. That turned out to be true, but the smart businessman said the smart negotiators know that the worst thing you can do is bid against yourselves.
  9. If they entered into this market thinking that their discount deal would work because they held his friends hostage than they are incompetent and its nobodies fault but their own.
  10. Exactly. The white sox have a higher payroll than the As and Rays, who will compete for playoff spots. Their rosters are unbelievably more talented. The As got Profar for a really nice, smart deal. They always just look for good undervalued players. The sox paid market price for 2 average relievers. Their war will be 1/3 of manny machado brings this year, their cost? 1/2.
  11. I legitimately feel terrible for them. They were used against manny in all honesty.
  12. They are delusional, they are so inept. Yet, they think they are so clever.
  13. Yeah I wanted the sox to sign machado more than anything, never wanted my concerns vindicated. But it's obvious there are signs of failure in the sox execution and way of operating that puts them at a disadvantage. When it's pointed out its met with a lot of resistance, but a lot of posters were right. The sox need to find big bats, and in search of big bats I am sure they are going to have tunnel vision. Like when they tried to fix the offensive output of catcher by ditching tyler flowers only to not fix the offensive output and open up a defensive issue. Which they tried to fix by ditching narvaez. I'm not surprised, but I'm still annoyed and upset from a fan perspective. This makes the rebuild unbelievably harder. It was just money. Now they need to use talent in the most efficient way possible. The sox should really question whether their judgment of value is completely deficient considering their output. Machado at 300 mill is too high, but alonso at 10, nova at 9, herrera at 8, all getting you output you should easily be able to create with 800k. We helped our rival and took on a .780 ops first baseman. SMDH
  14. oh my god shut the fuck up kenny williams
  15. So true, it's important to understand the white sox lack impact bats. And now they lost the one that provided some defensive value. Complete and utter failure.
  16. An unimaginable failure for the front office and organization. The worst part of all of this is I knew big money was going toward big impact. The glut of spending will now be thrown at tier 2 free agents as they scramble to become competitive. And they will act like they will sign someone next year haha.
