  1. But that’s where I read “breaking news” and see it differently. It’s often not about saying 30 minutes before a reporter that a deal is done. It’s often just letting people know what Sox are working on and that something is close enough to mention. A lot of people here want that info, but it often does fall through before execution.
  2. I think what you need to understand is things can be true but also not come to fruition. The Sox may very well have been very close on a Pederson deal, and then it falls through. If the deal never occurs does that mean all the info in the run up is bad? No, deals fall through all the time and people like we are talking about give us info from earlier stages than a reporter like rosenthal would.
  3. Would be pretty easy to verify if #Vegas has done that.
  4. Did something happen to baseball man!?
  5. And they aren't idiots. They'll have a show dedicated to "what would it look like if harper and machado signed" and then at the end they'll ask everyone if they think it could happen and they'll all say "not a chance". I think at the GM meetings after a show dedicated to machado only Garfein predicted he'd go to sox and that was just because he felt he had to. (things have obviously progressed since then).
  6. I still think if they clean house, get the bad reputation out, get a progressive, charismatic guy to lead things it can turn around massively. But will miss out on next few superstar plays.
  7. Garfein? He's just a positive sox personality. Sox have lost a ton of beat reporters recently and his team puts out a lot of great content. But, it's not serious analysis of the sox, it's access and a lot of "wouldn't it be cool? Won't it be cool?". I think it's great but, you can't do apples to apples comparisons with him and people like DST or Fegan
  8. The article update itself basically says it will most likely just be the first gameplay trailer
  9. Whhhyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy
  10. It’s amazing how the white Sox aren’t even mentioned much as competition.
  11. Is this the part where we start eating our own dead in camp for nourishment?
  12. Eh, they have much more prospect depth than when the white sox did that.
  13. Yeah I debated starting a new one but this news isn't that "real" it's just some heating up compared to what used to be there.
  14. That of course would be interesting, but something that hurts so much more than last year is that Markannen looks worse, Dunn looks worse, and Lavine is showing that while a prolific scorer, has some tendencies that make him more like a nice number 4 option not a number 2.
  15. One thing I kinda respect about Boras' game is he doesn't let any team feel like the favorite.
  16. I agree with that, but I'm sure they figure someone could want to jump the line and maybe make the bidding war that hasn't happened. But, I agree, at this point I think Manny's number is what it will be in a few weeks, but they are going to let it play out.
  17. Not great for die-hard fans, but honestly could see this doing pretty well for sox overall. Already had some friends (that are not sox fans) text interest in going (at this point I am the only sox fan that anyone knows apparently)
  18. Does anyone think Manny or Bryce is losing money each day they wait? My answer is no. That calculation changes as ST comes into play. As long as that's the case, I'm not shocked the game of chicken continues. That said, there will be a personal part of this where at some point they may want to get certainty on housing. But either city will not be their permanent residence, and with the money they have they'll have plenty of nice, furnished options to choose from even in a pinch. If this goes on another 2-3 weeks I'm not shocked.
  19. "for an extra $500, we'll make you a cover with Bryce in whatever uniform you request!"
  20. I know it's a pain but any chance to get a transcript on the rutherford interview? Little hard to pick out what he was saying at times.
  21. In the futuresox podcast, Rutherford mentions just feeling a lot stronger. Going to be a good storyline in ST.
  22. The problem is their signing of Hosmer last year really upped their "crazy" quotient where everything is believable. There was also Preller's first year.
  23. When we correctly understand the moves of 1961 it unlocks the door to get us to the next level to sign Manny,
  24. https://theathletic.com/788048/2019/01/28/white-sox-laud-farm-system-while-their-players-keep-wooing-manny-machado/ For most part, Rutherford was rarely on the tongue of sox execs this soxfest (compared to last) and I missed this panel. Interesting to note, we'll see in spring training if things look different in bp.
